Mr. Roger Nunn
Mr. Roger Louis Nunn, Sr., age 62, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at his home.
He was born to Fredrick Rollie and Betty Marie Reeves Nunn on August 19, 1956, in Lebanon, Oregon. He was employed by Tyson Foods and enjoyed fishing, CB radios and model cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Britta Kiepen Nunn, in 2014; his son, Roger Louis Nunn, Jr.; and two brothers, Fredrick Nunn and Melvin Ross Nunn.
He is survived by three sisters, Veronica Moe and her husband Marvin of Lebanon, Oregon, Judy Solis and her husband Jerry of Baytown, Texas, and Donnell Hart of Kemp, Texas; two brothers, Robert Nunn and his wife Earlene of Lebanon, Oregon and Rollie Nunn and his wife Sadie of Cove, Arkansas; as well as, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Roger Nunn has graciously donated his body to science. Arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
Mr. Ricky James
Mr. Ricky Duard James, age 71, a resident of De Queen, died Monday, September 24, 2018, in the Bear Creek Healthcare, De Queen.
He was born to Gerald Duard and Pearlene Green James on August 9, 1947, at the family’s home in Horatio. He loved the Lord and was a member of the De Queen Church of Christ. He was an X-Ray Technician for the De Queen Medical Center and was later an Engineer for D&E TO&E, having 30 years service. He married the love of his life, Patricia Faye Roberson, on March 22, 1979, in De Queen, Arkansas. He loved to fish, garden, play Bluegrass music on the guitar, but most of all, he cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brian James; and two siblings, Bartie Campbell and Gary James.
He is survived by his wife of over 39 years, Patricia Roberson James of De Queen; one son, Ross James and his wife Candid of De Queen; one daughter, Renee James Denson and her husband Joe of De Queen; six grandchildren, Savanna, Seth, Elizabeth, Ezra, Daniel and Norene; one brother, Dale James and his wife Linda of Arlington, Texas; nieces, nephews, other relative and a host of friends.
Graveside Services for Mr. Ricky James will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, September 27, 2018, in the Dierks City Cemetery with Bro. Toney Stowers officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., at the funeral home.
Michael Nevels
Mr. Michael Dewayne Nevels, 64, of Elk City, Oklahoma was born on December 26, 1953 in De Queen, Arkansas. He is the son of Calvin and Delores Maxine (Kankelfritz) Nevels. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Intergris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family.
He married Deborah Kaye Friday on November 29, 1980 in De Queen, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on December 20, 1998.
Michael enjoyed hunting, Oklahoma State Football games, the Texas Rangers, Rodeos and bull riding. He enjoyed going to the casino with Teresa. Michael was known to work a lot but always found time to spend with his family and friends. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Elk City, Oklahoma State University Posse Club and the Oklahoma State University Alumni Association. Michael was a member of the First Baptist Church but enjoyed attending The Way Church in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Cherishing his memory are his two sons, Sam Nevels and his wife, Keara of Memphis, Tennessee, Michael “Mikey” Nevels and his wife, Devon of Carter, Oklahoma; five daughters, Sumer Dupree and her husband, Darren of Elk City, Oklahoma, Tisha Thomas and her husband, Geoffrey of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Jackie Davidson and her husband, Tracy of Monument, Colorado, Tracy Goodson and her husband, Gene of Fairview, Oklahoma, Vickie Frantz of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; seventeen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, James Nevels and his wife, Nancy of Hartshorne, Oklahoma; sister, Theresa Maderer of Idabel, Oklahoma; companion, Teresa Frantz of Elk City, Oklahoma; best friend of thirty years, Peter Gee; a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Deborah; parents, Calvin and Delores Nevels; sister, Shirley Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 24, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Elk City, Oklahoma. Pastor Kyle Evans will officiate, Doc Ware will assist. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Oddfellows Cemetery, Lockesburg, Arkansas, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. Funeral Services have been entrusted to the care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.

Mary Lou Petet Martin
Mrs. Mary Lou Petet Martin, age 81, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at her home.
She was born September 7, 1937 in the Lone Oak Community to Henry and Dean Petet. She attended De Queen Schools graduating in 1956. She was a cheerleader and played in Leopard Band. She was also a cosmetologist, artist, florist, auctioneer and church pianist for over 60 years. She was also past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was married to Perry Wayne Martin for 43 years. He passed away in 1998.
She is survived by her children, Tony Wayne Martin of Dierks, Steven Glen and daughter-in-law Cindy Martin of Dierks and one special son by love, Fred Ware of Texarkana, Arkansas; her grandchildren, Brad and Ann Martin of Georgetown, Texas, Brady and Jennifer Martin of Gainesville, Texas, Ben Martin of Bryant, Arkansas; her special granddaughter, Beth and husband Trey Shelton of Dierks; four great grandchildren, Ali Shelton, Oliver Martin, Calvin Martin and Lucy Martin; two special brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom and Carol Petet of De Queen and Jerry and Virginia Petet of Springdale, Arkansas; one sister in-law, Ruth Culpepper of Jonesboro, Louisiana; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Martin will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2018 in the Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Brady Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery in De Queen, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church.
“John John” Thompson
Mr. “John John” Thompson also known as Yo-hon, age 46, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas died Sunday, September 16, 2018, in Midland, Texas.
He was born December 9, 1971, in De Queen, Arkansas. He was a superintendent at Guardian Energy Services and a member of the Old Union Missionary Baptist Church in Lockesburg. John John enjoyed hunting, golf, poker, and playing in the mud. He also enjoyed the Nebraska Huskers, Green Bay Packers, Arkansas Razorbacks “Razerbaks”, especially calling the Hogs. He loved his kids, nieces and nephews.
John John was preceded in death by his father, John “Conoco” Thompson and his grandparents, Leo and Mary Winer and Jack and Betty Thompson.
He is survived by two daughters, Katie and Ashlie Thompson of Blair, Nebraska; his mother, Susie Winer Thompson of Lockesburg; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Janna Thompson of Big Spring, Texas and Jimmy and Vanessa Thompson of Lockesburg; one sister and brother-in-law, Susie and Brent Carver of Lockesburg ; his nieces and nephews, K’Leeh Holt and husband Joey, Cameron and Mason Kyle, Bryce and Jesse Keaton, Linnea and Izabelle Thompson, Marlee, John, Emily, and William James Carver; and a number of aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services for John John will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 21, 2018, in the Old Union Missionary Baptist Church with his uncle Danny White, Bro. Donny Davis, and Bro. Tate Keith officiating. Burial will follow in Old Union Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday the 20th at the funeral home. Please come as you feel comfortable or wear camo, red, Razorback or Husker colors.
William “Bill” Donald Cooper
William Donald Cooper passed into the eternal care of his Lord on Sunday, September 16, 2018. At the time of his death, Mr. Cooper was living with his lovely wife and daughter near Hugo, Oklahoma.
Mr. Cooper was born and raised in Missouri. He was born in Kansas City in 1934.
Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his Christian parents, Lionel and Emily Cooper and by his Christian sister, Carolyn Estrada.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joyce; six daughters, Christie Cooper of Norman, Oklahoma, Cathryn Gilbert of Rogers, Arkansas, Margaret Cooper of Austin, Texas, Dena Veuleman of Texarkana, Arkansas, Sonja Meazell of Lindale, Texas, and Chrystal Cogburn of Ft. Towson, Oklahoma; two sons, Larry Chewning of Troup, Texas and Todd Chewning of Bullard, Texas; five granddaughters, Amber, Amanda, Tiffany, Heather, and Brittany; nine grandsons, Eric, Daniel, Justin, who is Chief Petty Officer in the Navy, Mark, Joshua, Chase, Kameron, Bradley; and a number of great grandchildren.
Mr. Cooper graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia, Missouri. Upon graduation, he moved with his parents to Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He worked in the oil industry in Tulsa and Tripoli, Libya where he served as an accounting manager. He traded his oil industry career for a career in healthcare finance, a move he did not understand until much later when he came to realize the Lord had moved him into the ministry he had been praying for. He spent the next 35 years as a chief financial officer, helping healthcare entities survive troubled financial times.
Mr. Cooper was a resident of Henderson, Texas from 1993 to 2016. He retired in 2001 as Chief Financial Officer of Henderson Memorial Hospital, now known as East Texas Regional Healthcare System- Henderson.
Mr. Cooper was a CPA and a Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, and educational organization in healthcare finance. He held a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A&M-Texarkana.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 20, 2018, at the Pavilion in Campground Cemetery in Winthrop, Arkansas with Junior Ochoa officiating under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday the 19th at the funeral home.
Ms. Nora Cunningham
Ms. Nora Dean Green Cunningham, age 64, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Friday, September 14, 2018, in a Little Rock hospital.
She was born to Thurman Young and Ida Ella Sillavan Green on May 17, 1954, in De Queen, Arkansas. She worked as an LPN in the office of Dr. Hoyt for 14 years. She loved the Lord and attended Rose Hill Baptist Church and Friendship Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, puzzles and piano, but most of all, she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Larry B. Green and Sonny Green; and one sister, Sonia Hankins.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Tonia Brantley of Texarkana, Arkansas; three daughters, Glenda Mowry of De Queen, Crissy Knighten and her husband Michael of Winthrop, and Teresa Stafford and her husband Vernon of De Queen; two step-daughters, Samantha Williams and her husband Eric and Sandra Forrester and her husband Jason, all of Des Ark, Arkansas; fifteen grandchildren, Ashley, Shayna, Alex, Dalton, Clayton, Luke, Sarah, Patience, Patrick, Mason, Mabree, Mandie, Kobe, Trayton, and Chelsea; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Sue Nelson of De Queen; as well as, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
