Mrs. Margaret Cromer
Mrs. Margaret Allene Gardner Cromer, age 94, a resident of Tyler, Texas, was called to the everlasting Kingdom of the Lord on Sunday, August 21, 2016, in the Baylor Heart Hospital, Plano, Texas.
She was born on Wednesday, February 22, 1922, in De Queen, Arkansas. She married the love of her life, Raymond R. Cromer on November 7, 1949, in Miller County, Arkansas.
She is survived by four daughters, Carol O’Neill of Tyler, Texas, Sandra Cromer-begert, of Fort Worth, Texas, Sherry Schwettman, of Tyler, Texas, and Sharon Akins of Tyler, Texas; three grandsons, Shawn Cromer, Michael Akins, and Arron Akins; as well as, great-grandchildren, nieces, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Since her passing, Mrs. Cromer’s beloved brother, “B.Y.” Bryant Gardner, has passed away.
She was employed as a supervisor at Texas Instruments in Dallas until her retirement. After retirement, she returned to De Queen, Arkansas and later moved to Tyler, Texas.
She enjoyed traveling, cooking and going to church on Sunday. Her favorite hobbies included crossword puzzles, puzzles, quilting, and tending to her flowers and garden. She was an avid reader and was of sound mind and body before her death. She left many wonderful memories behind for all who met and knew her. She will be dearly missed by all.
As a final selfless act, she donated her body to the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth so that they might be able to find out what made her so special.
Memorial services for Mrs. Margaret Cromer will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at 1:00 P.M., in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Avon Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
Marilyn Elaine Clay Groves
Marilyn Elaine Clay Groves, 78, passed away March 25, 2018. She was born in Wetumka, Oklahoma but lived most of her life in Lockesburg, AR. She graduated from Lockesburg High School, class of 58’.
She is preceded in death by her husband Ben and her son Clay Groves. She is survived by her son Don Groves (Laura Lynn) of Germantown, TN; her grandsons Joel Groves (Megan) of St. Louis, MO; Luke Groves (Lauren) of Clarksville, TN; Andy Groves (Melissa) of Germantown, TN; David Groves (Sabrina) of Naples, Italy; and 9 great grandchildren who knew her as Maw Maw: (Naomi, Joseph, David), (Jett, Karis), (Anderson, Nathan), and (Rhealee, Tahlia)
Marilyn and Ben moved frequently due to his job, National Weather Service and they lived in Kansas, Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, and Alabama. Marilyn worked as a book keeper and retired from the Central Alabama Chapter 13 Bankruptcy District Office in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. After Ben’s passing, Marilyn moved to Memphis, Tennessee and lived at Kirby Pines Estates Retirement Community to be closer to her remaining son’s family. She loved being around her grandkids and great grandkids.
Marilyn came from a very large family and had ten brothers and sisters and seven brothers/sisters-in-laws, and almost fifty nieces and nephews. She could name each one of them and tell you stories about them all. Family was very important to Marilyn. She is survived by her siblings Alton Clay (Ernestine); Wayne Clay (Mira) of Lockesburg; Melba Gore (Gary) of Texarkana, AR.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Falls Chapel Presbyterian Church in Lockesburg, Arkansas to celebrate Marilyn’s life. All family, friends, and those who knew her are welcome.
Mr. Roger Hall
Mr. Vernon Roger Hall, age 64, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, May 3, 2018, at his home.
Roger was born on February 24, 1954, to Robert Edward and Elsie Mae Perrin Hall in Antlers, Oklahoma. He enjoyed his life surrounded by family and friends. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing but most of all he loved gardening and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two older brothers, Douglas Hall and Mileage Hall.
He is survived by his wife of over 45 years, Nola Jean Hall of De Queen; one son, Brad Hall and his wife Rebecca of Bodcaw, Arkansas; one daughter, Windee Cole and her husband Andrew of De Queen, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Jace and Trey Tipton both of Bodcaw, Arkansas, and Klayton Moore and Paityn Cole both of De Queen, Arkansas; as well as nieces, nephew, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Roger Hall will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 8, 2018, in the Millwee Cemetery, Horatio, Arkansas, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 7, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., at the funeral home.
Mr. Gary Williams
Mr. Gary D. Williams, age 82, a resident of De Queen, died Monday, April 30, 2018, at his home.
He was born to Don and Belva Williams in Mason City, Iowa, on June 8, 1935. He is a retired ground crew member of American Airlines and enjoyed collecting eagles and horses. Gary was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Horatio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Deborah Williams.
He is survived by his wife of over 25 years, Pat Harrison Williams of De Queen; one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Russell Rosenstein of Fort Worth, Texas, a son and his partner, Michael Williams and Patrick Blahah of Fort Worth, Texas; two stepsons and one stepdaughter-in-law, Leland and Carol Chadwick of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Justin Ford of De Queen; four grandchildren, Brian Rosenstein of Fort Worth, Texas, Krista Thomas of Fort Worth, Texas, Donovan Ford of De Queen, and Wendi Chadwick of Austin, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Braydon Thomas, Kassn Thomas, Brilyn Thomas, and Jazmyne Hill; as well as nieces, nephews, other family members, and a host of friends.
Memorial services for Mr. Gary Williams will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at 10:00 A.M., in the First Baptist Church of Horatio, Horatio, Arkansas. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
Terry Lynn Tyson
Mr. Terry Lynn Tyson, age 60, a resident of Sulphur, Oklahoma, died Sunday, April 29, 2018, in Sulphur.
He was born July 2, 1957, in De Queen, Arkansas.
Mr. Tyson was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Hugh and Virginia Charlene Dunlap Tyson; and a sister, Linda Charlene Mazzola.
He is survived by two brothers, Larry Hugh Tyson and Kenneth Gene Tyson, both of Winthrop, Arkansas; two sisters, Donna Sue Keeney of Port Arthur, Texas and Deborah Elms of Galveston, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Tyson will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018 in the Campground Cemetery with Leon Klitz officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Lillian Naydean Pogue
Mrs. Lillian Naydean Nelson Pogue, age 84, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Monday, April 30, 2018, at Dierks Heathcare and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born to James Clarence Nelson and Emmer Victoria Kennedy Nelson on March 22, 1934, near Lockesburg, Arkansas. She was retired from De Queen Public Schools as High School Food Manager after 27 years and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Geneva Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Pogue was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, Roy Virgil Pogue; four brothers, Dewey Nelson, Orlin Nelson, Linvil Nelson and Virgil Nelson and one sister, Betty Jean Nelson Shepherd.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lillian and C.R. Finley; three sons, Roy E. Pogue, David Pogue and Dennis Pogue; two grandsons, Todd Finley and Dillon Pogue; two granddaughters, Cara Pogue and Jayde Pogue and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Naydean Pogue will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 3, 2018, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Bro. Travis Lane officiating. Burial will follow in Redmen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 2nd at the funeral home.
Donald "Donnie" Gene Rutherford, Jr.
Mr. Donald “Donnie” Gene Rutherford Jr., age 47, a resident of Hatton, Arkansas, died Sunday, April 22, 2018, at his home.
He was born December 6, 1970 in Arcada, California. He was a carpenter.
Mr. Rutherford was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Sr. and Clarace Wilson Rutherford.
He is survived by his daughter, Madison Rutherford of Sweet Home, Oregon; three sons, Dillon Rutherford, Austin Rutherford, and Daniel Rutherford all of Claremore, Oklahoma; a sister and brother-in-law, Leona and Jerry Robb; three nephews and a niece-in-law, Curtis Hammer, Andrew Hammer, and Danny and Jessica Hammer; two grandsons, Brody and Tony, and a special friend, George Littel.
Memorial services for Mr. Rutherford will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the Daniel Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
