"Granny" Patsy Ann Thompson

She was born to W. R. and Hazel A. Hampson Putty on June 11, 1939 in Odessa, Texas. She owned Lewis Mobil in Terrell, Texas, and retired from the Terrell State Hospital in Terrell, Texas. When she moved to De Queen, she worked as the elementary secretary/bookkeeper for the De Queen School System. She enjoyed traveling, especially cruises. She was an avid reader. She loved her students at the De Queen Public Schools, and loved her grand dogs, Buster, Sugar, Ellie Mae, Zoe, Maggie, and Molly. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Weldon Reagan “Buddy” Putty, Jr, her husband, Tom Thompson, and a son-in-law, Coy Dale Pitchford.

She is survived by a daughter, Lee Ann Pitchford of De Queen, Arkansas, two grandchildren and their spouses, Megan and Daniel England of Magnolia, Arkansas, and Ryan and Nico Nigo of Dallas, Texas, her great-grandchildren, Daniel McCoy and Addison Grace England of Magnolia, Arkansas, a brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Ester Ann Parker of Texas, a sister, Myrna Cooper of Horatio, Arkansas, five nieces, six nephews, and a number of great-nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services for Mrs. Patsy Thompson will be held at 4:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 16, 2018 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Tatum, Minister, officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. You may send online condolences at www.chandlerfuneral.com.

Ella Faye Pettigrew

Mrs. Ella Faye Pettigrew, age 81, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Monday, January 15, 2018, at Bear Creek Healthcare in De Queen.

She was born December 28, 1936, in Texarkana, Texas. She was a homemaker and member of the Williamson Community Church.

Mrs. Pettigrew was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Elon and Lillie Mae Burns Lawrence and her husband, Walter Pettigrew.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and James Griggs of Horatio, Arkansas and Brenda Sue and Russell Helms of Ashdown, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Dallas Pettigrew and William Pettigrew both of Horatio and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pettigrew will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Williamson Community Church with Bro. Jimmy Roden officiating. Burial will follow in the Horatio Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 17th at the funeral home.

Donna Gaddis Hefner

Mrs. Donna Gaddis Hefner, age 80, a resident of Mena, Arkansas, died Saturday, January 13, 2018, in Mena.

She was born on May 29, 1937, in Dierks, Arkansas. Mrs. Hefner worked in retail, was a homemaker, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mena.

Mrs. Hefner was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Othel “Pap” and Vondal Alexander Gaddis and her husband, David Phillip Hefner.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Stan Craig of Mena; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jimmy Lovell of Mena and Jeff and Suzanne Lovell of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; one sister, Betty Johnson of Mena; one brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Kay Gaddis of Texarkana; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Donna Hefner will be held at 10:00 a .m., Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at the Beasley Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with Randolph Emerson officiating. Burial will follow in the Greens Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday the 16th at the funeral home in Mena.

Mr. Ernest Staggs

Mr. Ernest Leonard Staggs, age 80, a resident of De Queen, died Friday, January 12, 2018, in Bear Creek Nursing & Rehab, De Queen.

He was born to George William and Mamie Chandler Staggs in Horatio, Arkansas on June 23, 1937. He served in the military with the U S Army, and was a member of the Horatio Assembly of God Church, and made his living as a car detailer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Floyd Staggs.

He is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Juanita Staggs of Horatio, Donald and Laura Staggs of Miami, Oklahoma, a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyne & James Archer of Healdton, Oklahoma, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Ernest Staggs will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 15, 2018 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. John Gutierres officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the Old Center Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Sandra Lynn Roberts

Sandra Lynn Roberts, age 75, passed away on January 3, 2018.

Mrs. Roberts was born on December 25, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee to Norma and Marvin Gambill. She was a 32 year resident of the Camas-Portland area and was the co-owner and operator of several automotive dealerships with her husband, Bob.

Sandra was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents, and two brothers.

Survivors include her son, Gary Fleenor of Vancouver, Washington; daughter, Debora Smith of Arkansas; stepson, Milford "Butch" Roberts of Arkansas; adopted sons, Jesse and James Roberts of Vancouver; adopted daughter, Ricki Roberts Saul of South Carolina; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Roberts will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 14, 2018, in the Cossatot Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Mr. Vernon Shelton

Mr. Vernon Clarence Shelton, age 83, a resident of Eagletown, Oklahoma, died Wednesday, January 10th in the De Queen Medical Center.

He was born to Clarence Jackson and Myrtle Viola Vanscoder Shelton in Shinewell, Oklahoma on March 15, 1934. He served in the military with the US Navy, and was retired from the State of Oklahoma where he was a Forest Ranger Chief. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church of De Queen, where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cows, and cherished the time spent with family, especially his grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Clifford Shelton, Inez Clark, Della Hill, Betty Watson, and Emmitt Shelton.

He is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Maudie Davis Shelton of Eagletown, Okla.,a son and daughter-in-law, Darrell Vernon “Buddy” and Carla Shelton of De Queen, Two grandsons and a granddaughter-in-law, Bryan Scott and Ashley Shelton of De Queen, and Randall Eric Shelton of Ozark, Arkansas, a great-grandson, Jaxon Ty Shelton of De Queen, five brothers and sisters-in-law, Olen and Jimmie Ann Shelton of Shinewell, Oklahoma, Charles and Barbara Shelton, Roger and Judy Shelton all of Goodwater, Okla., and Larry and Linda Shelton of Horatio, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Evelene Davis of Goodwater, Oklahoma, and Shirley and Cy Davis of Eagletown, Oklahoma, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Vernon Shelton will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, January 14, 2018 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Frachiseur officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the West Otis Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. Visitation will be Saturday, January 13th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Chandler Funeral Home.

Arvil Don Lott

Mr. Arvil Don Lott, age 86, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Dierks Health & Rehab.

He was born November 4, 1931, in Osage County, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a heavy equipment operator at Weyerhaeuser for 40 years, and a member of the Bethany Baptist Church.

Mr. Lott was preceded in death by his parents, Henderson H. and Nora Dixon Lott; his stepmother, Ethel Lott; two brothers Clayton Lott, and Grady Lott; and two sisters, Willow Staggs, and Helen Holloway.

He is survived by his three sons and a daughter-in-law, Donnie Lott of Brunho, Idaho, Terry and Maureen Lott of Wenonah, New Jersey, and Ronnie Lott of Dierks; two brothers, Jay Lott of Lockesburg, Arkansas, and Ronald Lott of Ashdown, Arkansas; a sister, Hazel Pinson of Nashville, Arkansas; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Mr. Lott will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Bro. Travis Lane officiating.
