Hazel Martha Jane Helms
Mrs. Hazel Martha Jane Helms, age 95, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas, died Saturday, December 16, 2017, in Ashdown, Arkansas.
She was born August 15, 1922 in Sevier County, Arkansas. She was a homemaker, artist and lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
Mrs. Helms was preceded in death by her parents, Buck and Daisy Almond Willmon and one daughter, Sharon Inez Helms.
She is survived by her husband of 77 years, R.F. “Bobby” Helms; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Helms II of North Carolina, Don Helms of Sandpoint, Idaho and Joe and Janice Helms of Lockesburg, Arkansas; one daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Don Gilbert of Maumelle, Arkansas; one sister, Mary Willmon Branson of California and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mrs. Helms will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2017, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Benjamin Neeley officiating.
Lynda Joyce Loper Taylor
Mrs. Lynda Joyce Loper Taylor, age 68, a resident of Ashdown, Arkansas, and former resident of Lockesburg, died Thursday, December 14, 2017 in Christus St. Michael Health System.
She was born to J. E. and Waunie E. Pearson Loper in Phoenix, Arizona on January 9, 1949.
She was a retired secretary, with the Lockesburg School System with 20 years service, and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She was an avid reader, and she cherished the time spent with family especially at the beach.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Billy Joe Taylor, and two sisters, Vickie Kampstra and Tammy Durand, a grandchild, Danielle Brown, and a niece, Traci Admire.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Steffani and John Stout of Junction City, Texas, Beth Leann Taylor of Foreman, Arkansas, and Caressa and Tony Higgins of Lockesburg one brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Maggie Loper of Winnsboro, Texas, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Darlene and John Laner of Dodge, Nebraska, Sue and Melvin Mize of Hatfield, Arkansas, and Debbie and Kerry Edmiaston of De Queen, eight grandchildren, Brandon, Cory, Joey, Samantha, Taylor, Laney, Greyson, and Drew, one great-granddaughter, Evelyn, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services for Mrs. Lynda Taylor will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, December 23, 2017 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
Richard Wayne Gentry
Mr. Richard Wayne Gentry, age 77, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Thursday, December 14, 2017, in De Queen.
He was born Tuesday, September 24, 1940, in Grannis, Arkansas. He was a farmer, retired from the Arkansas Forestry Service, and was employed at the Sevier County Landfill. He attended Chapel Hill Baptist Church where he was the bookkeeper and treasurer.
Mr. Gentry was preceded in death by his parents, Richard M. and Verna Lee Crosnoe Gentry.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Vickers Gentry; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Dana Gentry and Ray and Stacie Gentry all of De Queen; one sister Jane Gentry Smith of De Queen; seven grandchildren, Christopher Gentry, Justin Gentry, Taylor Gentry, Tessa Gentry, Tori Gentry, Karlie Turner, and Logan Turner; five great-grandchildren, Madison Gentry, Jocelyn Gentry, Arthur Wayne Gentry, Natalie Gentry, and Daxton Flowers; a number of nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Gentry will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 18, 2017, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Shane Haarmeyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday the 17th at the funeral home.
Helen Louise McGalliard
Mrs. Helen Louise McGalliard, age 69, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Thursday, December 14, 2017, at her home.
She was born July 28, 1948, in De Queen, Arkansas.
Mrs. McGalliard was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Eula Smith Dinger; two sisters; and three brothers.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Maggie Hopkins of Dierks, and Ricky and Angela Hopkins of Prescott, Arkansas; one brother, Billy Dinger of Lockesburg, Arkansas; two sisters, Jeannine Nickerson and Marty Munoz; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. McGalliard will be held 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017, at the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Dierks with Clyde Mitchell and Donnie Deaton officiating. Cremation will follow under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
Family will receive friends Friday, December 15, 2017, from 5:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Dierks.
Harry Preaus Broadwell
Mr. Harry Preaus Broadwell, age 79, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Thursday, December 14, 2017, at his home.
He was born July 7, 1938, in Parsons, Kansas. He was the owner of Harrywell Inc. in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and a member of the Church of Christ.
Mr. Broadwell was preceded in death by his parents, Sam Rainey and Ollie B. Good Broadwell.
He is survived by his wife, Jerry Ann Smith Broadwell; one daughter and son-in-law, Aimee and Rev. Scott Gilbreth of Dumas, Arkansas; one son and daughter-in-law, Harry Broadwell, Jr. and Lisa Broadwell of Maumelle, Arkansas; one sister, Anita Clark of Nashville, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Makayla Gilbreth and Ty Parker Gilbreth and five step-children, Pollyanna Smith of Horatio, Brenda Kramer of De Queen, Arkansas, Kenneth Carroll of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Barbara Batchelor of Kansas City, Kansas and J.F. Morris of Winter Garden, Florida, a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Broadwell will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017, at the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Gilbreth and Tony Stowers officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery in De Queen.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m, until service time on Saturday, at the funeral home.
Richard Garland Burnett
Richard Garland Burnett, age 64, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, was called Home by Jesus on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, after a courageous battle with stomach cancer.
Richard was born in Big Spring, Texas, to Garland Leon Burnett and Thelma Allene Merworth Burnett on February 2, 1953. He was a long-time resident of Sevier County. Richard was employed in the Maintenance Department at Pilgrims for 37 years until his early retirement due to his cancer. His religious preference was a Baptist. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and two-step dancing.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Sharon Nell Burnett Stewart, Brenda Allene Burnett and Helen Ruth Burnett Williams; and the recent passing of his brother, Jimmy Leon Burnett of Midland, Texas.
He is survived by his five children; his sons, Chad Burnett and wife, Dena of Dierks, Scott Burnett and wife Amanda of Horatio and three daughters, Kim Simmons and husband Terry of Horatio and Tracey McCoy of Horatio and Gina Ethridge of De Queen. Richard is also survived by four sisters, Doris Truitt and Pam Burnett of Lubbock, Texas, Karen Schmidt of Greenbrier, Arkansas and Belva Jones of De Queen; 19 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews that he truly loved.
Funeral services for Mr. Burnett will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 17, 2017, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Ligon officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Saturday, December 16th at the funeral home.
Leonard Miles Davis
Mr. Leonard Miles Davis, age 97, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at his home.
He was born to Bert and Jessie Lane Davis in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas on March 12, 1920.
He was retired from the U. S. Air Force with twenty years service, and was also a retired USDA Inspector. He enjoyed auctions, solitaire and cherished the time spent with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Violet Smith Davis, and Della Louise Boyett Davis, two sons, Miles Davis, and Paul Davis, a daughter, Rebecca Sue Davis, his parents, and a sister, Dorothy Parker.
He is survived by two sons, Bert Everett Davis of New Boston, Texas, and Leonard Ashley Michael Davis of Ashdown, Arkansas, two daughters, Jessie Lea Mason of Nashville, Arkansas, and Tabitha Michele Sotelo of De Queen, nine grandchildren, John Davis, Christy Davis-Adelizzi, Scooter Mason, Sylvia Mason, Caitlyn Massey, Catherine Davis, Izabella Sotelo, Sofia Sotelo, Alesandro Sotelo, two great-grandchildren, Alexander Mason, and April Marie Mason, a brother, George Davis of Oregon, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services for Mr. Leonard Davis will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel.
