Ronald Wayne Morgan

Mr. Ronald Wayne Morgan, age 58, a resident of Foreman, Arkansas, died Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at his home.

He was born to Lynville and Thelma Dean Morgan on November 24, 1958. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and helping others, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by one son, Bradley Morgan and his fiancé Andrea of Little Rock, Arkansas, one daughter, Monica Morgan of Carlisle, Arkansas, his grandchildren, Kendall Morgan and J.R. Morgan, both of New Boston, Texas, and Isabella Morgan and Tyler Morgan, both of Carlisle, Arkansas. A brother, Bruce Selvog, of Conway, Arkansas, three sisters, Laura Morgan and Anita Morgan – Conner, both of Stuttgart, Arkansas, Vicky Smith and her husband Jack of Haskel, Oklahoma, and number of other relatives and friends.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Jimmy Leon Burnett

Mr. Jimmy Leon Burnett, age 69, a resident of Midland, Texas, was called Home by Jesus on Monday, November 06, 2017, due to a massive heart attack after a long time battle with COPD.

Jimmy was born in Levelland, Texas to Garland Leon Burnett and Thelma Allene Merworth Burnett on October 15, 1948. He was a long-time resident of Sevier County before moving to Midland, Texas. He served in the United States Army from years May 1968 to May 1970. Jimmy’s work trade was a brick mason until early retirement due to his COPD. His religious preference was a Baptist. He loved making people laugh, singing, and playing his guitar that brought him great joy

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Sharon Nell Burnett Stewart, Brenda Allene Burnett, and Helen Ruth Burnett Williams; and a grandson, Matthew Leon Burnett.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Barron Burnett of Midland, Texas; his son, Marcus Leon Burnett and two daughters, Candace Michele Burnett Green and Lisa Gail Burnett all of Midland, Texas; four step-sons, Charlie Barron, Ray Barron, and Ardis Barron all of Midland, Texas and Joe Barron of San Angelo, Texas; two step-daughters, Lillie Barron Johnson of Midland and Gaynell Barron Cechvala of Verona, Mississippi; two brothers, Richard Garland Burnett of De Queen, Arkansas and Ron Williams of Dallas, Texas; five sisters, Doris Burnett Truitt of Lubbock, Texas, Karen Burnett Schmidt of Greenbrier, Arkansas, Belva Burnett Jones of De Queen, Arkansas, Pamela Sue Burnett of Lubbock, Texas, and Darlene Stegall of Fort Stockton, Texas; nine grandchildren; 19 step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; 19 step-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

After cremation in Midland, Texas there will be a graveside memorial service at Chapel Hill Cemetery on Sunday, November 19 2017, at 2:00 p.m. Services provided by Wilkerson Funeral Home. Family will be available at 1011 W. Janssen.

Teresa Irene Teel Shotts

Mrs. Teresa Irene Teel Shotts, age 78, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Friday, November 10, 2017, in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born September 14, 1939, in Conroe, Texas. Mrs. Shotts was a housewife and a Southern Baptist.

Mrs. Shotts was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lily Williams Teel.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Shotts; one son, Gary J. Shotts of Newala, Oklahoma; two daughters, Attilia Leigh Long of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Tina Rene Brandon of De Queen; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Shotts will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 13, 2017, at the Chapel Hill Cemetery with Jason Carlton officiating under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.

Bessie Crowell Mitchell

Mrs. Bessie Crowell Mitchell, age 100, a resident of Cerro Gordo, Arkansas, died Thursday, November 09, 2017, in De Queen, Arkansas.

She was born October 19, 1917, in Murfreesboro, Arkansas. Mrs. Mitchell was a farmer, a homemaker, and a member of the State Line Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and quilting.

Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Obie Mitchell; her parents, Silas and Clarice Farrer Crowell; two children, Randy Mitchell and Sharon Owens; three sisters; and five brothers.

She is survived by four daughters, Glenda Tinkes of Ben Lomond, Arkansas, Arlene Jones of De Queen, Kirma Kohler of Ukiah, California, and Hellen Milam of De Queen; one son, James Earl Mitchell of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mitchell will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 12, 2017, at the Stateline Baptist Church in Cerro Gordo, Arkansas. Burial will follow in the Cerro Gordo Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday the 11th at the funeral home.

Iris Estaline Kelly Hill

Mrs. Iris Estaline Kelly Hill, age 97, a resident of Nashville, Arkansas, died Monday, November 6, 2017, in Nashville.

She was born July 21, 1920 in the Greens Chapel Community. She was a house wife, homemaker, and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Hill enjoyed her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her parents, John and Dolly Holt Kelly; her husband, John Thomas Hill; and a great- granddaughter, Molly Estaline Conner.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Peggy Hill of Tulsa, Oklahoma, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Fonda Hill of De Queen, Arkansas, Lynda and David Rauls of Nashville, and Paula and Pat Evans of Texarkana, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Paul Hill, Kelly Conner, Scott Shores, Leslie Bates, Christopher Rauls, Stephen Rauls, Aaron Evans, and Holly Evans; 15 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hill will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Provo with Larry Fry officiating. Burial will follow in McHorse Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, November 8th.

Mrs. Julie Platt

Mrs. Julene Kay “Julie” Platt, age 46, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, November 2, 2017 from injuries received in an automobile accident.

She was born in De Queen, Arkansas, on June 18, 1971, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Beacon Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church, and she enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, riding horses, the lake, and cherished the time spent with her family.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Paxan Kole Platt, her grandparents, Robert and Alma Wolcott, and Velma Crane, Dale Woodward, and Bobby Stewart.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, John Platt of De Queen, two sons, Justin Platt of Provo, Arkansas, and Jarrin Platt of De Queen, a daughter, Emily Alexander of Mena, Arkansas, her mother and step-father, Darlene and Gary Matheson of De Queen, her father and step-mother, Odean and Sue Wolcott of De Queen, six brothers and sisters-in-law, Chris and Tonya Wolcott, Kevin and Andriea Wolcott, Bradley Wolcott, Brent Wolcott, Chad and Deedee Wolcott all of De Queen, and Dustin and Bridget Wolcott of Crossett, Arkansas, two grandchildren, Jaycee Leeann Platt of De Queen, and Zander McMillan of Mena, and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Julie is also survived by her husband’s family, her mother-in-law, Linda Stewart of De Queen, two brothers-in-law, Doug Platt of De Queen, Robert and his wife Joy Long of Kemp, Texas, sisters-in-law, Misty Nixon, Tonya and her husband Carlos Martinez, and Tasha Callahan all of De Queen.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Julie Platt will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 2:00 P.M., in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Beacon Hill Cemetery, De Queen, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Monday, November 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Chandler Funeral Home.

Martha Augusta Hill Carrington

Mrs. Martha Augusta Hill Carrington, age 98, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Wednesday, November 1, 2017, in De Queen.

She was born January 29, 1919, in Provo, Arkansas. She was a doctor’s assistant and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Carrington was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Butler and Lydia Sherman Hill; her grandson, Robert Alan Lovell; five brothers; and four sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Cox of De Queen and Suzanne Dixon of Carrollton, Texas; one sister-in-law, Iris Hill; four grandchildren, Marsha Smith, Terry Cox, Eric Lovell, and Duane Dixon; and a number of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Carrington will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Provo with Larry Fry officiating. Burial will follow in McHorse Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.
