H. Robert Smith

H. Robert Smith, 73, of Gillham, Ark., died Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at his home.

Mr. Smith was born Feb. 8, 1944, in Oklahoma City, Okla.

He was a retired truck driver, Mason and a member of Christian Motorcycle Association.

He was preceded in death by a son, Joe Bob Mills.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Carolyn Morris Smith of Gillham; two daughters and one son-in-law, Lynne and Bill Nielsen of Magnolia, Ark., and Nicole Smith of Sikeston, Mo.; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Shannon and Kim Smith of Foreman, Ark.; his mother, Norma Gene Smith of Waskom, Texas; two sisters, B. Scarborough of Waskom and Patsy and James Creech of Waldo, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of other relatives.

Services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Chandler Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Elizabeth Rehmann

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Delozier Rehmann, age 75, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas, died Thursday, August 31, 2017 in the Wadley Regional Medical Center, Texarkana, Texas.

She was born to Howard Edward and Hazel Jane Wolfe Delozier on January 19, 1942 in
Baltimore, Maryland. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and crafts.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Gerald and Joseph Delozier, and one sister, Nancy Steil.

She is survived by her husband of over 43 years, Louis Frederick Rehmann of Gillham, a brother and his wife, Paul Delozier and Cheryl Long of Tigard, Oregon, a sister, Susan McGuire of Baltimore, Maryland, a sister-in-law, Helen Delozier of Cape Corral, Florida, and dear friends, Karen and Faron Ruth of De Queen, Arkansas.

A memorial service will be at a later date. Cremation under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Deborah S. Melton

Mrs. Deborah S. Melton was called home in a divine spark of light and grace on Thursday August 31, 2017.

She was born to Thomas and Thelma Rowan Allison on August 30, 1954 at Albuquerque, New Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Allison, her mother, Thelma Rowan Vance, and a step-father, John Vance; two sisters, Diane Davis and Karol Hall, an infant brother, Joey Ahrens; two brothers-in-law, Larry Hall and Benny Parks.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of over 34 years, Paul Melton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kimberlee Lee and Matt Yates of Grannis and Erica Melton of Grannis; one brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Cindy Ahrens of De Queen, one sister, Kim Parks of Wickes; one granddaughter, Baylee Davis of Grannis. She is survived by five sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, as well as, a number of nieces, nephews, other family members, and a host of friends.

She was a lover of words who enjoyed books and writing. She laughed easily, and always appreciated a good joke. She loved the people in her life deeply, including her family, friends, and the past and present students of CRHS. She could always be counted on to pray, offer a kind word, or just be present where she was needed. She was the hands of God on earth and had a servant's heart. True to form, she passed on a day that would guarantee her funeral to be convenient.

If you're reading this, whether you knew her or not, she would like you to know that God loves you and there's life after death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Revival Center, Cove, Arkansas, with Reggie Fryar officiating. Burial will be in Wheelock Cemetery, Millerton, Oklahoma, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.

Garry Dale Warford, Jr.

Mr. Garry Dale Warford, Jr., age 44, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the De Queen Medical Center.

He was born to Garry Dale, Sr., and Rhonda Ann Campbell Warford Burt on May 18, 1973. He worked in construction and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his father, Garry Dale Warford, Sr.; his stepfather, Dennis Burt; a brother, Michael Burt; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Warford; as well as, his grandfather, Donald Campbell.

He is survived by a daughter, Desirae Warford of Lockesburg, a son, Dustin O’Neal Warford of De Queen, a step-son, Devon Rice of Louisiana, a step-daughter, Destiny Hookie of De Queen; his wife, Lola Rice Warford of De Queen; his mother, Rhonda Burt of Lockesburg; a sister, Christie Maleski of Lockesburg; his grandparents, Darlene and James Williamson of Texarkana, Arkansas; a grandson, Benten Lane Markham of Lockesburg, two nieces, Kaylee Curtis of Ashdown, Arkansas and Sissy Maleski of Lockesburg, a nephew, Kyle Curtis of Texas; as well as, a number of other family members and a host of friends.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Cremation arrangements under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Mary Frances Deer Ward

Mrs. Mary Frances Deer Ward, age 72, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Friday, September 1, 2017, in Dierks.

She was born January 5, 1945 in Vancouver, Washington. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Dierks.

Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her parents Otto and Mildred Deer; four brothers, Sonny, Earl, Tommy, and Larry Deer; two sisters Emma Lou Harris and Mary Jo Alexander; and one son William Ward.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Clyde Ward; three sons and one son-in-law and two daughters-in-law, Wendell Ward and Dan DuPree of Texarkana, Texas, Mitchell and Michelle Ward, Douglas Ward, and Becky Ward all of Dierks; one brother Rickey Joe Deer of Murfreesboro, Arkansas; two sisters Glenda Conatser of Nashville, Arkansas, and Diane Cox of Dierks; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren, and a great number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ward will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 4, 2017, at Fellowship Cemetery in Dierks, with Thomas Ward officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 on Sunday, September 3rd at the funeral home in Dierks.

Shawn Michael Olsen

Mr. Shawn Michael Olsen, age 39, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Monday, August 28, 2017, in Athens, Ohio.

He was born August 10, 1978, in Newton, Kansas. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing pool, online gaming, and working with his pipeline crew.

He worked side by side Larry McCoy in running McCoy Heat & Air. He worked in cabins in Hochatown, Beavers Bend, and all over South East Oklahoma. He was always on call for McCoy Heat & Air. His favorite saying was “I got this” and he stood by his word. If it was a cooler down or just a switch he treated it as if it was a new install. He treated everyone and every job the same. Shawn was currently employed as a pipeliner for M.G. Dyess, Inc. working across the country. Wherever there was a need he was there, again his response I GOT THIS! The greatest thing he was proud of was his wife, his girls, and grandchildren. Shawn’s wife adds her promise to him “We got this!”

Mr. Olsen was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Wayne Olsen, Sr.; one brother, Paul Thompson; mother-in-law, Sharon Branscum; a grandson, Ryder Cole Mitchell; and his grandparents, Melvin and Mary Reed.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle Branscum Olsen of 20 years; three daughters, Nicole Pierce and Matt, Hope Mitchell and Jovani, and Dana and Justin Baker; three grandsons, Brantley and Jaxon Gore and Kolton Key; one granddaughter, Kason Key and expecting his second granddaughter, Aviana Jewell; mother and stepfather, Marilyn and Johnny West; his in laws, Lee and Polly Branscum; two brothers Kodie Tonika, and Dennis Olsen; three sisters, Leslie Ahern and Teresa Olsen, and Michelle Stinnett; a sister-and-brother-in-law Jolynn and William Hoover; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends; and his pipeline family.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 4, 2017, at Oak Grove Cemetery with Bro. Shane Haarmeyer officiating under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 3rd at the funeral home.

Robbie Jo Goode Houser

Mrs. Robbie Jo Goode Houser, age 88, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in Ashdown, Arkansas.

She was born to Henry Fuller and Lily Mae Staten Goode in Celeste, Texas, on March 11, 1929. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lockesburg, and also the Lockesburg Quilting Club. She enjoyed word search, cooking, sewing, purses, and cherished the time spent with family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband over 67 years, J. T. Houser, six brothers, William, Robert, Aubrey, Ray, Elbert and Hoyt Goode, a sister, Ethel Goode McElfresh Hannon.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Larry Havins of Lockesburg, Arkansas, Diane and Kelsey Johnson of Nashville, Arkansas, and Brenda and Robert Posey of Texarkana, Texas, two special nieces, Rhonda and her husband, Joe Porcaro, and Sherri Harmon, six grandchildren and their spouses, Gina and Jeff Hunter of Wickes, Arkansas, Lisa and James Clement of Ben Lomond, Arkansas, Kelly and Tate Mitchell of Nashville, Arkansas, Brandie Posey of De Queen, Robert “Bud” and Micki Jo Posey of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and Jay Johnson of Del Rio, Texas, fifteen great-grandchildren, Cody Clement, CJ Bryant, Chance Hunter, Kori Southerland, Cheyanna Shuler, Carson Hunter, Keelan Hathaway, Cole Posey, Catlin Carver, Brayden Inchcliff, Kinly Posey, Bryant Roberts, Culley Roberts, Jaycie Johson, and Jadyn Johnson, six great-great-grandchildren, Adyson Clement, Gaige Clement, Gunner Clement, Rhealeigh Tucker, Parker Crow, and Haydyn Hunter, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Robbie Jo Houser will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 2, 2017 in the Bellville Cemetery Pavilion, Lockesburg, Arkansas with Rev. Terry Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in the Bellville Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, September 1, 2017 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Bellville Cemetery Association, P O Box 41, Lockesburg, AR 71846.
