Ineata "Marie" Phillips
Mrs. Ineata “Marie” Phillips, age 73, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Friday, July 28, 2017, in Texarkana, Texas.
She was born on December 26, 1943, in Atlanta, Texas. She was the owner of Marie’s Corner Cupboard and was a devout Christian.
Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Opal Echols, her mother, Dorothy Burdette; sister, Mae Billingsley, brothers, Calvin Amos, Frank Amos, Arley Echols and Bill Beyleu.
She is survived by her husband, Gale Phillips; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Jesse and Mary Thrapp of Texarkana, Texas, Jerry Thrapp of De Queen, Wade and Kristen Thrapp of De Queen, and Gale Phillips, Jr. of Oregon; one daughter, Tonya Marie Thrapp, also of De Queen; 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Gene Amos and wife Merle, Dan Echols and wife Judy all of Abilene, Texas, Jerry Echols and wife Sandra of Gilmer, Texas and Paul Echols and wife Tammy of Linden, Texas; one sister-in-law, Sharon Amos of Linden, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Phillips will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at the Chapel Hill Cemetery with Tim Johnson officiating under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 2nd before the service.
Z. Lorene Steiner
Mrs. Z. Lorene Paschen Steiner, age 86, a resident of Winthrop, Arkansas, died Saturday, July 29, 2017, in Texarkana, Texas.
She was born May 15, 1931, in Clovis, New Mexico. She was retired from Domtar and was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Winthrop.
Mrs. Steiner was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Maurice Steiner and four brothers, Eugene, William, Brazzy and Benjamin Paschen.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Sherry Steiner of Winthrop and Billy and Karissa Steiner of Ashdown, Arkansas; two daughters and a son-in-law, Edna Morphew of Nash, Texas and Emma and Larry Cook of Winthrop; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; one very special niece, Vanita Thornton of Walnut Grove, Mississippi and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Steiner will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 2, 2017, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Terry Hess and Bobby Kesterson officiating. Burial will follow in Campground Cemetery.
Samuel "Sam" G. O'Dell
Mr. Samuel G. O’Dell, age 87, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Thursday, July 27, 2017, in De Queen.
He was born February 13, 1930, in De Queen. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of De Queen.
Mr. O’Dell was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Henderson; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a number of nieces and nephews; and a friend who loved him very much.
A private memorial service for Mr. Samuel O’Dell will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Ima Jean Wommack Jones
Mrs. Ima Jean Wommack Jones, resident of Lone Camp, Texas formally Gillham, King Community, died Saturday March 11, 2017, in Mineral Wells Texas.
She was born July 29, 1935 in Sevier County to J.T. and Mattie Bell Wommack. She was a graduate of Gillham High School class of 1953. She married Edythe Earl "Wimpy" Jones May 15, 1953. Her passion in life was reading. She wanted to learn something new everyday.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Jay Alan and a sister, Christine Johnson.
Survivors include a son, Edythe Glen, daughters, Cynthia Jean, Linda Kay, and Vicki Lynn, a sister, Lamoid Schneider, grandchildren: Trinity, Meredith, Crystal, Lauren, Jay, Joseph, Alan, Aaron; Great-grandchildren, Brittany, Kayleann, Alisondra, Gianna, Trevor, Elise, Hailey and Maddux.
Arbus Arvil "Slim" Manns
Mr. Arbus Arvil “Slim” Manns, age 78, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Sunday, July 23, 2017 at his home.
He was born to Roy and Martha Mahala Rackley Manns in Russellville, Arkansas on February 10, 1939. He was plant manager for Pilgrim’s Pride, retiring with 32 years service. He had a passion for fishing, deer hunting, and fish fries, but most of all, he cherished the time spent with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Ima Jean Johnston, and a son, Alex Rubi.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Alvarado Manns of De Queen, five sons, Terry Manns, Jeffery Manns, Jose and his wife, Maria Rubi, Eric Rubi, and Andy Arce all of De Queen, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Brenda and Bob Black of Arkadelphia, Sheila and Mark Price of Oklahoma, and Nevena Manns of De Queen, nine grandchildren, Jonathan Black, Mary Beth Powell, Jakorby Powell, Kane Price, Tara Price, Amanda Hatler, John Hatler, Dusty Manns, and Kagan Smith, ten great-grandchildren, Carter Black, Dakota Black, Ethan Black, Mattie Powell, Jakya Powell, Caden Cline, Jennifer Caudle, Jaycee Price, Alexyz Level-Holleman, and Lincoln Hatler, two brothers and a sister -in-law, Charles and Louise Manns, and Dorothy Foster both of Russellville, Arkansas. Slim is also survived by his wife's family, five brothers-in-law, Silvano, and his wife, Juana Alvarado, Thomas and his wife, Ellie Alvarado, and Juan Alvarado all of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Ciro Alvarado of De Queen, Arkansas, and Auden Alvarado of Dallas, Texas, three sisters-in-law, Mary Alvarado, Aida Chavez, both of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and Dioceni Anderson of Winnsboro, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Slim Manns will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 27, 2017 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Ciro Alvarado officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, De Queen, Arkansas.
Elvin Cleone Harrison, Jr.
Mr. Elvin Cleone Harrison, Jr. age 70, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Sunday, July 23, 2017, in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
He was born June 18, 1947, in Foreman, Arkansas. He was a retired postal worker, worked in the Wickes School System for 5 years and was an employee of Sevier County. Mr. Harrison was a member of the Geneva Missionary Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the Arkansas Razorbacks and Dallas Cowboys.
Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by his parents, Elvin Harrison, Sr. and Pauline Faye Wilson Harrison.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Golden Harrison; three daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Frank Lands of Italy, Maryann and George Frachiseur of Grannis and Christy and Scott Higgins of Texarkana, Arkansas; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Aaron and Devin Harrison of Louisville, Kentucky, Matthew Harrison of Foreman, Arkansas and Kevin McAda of Dallas, Texas two sisters, Judie Harrison and Jackie Alves both of De Queen; one brother, Bobby Harrison of Horatio, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Trevor Williams, Layne Williams, Ethan Harrison, Elliott Harrison and Tiffany Sullivan; two great-grandchildren, Parker Sullivan and Mia Sullivan; two special friends, Harrell Sherwood and Kenneth Bryan and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Elvin Harrison will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2017, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Travis Lane officiating. Cremation will follow.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 25th at the funeral home.
Mr. John Smith
Mr. John D. Smith, age 66, a resident of Schulenburg, Texas, former resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in Schulenburg, Texas.
He was born to William D. and Juanita Evelyn Plunkett Smith on September 18, 1950. He was a 1968 graduate of De Queen High School, where he ran track for the De Queen Leopards.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Barbara Smith, and a brother, Tom Smith.
He is survived by four brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Ruby Smith of Fennville, Michigan, Dewey and Mary Ann Smith of Wayland, Michigan, Carl Smith of De Queen, and Charles Smith of Altus, Oklahoma.
