William Douglas Peppers

William Douglas Peppers, infant son of Steven and Margaret Peppers, residents of De Queen, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003 in Wadley Regional Medical Center at Texarkana.

Memorial services are pending and will be announced later by Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.

Besides his parents, he is survived by one brother, Dennis Wayne Peppers of De Queen; two sisters, Bonnie Grace Peppers of Broken Bow, Okla., and Ruby Abigail Peppers of De Queen; his grandparents, Dennis and Wallie Peppers of De Queen and Wayne and Frances Brawley of Silsbee, Tex.; his great-grandparents, Lillie Mae Nash of De Queen, Dell Peppers of Glenwood, and Mildred Moore of Silsbee, Tex.

Michael Scott Gambill

Michael Scott Gambill, age 45, resident of Texarkana, Tex., died Monday, May 26, 2003 in Wadley Regional Medical Center at Texarkana.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31 in Cossatot cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

He was born March 10, 1958 in Memphis, Tenn., to Marvin Gambill and Norma Crenshaw Kyle; and was an electrician.

He is survived by one son, Michael Gambill of Wenatchee, Wash.; his mother; one sister, Sandra L. Roberts of Texarkana, Tex.; and one brother, Marvin B. Gambill Jr. of Nashville, Tenn.

Oscar "Dock" Young

Oscar T. "Dock" Young, age 92 of Umpire, died Monday, August 25, 2003.

He was born on January 10, 1911, at Umpire, the son of Riley Young and Fanny Townsend Young. On September 14, 1932, he was married to Snow Flake Davis Young, who preceded him in death on July 27, 2001. He was also preceded in death by one sister, four brothers, and one son-in-law, Reece Manasco.

He was a member of the Umpire Free Holiness Church. "Dock" was a retired poultry farmer and formerly owned and operated Young's Grocery at Athens.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, R. B. and Wanda Sue Young of Ashdown; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Evelyn Manasco, Belva and Larry Pinkerton, and Ruth and Don Vaughn, all of Umpire; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mazie Keith Kesterson of Umpire; and one sister-in-law, Bonnie Davis of Umpire.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 28, 2003, in the Umpire Free Holiness Church with Don Vaughn, Keith Vaughn, and Scott Vaughn officiating.

Visitation was Wednesday, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Interment was in the Cedar Hill cemetery, under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.

Pallbearers were grandsons and great-grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers were SPC. Chris Kitchens, his great-grandson now serving in "Operation Enduring Freedom" in Iraq; also, Raymond Faulkner, Gerald Greene, Bob Seals, and Flenoia Manasco.

Elouise Loftis

Mrs. Elouise Marie (Gill) Loftis, age 83, a resident of Horatio, died Thurs-day, August 28, 2003 in the De Queen Regional Medical Center.

Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 31 in the Horatio cemetery with Rev. J. L. Walker officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

She was born May 24, 1920 in Spiro, Okla. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Smith and Virgie Gardner Gill.

She is survived by her husband: Claude B. Loftis of Horatio; four daughters: Virginia McCauley of Hurst, Tex., Vanita Foster of Ft. Worth, Tex., Vicky Lou Loftis of Seagoville, Tex., and Vonda Johnson of Houston, Tex.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Winnie Sirmon

Mrs. Winnie (Musgrave) Sirmon, age 83, a resident of Dierks, died Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at her home.

She was born Saturday, February 14, 1920 in Galena, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dierks.

Mrs. Sirmon was preceded in death by her parents: Dempsey and Sarah Elizabeth Luster Musgrave; her husband: Jame Arvie Sirmon; and 11 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law: Byrl Sirmon of Longview, Texas and Dennis and Rebecca Sirmon of Dierks; two daughters and sons-in-law: Phyllis and Dwight Sharp of Umpire and Karen and Bill Wakley of Athens; 10 grandchildren: Jimmy Sirmon, Rhonda Sirmon, Bridget Wilson, Adam Sirmon, An-gela Allman, Wesley Wakley, Jenny Moore, Claudia Arthur, Michael Sharp and Dustin Wakley; 10 great-grandchildren: Caitlyn Sirmon, Conner Sirmon, John Arthur, Megan Arthur, Kaitlyn Wakley, Chloe Wakley, Alex Sharp, Jacob Sharp, Austin Allman, and Trey Allman; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sirmon were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 29, 2003 in the Mt. Zion Church in Athens with Bill Wakley and John Henry Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Athens cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family received friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 28 at the funeral home in Dierks.

Diane McGhee

Diane Dodson McGhee, 67, died August 3, 2003, in Longwood, Fla.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Terence J. McGhee of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; her daughter, Margaret McGhee of Washington, DC; her sister, Charline Coulter of Longview, Tex.; her brother and sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Dwight Dodson of Fayetteville, Ark.; and five nieces and nephews: Beth Coulter Lana-gan of Little Rock, Ark., Lee Ann Dodson of Gainesville, Fla., and Dana Dyk-man, Charles Dodson, and Allen Dodson of Fayetteville, Ark.

Diane, the daughter of Charles and Thelma Dodson, graduated from De Queen High School. She was an honor graduate of Henderson State University and the University of Arkansas. She attended postgraduate school at the University of Kansas and studied in Mexico and Spain as a Fulbright Scholar.

Diane was a faculty member at Southeast Missouri State College in Cape Geradeau, Mo.; Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans, La.; Lafayette College in Easton, Pa.; and Cedarcrest College in Allentown, Pa.

Graveside memorial services will be held in De Queen, Ark., Redmen cemetery, Saturday, August 30, 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Ruth Adah Faidley

Ruth Adah Faidley, age 90, resident of Prairie City, IA., died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003 in Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29 in Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax. Burial was held in Six Mile cemetery in Hatfield, Ark., on Sunday, Aug. 31 at 3 p.m. under the direction of Coburn Funeral Home of Colfax.

She was born Aug. 3, 1913 in Prairie City, IA., to Charles H. and Mable L. Jones Phearman; graduated from Prairie City High School in 1931; was united in marriage to Darrell E. Faidley on Feb. 19, 1942; and was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Prairie City.

She is survived by three daughters, Phyllis Faidley of Colfax, IA., Linda Beem of Nevada, and Shirley Smith of De Queen; a son, Ronald Faidley of Brooklyn; a sister, Mildred Pilkington of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church building fund or the Colfax Senior Citizen Center.

Harvey Morris

Mr. James Harvey Morris, age 58, resident of Crescent, Oklahoma died Tuesday, August 12, 2003, after losing his battle with cancer.

He was born April 19, 1945 in De Queen, Arkansas, to Buck and Minnie Morris of Gillham. After graduation from Gillham High School in 1963 he attended Southern State College in Magnolia, Ark., majoring in Animal Science and Ag-riculture Education. He was a member of the livestock judging team there. Af-ter two years at Southern State he transferred to OSU in Stillwater, Oklahoma. While at OSU, his junior year, he won first place individual and his team won first place at the annual senior college livestock judging contest at the Southwestern Exposition in Fort Worth, Texas. After graduating from OSU he attended Texas A&M.; He then accepted a professorship at Southern State, then returned to Oklahoma. For the past 33 years, he had worked at the Oklahoma City Stockyards as a cattle broker.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Thomas "Buck" Morris in Septem-ber 2000, and a brother, Johnny Morris in April 1999 and a nephew, Brian Mor-ris in August 2001.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Linda; three sons and daughter-in-law: Shawn of Guthrie, Okla., Jammie and Misty of Crescent, Okla., and Jeffrey of Santa Clara, Calif.; one daughter and son-in-law: Shannon and Craig Freitag of Santa Clara, Calif.; two grandsons: Blake and Tristan; four granddaughters: Savannah, Michaela, Sonita, and Savanna; his mother, Minnie Morris of Gillham; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Marvin and Tina Morris of Oklahoma City, Okla., David and Donna Morris, and Scottie and Shelly Morris, both of Gillham; two sisters and brother-in-law: Sandra and Dale Oglesby and Kathy Saddler, all of Gillham, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Harvey Morris were held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, August 15, 2003 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, De Queen. Burial followed in the Overturf cemetery, Gillham.

Samuel Clabe Bullard Jr.

Samuel Clabe Bullard Jr., age 51, resident of Lockesburg, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003 at his home.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2 in Belleville cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.

He was born Dec. 4, 1951 in Oklahoma to Samuel Clabe Sr. and Anita Jewell Edge Bullard; and was a carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Jana Polk Bullard of Lockesburg; one son, Joshua Clabe Bullard of Lock-esburg; one daughter, Jacqueline Wenona Angerbauer of Rison; one stepdaughter, Marcie Markle of Lockesburg; two stepsons, Jamie Wake of De Queen and Jeremy Wake of Lockesburg; two brothers, Jackie Carl Bullard of Grove, Okla., and Paul Bullard of Tampa Bay, Fla.; two sisters, Carol Tasso of Kingfisher, Okla., and Tammy Bunn of Texarkana; one half-brother, Kenneth Bullard of Texarkana; and six grandchildren.
