Mr. Thomas Vernon Hendershot

Mr. Thomas Vernon Hendershot, age 65, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Thursday, April 27, 2017, in Texarkana, Texas.

He was born September, 14, 1951, in Saginaw, Michigan. He was a truck driver for Jack B. Kelly Trucking Company. He loved fishing, cooking, and watching deer off of his deck.

Mr. Hendershot was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Carse Hendershot, and one sister, Karen Sue Hendershot.

He is survived by his wife, Becky Lewis Hendershot; one son and daughter-in-law, Chancy and Onna Hendershot of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, Beau, Dalton, and Xander Hendershot; and one brother-in-law, Lawrence Lewis of De Queen.

There is no service scheduled at this time.

Memorials may be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

Douglas Edward Guire

Mr. Douglas Edward Guire, age 58, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas, died Sunday, April 23, 2017, at his home.

He was born November 19, 1958, in Eagletown, Oklahoma. He was a landscaper and was a member of First Baptist Church in Gillham.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Orval Cash and Betty Price Guire and one brother, Lee Guire.

He is survived by one daughter, Crystal Springs of Michigan; one sister, Laura Ann Guire Roberts of Bogata, Texas and one brother, Micheal Wayne Guire of Gillham.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 29, 2017, in the Almond Church in Gillham with Steven Chenoweth officiating. Cremation arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Tonya Lynn Golden

Mrs. Tonya Lynn Golden, age 46, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Friday, April 21, 2017 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

She was born May 10, 1970 in Arcata, California. She was a homemaker and attended the Beacon Hill SDA Church.

She is survived by one son, Darrel Odom of De Queen; one daughter, Jessica Odom of North Little Rock, Arkansas; her mother, Barbara Westbrook of De Queen, and a number of cousins and friends.

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Golden will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 25, 2017, in the Overturf Cemetery with Rev. Homer Frachiseur officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Arturo Gonzalez Tovar

A Mass of Christian burial for Arturo Gonzalez Tovar age 42, will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 21, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marshall, TX where Mr. Gonzalez was a longtime member. Celebrating the Mass will be Father Luis Arroyave. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00-8:00 PM with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 PM at Sullivan Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Marshall.

Arturo was born December 2, 1974 in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato Mexico to Maria Isabel Tovar and Jose Gonzalez. He passed away unexpectedly on April 17, 2017 in Marshall due to a work related accident.

Arturo was a supervisor at Marshall Pottery where he had worked for the past 11 years. He was a very loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. He enjoyed taking his children to the movies, camping and watching them compete in sports! Arturo liked to cook and just spend time with his friends and family but, above all he loved spoiling his wife!

Mr. Gonzalez was proceeded in death by his maternal grandparents, Nasario Tovar and Encarnacion Mosqueda; parental grandparents, Cruz Gonzalez and Erculana Zarate; two uncles, Nicolas and Pedro Gonzalez; and aunt, Aurora Gonzalez all of San Miguel de Allende Gto, MX; and his nephew, Zachery Ledbetter of Marshall, TX.

He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Evelia Rios Gonzalez; son, Kevin Arturo Gonzalez; two daughters, Gabriela Evett and Sopia Elane Gonzalez all of Marshall; parents, Maria Isabel Tovar and Jose Gonzalez of San Miguel de Allende Gto, MX; 43 nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members, as well as a host of friends.

Mary Sue Wherley

Ms. Mary Sue Wherley, age 85, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Dierks Health and Rehab.

She was born July 27, 1931 in Mississippi. She was a first grade school teacher in Pine Bluff, Arkansas for thirty years and a member of the First Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.

Ms. Wherley was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Gladys Keller Wherley and her sister, Helen Ivy.

She is survived by one nephew, John Ivy and his wife Rhonda of Bloomburg, Texas and one niece, Laura Ivy of Ft. Smith, Arkansas one great-niece, Chelsea Ivy and one great-nephew, Colby Ivy.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2017, at the Mt. Ida Cemetery in De Queen, Arkansas with Sue Ellen Hall officiating under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Billie Fern Callan Brake

Mrs. Billie Fern Callan Brake, age 80, a resident of Winthrop, Arkansas, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Bear Creek Healthcare in De Queen, Arkansas.

She was born August 26, 1936 in Foreman, Arkansas. She was an employee of Texas Instruments, a homemaker, and a cafeteria worker at North Garland High School and member of the Highland Park Baptist Church.

Mrs. Brake was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Christine Campbell Callan; and one brother, Cecil Campbell Callan.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and John Billingsley of Winthrop; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Scott and Susan Butler of Shererville, Indiana, Rex and Lisa Butler of Merrillville, Indiana, and Tom Butler of Foreman; one sister, Susie Green of Houston, Texas; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Amber Billingsley, Luke and Amanda Billingsley, Alyssa and Robert Simmons, Daniel and Janelle Butler, Nathan Butler, Stephen Butler, Alaina Butler, Stefanie Butler, and Mary Butler; two great grandchildren, Ava and Anna Billingsley; a number of nieces and nephews and father of her children and good friend, Bob Butler.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Highland Park Baptist Church in Texarkana, Texas with Bro. Kevin Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Dollarhide Cemetery in Foreman under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Mrs. Ruthie Marshall

Mrs. Ruthie M. Chandler Marshall, age 82, a life-long resident of Sevier County, Arkansas, died Monday, April 17, 2017, from injuries received in an automobile accident.

She was born to Roy and Alta Ramsey Chandler in the Westline Community of Sevier County on January 20, 1935. She was a member of the Chapel Hill Baptist Church, and a homemaker. She enjoyed painting, gardening, cooking, fishing, crafts, and cherished the time spent with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Most of all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, William “Tip” Chandler, and Roy Chandler, Jr., and in 2014, her husband of more than 61 years, Ted Marshall.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Glen and Sharla Marshall of Kennewick, Washington, and Jerry Marshall of De Queen, two daughters and sons-in-law, Nina and John McDonnell, and Carla and Farryl Barnes all of De Queen, six grandchildren and their spouses, Ryan and Suprina Marshall, Lane Marshall, Clayton and Candice McDonnell, Kelsey McDonnell, Jayme Barnes, Sydney and Will Bailey, seven great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Brayden, Jadi, Marli, Lynnlee, Benjamin, and Zaidyn, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Ruthie Marshall will be held Friday, April 21, 2017 at 11:00 A.M., in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Homer Frachiseur, and Bro. Shane Haarmeyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
