Johnny Wilson

Johnny Wilson, who resided in De Queen, Arkansas, formerly of Lavaca, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born October 1, 1937, in Poteau, Oklahoma. He was 79 years old. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cleo (Turk) Wilson; a son, John Edward Wilson; and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Wilson, the late wife of Mitchell Ward Wilson.

Johnny retired from the offshore oil industry, living in the Canary Islands, Venezuela, Singapore, and Spain. Johnny served in the Arkansas Air National Guards, and he was a member of First Baptist Church in De Queen.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 28th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Jeff Holland officiating. Burial will be at Morris Cemetery in Bloomer, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Joanne (Ward) Wilson; three sons, Mitchell Ward Wilson of De Queen, Ronald Wade Wilson and wife Misty of Nashville, Arkansas, and Chad Hamilton and wife Maggy of Van Buren; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Franzen, Zach Hodges, Nathan Hodges, T.J. Bigham, Bobby Craig, Gary Hunter, and David Hunter.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask donations be made to Maggie House @ 1005 Second St. Charleston, Arkansas 72933. The Maggie House is a shelter or a home that was created to provide housing for children that have been abused and neglected. Michael Ray "Mike" Reese

Michael Ray “Mike” Reese, age 63, a resident of Mena, Arkansas died Friday, March 24, 2017 at his home.

He was born April 4, 1953 in Oceola, Ohio. He was a truck driver, a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of the Northside Church of Christ in Mena.

Mr. Reese was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Gladys Burt Reese; a daughter, Tiffany Reese and two sisters, Terry Lynn Reese Cosby and Karla Jo Reese Lamb.

He is survived by his ex-wife, Ava Reese of Mena; two sons, Robert Reese and Kenneth Reese, both of Tiffin, Ohio; two brothers, Karl Reese of Ohio and John Reese of Mineral Springs, Arkansas; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Reese will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017 in the Sunshine Cemetery in Dierks with Jeremy Jones officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2017 at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

Mrs. Frances James

Mrs. Frances Marie Mageson James, age 68, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in Christus St. Michael’s Health Center.

She was born in Corpus Christie, Texas, on June 6, 1948. She was a member of the Rose Hill Baptist Church, and was a homemaker. She enjoyed studying her Bible, Cross Stitch, and was an avid reader.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Alice Abraham Mageson, and a sister, Jackie Miller.

She is survived by her husband, Ed James of De Queen, two daughters, Marie Thornburgh of De Queen, and Ruth Ann Sirkel of Missouri, nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be at a later date. Cremation under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Cirilo Hernandez Trujillo

Mr. Cirilo Hernandez Trujillo, age 62, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas.

He was born to Martin Hernandez and Refugio Trujillo in San Felipe, Guanajuato, Mexico on June 5, 1954. He worked in sanitation at Pilgrim’s for 19 years, and was a member of St. Barbara’s Catholic Church. He was a loving father who always put his family first no matter how hard the situation might have gotten. A strong man who always found a way to make ends meet, never once did you give up. He always loved being with family and friends. A man filled with life whom everybody knew as a cheerful person, always smiling, laughing and making jokes. Strong healing hands that always knew how to fix anything. Always building and creating a better way to accommodate our big family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and four siblings, Elias Hernandez, Sebastian Hernandez, Ramon Hernandez, and Senayda Hernandez.

He is survived by his wife of more than 25 years, Maria Hernandez, of De Queen, three sons and a daughter-in-law, Josh Elizondo and Edith Zaragoza, David Hernandez, and Alejandro “Alex”
Hernandez all of De Queen, five daughters and sons-in-law, Veronica Ceballos and Cristian, Norma and Alfonso Gutierrez, Patricia Hernandez, Yessica Hernandez, and Angelica Hernandez all of De Queen, two brothers, Benjamin Hernandez of Reynosa, Mexico, and Jose Hernandez of Springdale, Arkansas, one sister, Abrami Hernandez of Reynosa, Mexico, five grandchildren, Jairdan G. Elizondo, Isabella Ceballos, Nathan Ceballos, Aaron Gutierrez and Leila Gutierrez all of De Queen.

Visitation and a Rosary will be Thursday, March 23, 2017, beginning at 3:00 P.M., at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M., March 24, 2017 at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church, Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Chandler Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services will be Saturday, March 25, 2017, at 10:00 A.M., in Redmen Cemetery, De Queen, Under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Mrs. Diana Lynn Tubbs Richardson

Mrs. Diana Lynn Tubbs Richardson, age 60, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born November 11, 1956 in Phoenix, Arizona. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Richardson was preceded in death by her father, Robert Tubbs and her mother and step-father, Lester and Naomi Green Ayers.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Dawn Richardson of Dierks and Brian and Juana Richardson of Greenville, Texas; one daughter, Tammy Richardson of Dierks; one sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Kenneth Cook of San Angelo, Texas; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Michael and Tammy Ayers of Houston, Texas and Dennis Ayers of Wetherford, Texas; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service for Mrs. Richardson will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Holly Creek Baptist Church in Dierks with Clyde Miller officiating.

Mr. John Cravens

Mr. John Wesley Cravens, age 100, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Saturday, March 18, 2017 in Christus St. Michael Hospital, Texarkana Texas.

He was born to Oscar C., Sr. and Mary Turrentine Cravens in Lockesburg, Arkansas, on November 28, 1916. Mr. Cravens was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U. S. Marine Corps. He was a retired construction worker as well as a farmer. He was a member of the Macedonia United Methodist Church of Lockesburg, Arkansas, He was an avid hunter, as well as enjoying sports, gardening, and had a gift of story-telling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Herman Cravens, Carl Cravens, Lester Cravens, Oscar Cravens, Jr., Ruth Wright, Daisy Cabean, Esther Sampson, a son, Fredrick Cravens, and his wife, Raydell Wright Cravens.

He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon and Wendell Smart of Wichita, Kansas, and Frederica Wytch of Landover, Maryland, five grandchildren, Cynthia Smart of Kansas City, Kansas, Angela Cravens of Wichita, Kansas, Michael Cravens, Sr. of San Antonio, Texas, Keith Smart of Lockesburg, and Ruth Cravens of San Antonio, Texas, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, a sister, Melba Taylor of Caruthersville, Missouri, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. John Cravens will be held Friday, March 24, 2017 at 5:00 P.M., at the First United Methodist Church in Lockesburg. Burial with military rites will be held in Holly Springs Cemetery, Lockesburg, Arkansas. Visitation will be Friday, March 24th from 3:30 P.M., until service time.

Mr. Lee Glastal Myers, Jr.

Mr. Lee Glastal Myers, Jr., age 61, a resident of Winthrop, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.

He was born May 30, 1955 in Marshall, Texas. He was a long haul truck driver, carpenter and minister. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church in De Queen, Arkansas and Church in The Wildwood in Winthrop.

Mr. Myers preceded in death by his parents, Lee Glastal, Sr. and Clara Elizabeth Stanton Myers; one son, Issac Myers and mother-in-law, Margaret Fross Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Susan E. Wilgus Myers; three daughters and two sons; Kristan Myers Kahler of Orre City, Texas, Lee G. Myers III, of San Antonio, Texas, Amanda Overturf of Nashville, Arkansas, Candace Myers Wolcott of Horatio, Arkansas and Andrew Bergum of Hector, Minnesota; one sister, Mary and (John) Overturf of De Queen; father-in-law, Bernard W. Miller of Shippenville, Pensylvania; twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Memorial service and dinner to follow will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 23, 2017 with Louise Haney and Alfred Thomas officiating, in the Church in The Wildwood for family and friends to celebrate his life.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Donations may be made to Mt. Pleasant Church, Church in The Wildwood or to his wife in his memory.
