Mary Jo “Scotty” Scott Brainerd
Mrs. Mary Jo “Scotty” Scott Brainerd, age 95, a resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, died Monday, March 6, 2017, in Tulsa.
She was born August 3, 1921, in Ultima Thule, Arkansas. She was the secretary of Brainerd Chemical Company and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Holiday Island, Arkansas.
Mrs. Brainerd was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Essie Allen Scott and her husband, Harold Brainerd, Jr.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen Scott and Sandie Brainerd of Ponte Vedra, Florida, Harold Webster Brainerd III and Betty Brainerd of Tazwell, Virginia and Mathew Allen and Kathy Brainerd of Tulsa, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Brainerd will be held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, March 11, 2017, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Redmen Cemetery.
John Joseph O'Connor, Jr.
Mr. John Joseph O’Connor, Jr., age 75, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Thursday, March 02, 2017, in De Queen.
He was born to John Joseph and Mary Rose Moran O’Connor in Springfield, Mass., on February 19, 1942. He was a retired real estate agent, and a Catholic. He enjoyed the stock market, and fantasy football.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter-in-law, Lori O’Connor.
He is survived by one son, John O’Connor of De Queen, a daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Duane Alspaw of De Queen, four grandchildren, Deven Alspaw of De Queen, Cal O’Connor of Springdale, Arkansas, Clay Alspaw and Sammi O’Connor both of De Queen, two brothers, Billy O’Connor of Oregon, and Michael O’Connor of San Diego, Calif., a sister, Maureen Hughes of Santee, Calif, and a number of nieces and nephews.
No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
Juanita Hyutha Moore White
Mrs. Juanita Hyutha Moore White, age 64, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Saturday, March 4, 2017, at her home.
She was born on November 13, 1952 in Pigsgey, Arkansas. She was a USDA Food Safety Inspector and a member of the First Baptist Church in De Queen.
Mrs. White was preceded in death by his parents, John Harbon and Lucy Mae Allen Moore and one son, James Harold White, Jr.
She is survived by two daughters, Rachel White of De Queen and Denice White of Centerville, Arkansas; one son, Greg White of De Queen; one sister, Elizabeth Reynolds of Clovis, California; her grandchildren, James Levi White and wife Jazmon, Casey Lane White, Faith White, Chenoa White, Jared White, Sarah White, Colton White; two great-grandchildren, Luke White and Harmony White; and a daughter in law, Courtney White.
Funeral services for Mrs. Juanita White will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 11, 2017, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, March 10th at the funeral home.
William Harland Hendricks, Jr.
Mr. William Harland “Sammy” Hendricks, Jr., age 79, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Friday, March 3, 2017 in Texarkana, Arkansas.
He was born August 19, 1937 in De Queen. He was retired from Weyerhaeuser, was a former teacher; a member of the Army National Guard and a Christian.
Mr. Hendricks was preceded in death by his parents, William Hendricks, Sr. and Mary Iona Hendrix; one sister, Gwen DeMoss and one granddaughter, Shauna Oswald.
He is survived by his wife, Fonda Hill of De Queen; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Leslie and Ronny Bates of Hooks, Texas, Margaret Reavis of Texarkana, Texas, Marsie and Gary Oswald of Texarkana, Arkansas and Rani and James Dodez of Tyler, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Patia Hendricks of Texarkana, Arkansas and Scott and Amy Shores of Lincoln, Rhode Island; his brothers and sisters, Patricia Nemeth of Madison, Illinois, Priscilla Saelim of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Glenn Munn of San Antonio, Texas, Starlyn Fairchild of Grayslake, Illinois, Terry Hendricks of Aloha, Oregon, Roberta Weisemes of Aurora, Illinois and Tommy Hendricks of Ocean View, Hawaii; 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Mr. Hendricks will be held at 4:30 p.m., Monday, March 6, 2017, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel.
Mary Lynda Harberson
Mrs. Mary Lynda Harberson, age 70, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Friday, March 3, 2017, in Little Rock, Arkansas.
She was born April 14, 1946, in Dierks. She was a former employee of Baldwin Piano Company, Tyson Foods and worked at several convenience stores in Dierks. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Dierks.
Mrs. Harberson was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Savannah Kesterson Goss; her husband, Bobby Joe Harberson and one brother, Barney Goss.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Darla and Tony Davis of Langley, Arkansas; one brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Phyllis Goss of Nashville, Arkansas; one sister, Betty Dinger of Dierks; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Thelma Harberson of Dierks; one grandson, Bobby Davis and his wife, Brittney; two great-grandchildren, Adi Davis and Bryar Davis and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Harberson will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Harmony Cemetery with Tommy Mounts officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, March 6th at the funeral home in Dierks.
Jeani Karin (J.K.) Nealy Hornsby
Mrs. Jeani Karin (J.K.) Nealy Hornsby, age 28, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Friday, March 3, 2017 in De Queen.
She was born June 25, 1988 in Texarkana, Texas. She was a Juvenile Probation Officer and a member of Kern Heights Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hornsby was preceded in death by her grandfather, Jerry Killian.
She is survived by her husband, Cody Hornsby; one daughter, Chanli Hornsby; her parents Patti and Tracy Nealy of De Queen; one sister, Nikki Nealy of De Queen; grandparents, Jean Killian and Tommy and Judy Moore all of De Queen; her mother and father-in-law, John and Amy Hornsby of Okolona, Arkansas; and one sister-in-law and her husband, Kinsey and Chase Melton of Sheridan, Arkansas.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hornsby will be held at 10: a.m., Monday, March 6, 2017, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rusty Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Redmen Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Effie Irene Wylie
Irene went to be with the Lord on February 23, 2017. She was born August 14, 1954 in Dallas, Texas.
Irene was born to be a caregiver. This started when she was a young teenager and her brother Joey was injured in a car accident and she cared for him. She cared for both of her parents before their deaths. Then right after the death of her mother, and also becoming a new mother herself, she took the responsibility of caring for her sister. She cared for her sister for thirty-four years before she became too ill to care for her just a few months ago. Irene was also a caring and loving “Nana” to her two precious granddaughters.
Irene worked at Reserve Life Insurance Company in Dallas, Texas for many years. When she moved to De Queen, she worked for Leonard Woods Insurance and also for the Sevier County Water Association. Irene and her husband, Melvin initiated the beginning of the Rural Water Association. Upon moving to the Benton area, she worked for U.S. Able Insurance in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Irene was preceded in death by her Mother and Dad: Ona and Robert Ferguson, Brothers: Joey and Bobby Ferguson, Eugene and Rufus White.
Irene is survived by her husband of forty-four years, Melvin; her daughter Christy & Mark; two granddaughters, Abigail and Maci Steele and one sister, Wanda (Peach) White and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Effie Irene Ferguson Wylie will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Will Diggs officiating. Burial will follow in Redmen Cemetery in De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. A memorial service will also be held Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Ten Mile Missionary Baptist Church at Lonsdale, Arkansas.
