Toyee Glenn Davis

Toyee Glenn Davis, age 79, was a resident of Sheridan and formerly of De Queen, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at his home.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28 in Bui Funeral Home in Sheridan.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Sheridan. He was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eutah Davis, Sr.

He is survived by his wife, LaVerne Springer Davis; one son, Jeffrey Glenn Davis; one daughter, Sarah Ann Bowling; two brothers, Eldon Davis of Shreveport, La. and Eutah Davis Jr. of De Queen; two sisters, Thelma Davis Cowden of De Queen and Dottie Davis Norwood of Moran, Tex.; four grandchildren, five great-grand-children and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mary Helen Gibson

Mrs. Mary Helen Stokes Gibson, age 94, a resident of Dierks, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2003 in the Dierks Nursing Center.

She was born on September 12, 1908 to B. S. and Mary Stokes in Pike County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Dierks Church of Christ.

Mrs. Gibson was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Gibson on February 1, 2001.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: F. D. and Charlotte Gibson of Dierks; two daughters and sons-in-law: Vinita Sue and Bill Faulkner of Dierks and Oleta Fay and A. G. Hunter of Madras, Oregon; one sister-in-law: Dessie Rivers of Amarillo, Texas; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services of Mrs. Gibson were held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2003 in the Dierks Church of Christ with James McRae officiating. Burial followed in the Sunshine cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, January 27, at the funeral home in Dierks.

William Cecil Axton

Mr. William Cecil Axton, age 86, a resident of Dierks, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2003 in the Dierks Nursing Center.

He was born on April 6, 1916 in Howard County to John and Betty Potts Axton. He was a farmer, worked at the Dierks Lumber Company for 22 years, and was a charter member of the Assembly of God Church in Dierks.

Mr. Axton was preceded in death by his first wife: Lola Lee Gilbert Axton and one brother: Lecil Axton.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Alma and Bill Frachiseur of Dierks; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law: Karen and Randall Allen of Dierks; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law: Patrick and Sarah Frachiseur of Dierks; two sisters: Oma James of Ft. Worth and Edna Axton of Dierks; four great-grandchildren: Kameron Allen, Kirby Allen, Trey Frachiseur and Peyton Frachiseur; a special niece: Patsy James of Ft. Worth; his wife: Lois Axton of Dierks; three step-children: Wanda, Mickey and Jean; and a number of other nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Axton will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 31, 2003 in the Assembly of God Church in Dierks with Rev. Henry Bateman and Rev. Bryan Peck officiating. Burial will follow in the Dierks cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Tursday, January 30 at the funeral home in Dierks and Friday, January 31 at 1:00 p.m. at the church.

Ruby Lee Cobb

Mrs. Ruby Lee (Conatser) Cobb, age 88, a resident of Horatio, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2003 in Brookewood Nursing Center in De Queen.

She was born on October 3, 1914 to Ola and Mamie (Gore) Conatser in the Lone Oak Community of Horatio.

Mrs. Cobb was preceded in death by her husband, Ty R. Cobb on October 31, 1977; two daughters: Marietha Cobb and Neda Mooneyham; three sons: William "Slats" Ernest, Ty DeWayne and Lewis Cobb.

She is survived by one son and three daughters-in-law: Roy Gene and Carol Cobb of Horatio, Susie Cobb of Horatio and Sharon Cobb of Austin, Texas; three sisters: Laverne Aubry of Dickerson, Texas, Noveline Owens of Andrew, Texas and Estalee Kinkade of Baylor, Texas; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Cobb were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 30, 2003 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Cy Davis, minister officiating. Burial followed in the Millwee cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Margaret Adel Brandt

Margaret Adel Nelson Brandt, age 54, resident of Ft. Morgan, Colo., died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003 at Magnolia.

Funeral services are pending and will be held by Jaffey Funeral Home in Ft. Morgan, Colo.

She was born Feb. 24, 1948 at De Queen to Dewey H. and Nina Norine Luster Nelson. She was predeceased by her husband; and father.

She is survived by one son, Richard and one daughter, Melany, both of Denver, Colo.; her mother, Norine Nelson of Ft. Morgan, Colo.; two sisters, Marilyn McCoy of Greeley, Colo., and Denise Christenson of Taylor; one brother, Jerry Nelson of Ukiah, Calif.; four grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was the niece of Naydean Pogue of De Queen.

Bernice Murl Johnson

Mrs. Bernice Murl Dickson Johnson, age 85, resident of DeSota, Tex., died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003 at her home.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3 in Horatio cemetery with Rev. Sonny Conatser, Rev. James Royce and Rev. J.L. Walker officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.

She was born Aug. 21, 1917 in West Otis to James Oren and Delsie Harris Dickson; was a seamstress; a homemaker; and attended the Church of the Rock at Rockwall, Tex. She was predeceased by her husband, Magnus Johnson, in 1977.

She is survived by three daughters, Emily Hodges of Ferris, Tex., Jean Irvan of Mountainburg, and Sue Daniel of DeSota, Tex.; one sister, Faye Souza of California; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grand-children; three great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will be at the home of Linda Irvan Patrick in Horatio.

Lou Ann Martin

Mrs. Lou Ann Martin, age 68, resident of Lockesburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003 at her home.

Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.

She was born June 21, 1934 in Texarkana, Tex.; and was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, William Charles Martin Jr. of Lockesburg.

Evelyn Marie Hill

Mrs. Evelyn Marie Dinger Hill, age 58, a resident of De Queen, died Thursday, April 3, 2003 at Wadley Regional Medical Center.

She was born April 19, 1944 in De Queen to the late Jessie and Eula Dinger. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy Deer, and one brother, Frank Dinger.

She is survived by her husband, Walter (Jack) Hill of De Queen; one son: Jason Hill of De Queen; two daughters: Jackie Hill of De Queen, Cheryl Smith and her husband, Jay, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; three granddaughters: Rylie, Laney and Kaylee; one grandson: Logan; three brothers: Bobby Dinger and wife, Linda of De Queen, Jackie Dinger and wife, Edna of De Queen, and Bill Dinger of Lockesburg; three sisters: Jean Nickerson and husband, David of Horatio, Helen McGalliard and husband, Donnie of Okalona, and Marty Munoz and husband, Javier of Horatio; her mother-in-law: Doris Olson of De Queen; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial services for Mrs. Hill were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 6, 2003 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Curtis officiating.
