Johnny Margie Madewell Payne
Mrs. Johnny Margie Madewell Payne, age 76, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas died on Friday, January 13, 2017, in Texarkana, Texas.
She was born on August 15, 1940 in Horatio. She was a seamstress, cook, and a Baptist.
Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by her parents, John Elmer and Wessie Mooneyham Madewell; three brothers, Robbie, Bobbie, and James Oscar Madewell; and one sister, Viola Madewell.
She is survived by her husband, Dayne Payne of Horatio; one sister, Francis Willis of De Queen, Arkansas; one brother, Cecil Madewell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dwight and Lee Etta Payne of Lockesburg, Arkansas and Darrell and Sharon Payne of Gillham, Arkansas; one sister-in -law and brother-in-law, Margaret and Edward Knighten of Foreman, Arkansas; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Cheryl Lowrey.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Payne will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 16, 2017 at the Old Center Cemetery with Wesley Blankenship officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday, January 15th at the funeral home.
Mr. Victor Romero
Mr. Victor Peralta Romero, age 64, a resident of Horatio, died Friday, January 13, 2017 at his home.
He was born to Candelario Romero and Carmen Peralta in San Felipe, GTO, Mexico, on July 7, 1952. He was a heavy equipment operator, and a member of St. Barbara’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed working, and cherished the time spent with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Angel, Victoriano, and Martina Romero.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Luna de Romero of Horatio, three sons, Thomas Romero, Saul Romero, and Victor Romero, Jr. all of Horatio, a daughter, Miriam Luna Machucho of Horatio, a granddaughter, Natalie Machucho of Horatio, one brother; Panfilo Romero of McKinney, Texas, and three sister, Justina Romero of Mexico, and Martina Romero of Verona, Missouri, and Julia Romero of San Francisco, California, and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 10:00 A.M., in St Barbara’s Catholic Church. Rosary and visitation will be at 4:00 P.M., Sunday, January 15, 2017 until Service time at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church.
Lonnie Hue Cooper
Lonnie Hue Cooper, age 78, of Shinewell passed to his heavenly home at 3:24 am on Friday, January 13th, 2017 after a long battle with cancer.
Lonnie was at his Shinewell residence surrounded by his loving family.
Lonnie was a devoted member of State Line Baptist Church in Cerro Gordo.
Lonnie was born on August 31, 1938 in Cerro Gordo, OK.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ezekiel Canton Cooper and Melissa Myra Williams Cooper, two sisters Lottie Cooper and Lorene Cooper Davis, two brothers Louis Elmer Cooper and Don Ezekiel Cooper, son James David Cooper, grandson David Lee Cooper and granddaughter Donna K. Cooper.
Lonnie is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years Virginia Daniel Cooper, four daughters Lonna Frady and her husband Terry, Connie McDonald and her husband Mike, Myra Sout and her husband Jim and Leona Knight and her husband Jim, son Charles Wayne Cooper and his wife Tracy, sister Leona Grinage, ten grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and a host of loving nieces and nephews, friends and church family. Lonnie worked in timber most of his life. He later became a diesel mechanic. He was very talented, truly enjoyed music and played multiple instruments, working in his garden, being with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and serving his church family.
Visitation will be on Saturday, January 14th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 15th, at State Line Baptist Church in Cerro Gordo. The Reverend Ray Brown and Brother Don Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Cerro Gordo Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Donnie Rich, Brad Kendrick, Clayton Tinkes, Wayne Kendrick, Jerry Lynn Tucker and Robert Kizer.
Mr. Leslie W. Killian
Mr. Leslie W. Killian, age 98, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died on Thursday, January, 12, 2017, in Dierks.
Mr. Killian was born September 6, 1918, in Howard County, Arkansas. He was a poultry and cattle farmer, a deacon and member of Bethany Baptist Church and a World War II Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kias and Carrie Bell Martin Killian and his wife, Zelmaree Harberson Killian.
Mr. Killian is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Melba Killian of Texarkana, Arkansas; one grandson, Steve Killian and wife Jennifer of Daingerfield, Texas; one granddaughter, Stephanie Francis and husband Mitch of Texarkana, Texas; one sister, Bonnie Burt of De Queen; three brothers, Arvil Shepherd of Prattville, Alabama, Farrel Shepherd of Dierks and Bobby Shepherd of De Queen; eight great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; one uncle, Herbert Killian of Nashville, Arkansas one sister-in-law, Velmaree Harberson of Dierks, Arkansas and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Killian will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Sunshine Cemetery with Rev. J.W. Gilbert officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Mrs. Mary Brazeal
Mrs. Mary Evelyn Perkins Brazeal, age 84, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at her home.
She was born to Ben and Lorna Dune Mitchell Perkins of Koshkonong, Missouri, on July 10, 1932. She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, making jellies and her flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, James Perkins and Ruth Cantrell, and in 2006, her husband of over 57 years, Norman Franklin Brazeal.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Patsy Brazeal of De Queen, a daughter, Joetta Jones of De Queen, a brother Robert Perkins of Koshkonong, Missouri and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services for Mrs. Mary Brazeal will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 14th in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with Bobby Walker and Ricky Hughes officiating under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
Mr. George Tucker
Mr. George Ray Tucker, age 79, a resident of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at his home.
He was born to George Lee and Rebecca Frances Hornbeck Tucker in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, on January 18, 1937. He was retired from Cossatot Community College University of Arkansas, where he supervised maintenance. He enjoyed working on automobiles, and yard work.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Steven Joseph Tucker.
He is survived by a special friend, Marjorie “Margie” Kerst of De Queen, a son, George R. Tucker, Jr. of San Diego, California, a daughter, Elizabeth R. Tucker of La Mesa, California, and a sister, Barbara Ann Miller, and eight grandchildren.
Graveside funeral Services for Mr. George Tucker will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 12th in Redmen Cemetery, De Queen, Arkansas, with Rev. Mark Cloninger officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
Mrs. Johnnie Miller
Mrs. Johnnie Dean Johnson Miller, age 69, a resident of Texarkana, Arkansas, died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at her home.
She was born to J. D. and Angis Mefford Johnson in Dustin, Oklahoma, on June 30, 1947. She was a nail tech, as well as a homemaker. She was an active member the Highland Park Baptist Church, where she cooked on Wednesday evening. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, and cherished the time spent with family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother.
She is survived by her husband, Rodger Miller of Texarkana, a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Holly Gamble of Texarkana, Texas, two daughters, April and David Jones and Betty and Kevin Hayes both of Texarkana, Arkansas. Eight grandchildren, Lindsay Gamble, Desteni Ogden, Mackenzie Gamble, Isabella Gamble, Cody Jones, Jessie Gamble, Camden Gamble, and Riley Gamble, three great-grandchildren, Amiyah Hawkins, Hadleigh Ogden, and Everly Parker. She is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Bessie and Earl Heinonen of Kansas City, Missouri, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Johnnie Miller will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 11th in the Highland Park Baptist Church, 2401 Hazel Street, Texarkana, Texas with Rev. Kevin Myers officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M., until service time. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 11th in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, De Queen, Arkansas, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
