Mrs. Ruth Jones Carden
Mrs. Ruth Jones Carden, age 88, a resident of Haworth, Oklahoma, and former resident of Foreman, Arkansas, died Thursday, November 3, 2016 at her home.
She was born to Tommy and Elizabeth Fleet Jones in Memphis, Tennessee, on August 17, 1928. She was retired owner of Ms. Ruth’s Flowers, and was active in the Foster Grandparent Program in the Winthrop and Foreman Schools. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Crossroads, Arkansas, and enjoyed traveling, flower arrangements, cooking, and cherished the time spent with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Samuel E. Carden, a son, David Carden, a daughter, Martha Grooms, a grandchild, Lori, and her siblings, Frances Paluman, and Jewel Jones.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ollie and Peggy Carden of Idabel, Oklahoma, a daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Larry Nichols of Haworth, Oklahoma, a son, Virgil and his wife, Edie Carden of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, twenty-two grandchildren, Jamie and his wife, Susie Nichols of Kountze, Texas, Chicohota Carden, Mary Carden, and Shane Carden all of Idabel, Oklahoma, Kevin and his wife, Sherry Carden of Winthrop, Arkansas, Catherine and her husband, Jack Waller of Orange, Texas, David Lynn, Jr. and his wife, Tammy Carden of Forrest City, Arkansas, Tina Matthews of Destin, Florida, Celena Malo of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Rodney Lee Starwalt of De Queen, Shawn Farley of Valliant, Oklahoma, Shane Farley of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and Shandon Farley of Idabel, Oklahoma, nineteen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Thomas Jones of Marianna, Arkansas, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Don Treadwell of West Helena, Arkansas, and Gladys and Clyde Newsom of Paducah, Kentucky, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Ruth Carden will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, November 6th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Barry Brown and Bro. Gary Steiner officiating. Burial will follow in the Pauley Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, November 5th from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Chandler Funeral Home.
Mr. Tobe William Boles
Mr. Tobe William Boles, age 56, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Tuesday, November 1st in the De Queen Medical Center.
He was born to Aubrey and Ella Faye Perry Boles in Houston, Texas, on August 30, 1960. He was a truck driver, and enjoyed fishing, carpentry, and handyman work.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Aubrey Lee Boles, Nancy Louise Easlon, Nelda Lavon Tullous, Janice Fay Sellers, and Rosemary Ray.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Savannah and Jeff Olson of Rockport, Texas, and Nichole and Ernest Naranjo of Yorktown, Texas, a son and daughter-in-law, John and Rosanne Steen of Victoria, Texas, a brother, Nolan Boles of De Queen, and a sister and brother-in-law, Frances Darlene and Ronaldo Salinas of De Queen, a special friend, Patsy Cockrum of De Queen, eight grandchildren, Madison Olson and Hannah Olson both of Rockport, Texas, Kendalyn Naranjo, Kamden Naranjo, Kenzie Naranjo all of Yorktown, Texas, Cameron Steen, Mariah Steen, and Rhae Rhae Steen all of Victoria, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Tobe Boles will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 4th in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
Mr. Kern Pat Gore
Mr. Kern Pat Gore, age 82, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Friday, October 28, 2016, in Texarkana, Texas.
He was born August 8, 1934 in Overton, Texas. He was an instrument electrician for Nekossa/Georgia Pacific and a United States Air Force Veteran. He attended Williamson Community Church.
Mr. Gore was preceded in death by his parents, Gomer and Velma Gore; three brothers, Olaf, Wayne and Doyle Gore; two sisters, Jackie Berger and Barbara Halphen.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Shirley Ann Gore of Horatio; three sons and daughters-in-law, Clifford Pat and Joyce M. Gore, Douglas Kern and Lalisa Griffin Gore, and Curtis Allen and Robin Gore; ten grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the Williamson Community Church in Horatio. A casual lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. at the Williamson Church.

Melissa Ruthellen Tollett
Melissa Ruthellen Tollett, age 60, a resident of De Queen, died Friday, October 28, 2016, in De Queen Medical Center.
She was born May 4, 1956, in De Queen. She was a homemaker and member of the First Assembly of God Church in De Queen.
Ms. Tollett was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Delsie Waits Tollett and three brothers, Harley Glenn Tollett, Troy Scott Tollett and Johnny Paul Tollett.
She is survived by one daughter, Raven Tollett; one son, Seth Tollett; two sisters, Dawn Tollett and Tracy Tollett Riley all of De Queen; one brother, Dr. Malcom Tollett of Destin, Florida; three grandchildren, Keaton Tollett, Julian Harris and Meadow Harris and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Ms. Tollett will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 3, 2016, in the Chapel Hill Cemetery with Ray Reynolds, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Mrs. Bertha Oma Axton James
Mrs. Bertha Oma Axton James, age 102, a resident of North Richland Hills, Texas, died Thursday, October 27, 2016, in Bedford, Texas.
She was born June 14, 1914, in Howard County. She was a retired LPN, a homemaker and member of the Assembly of God Church.
Mrs. James was preceded in death by her parents, John and Betty Potts Axton; her husband, Cleo James; one daughter, Patsy V. James; two brothers, Lecil Axton and Cecil Axton; one sister, Edna Axton and one niece, Judy Gillespie.
She is survived by two nephews, Harold Axton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Carroll Axton of Austin, Texas; two nieces, Melba Killian of Texarkana, Arkansas and Alma Frachiseur of Dierks, Arkansas.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. James will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 31, 2016, in the Dierks Cemetery with Kevin Herrington officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Patsy Vernell James
Patsy Vernell James, age 78, a resident of North Richland Hills, Texas, died Wednesday, October 26, 2016 in Bedford, Texas.
She was born February 23, 1938 in Dierks. She was a graduate of the University of Arkansas, a retired teacher at Tarrant County College, a member of the Assembly of God Church and an avid Razorback fan.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cleo James and special aunt, Edna Axton. Her mother, Bertha Oma Axton James, died on October 27, 2016.
She is survived by several cousins and her beloved pets, Kalleecy and Tippy.
Graveside funeral services for Miss Patsy James will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 31, 2016, in the Dierks Cemetery with Kevin Herrington officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Alva A. DeMarais
Alva A. DeMarais, 90, of Bella Vista, AR died October 23, 2016. She was born February 16, 1926 in Gillham, AR to Samuel H. and Claudia Byers Capps.
Mrs. DeMarais was a graduate of East Texas State University (now Texas A & M), Texarkana, TX. She worked many years in government and related jobs, retiring from her professional life at the age of 72 years. Her government service in Washington D.C. was recognized with several congressional awards. Her personal hobbies have included bridge playing, quilting, and gardening.
Survivors include her husband, Robert P. DeMarais of Bella Vista; one son, Benjamin W. Williams and his wife Trude, of California; one grandson, Mark Williams and wife Diana; two granddaughters, Heather King and husband Andrew; and Stephanie Sanchez, all of California and five great-grandchildren. Her immediate family survivors also include one brother, Jimmy Capps and wife Margaret of Arkansas and her sister Dorothy Phillips, of Texas.
No public services will be held at the request of the deceased.
