Dr. Eugene Allen "Gene" Joseph

Dr. Eugene Allen "Gene" Joseph of Searcy passed away peacefully an April 11, 2016 at home with his wife by his side.

He was born February 28, 1935 in Helena, Arkansas to Hassan and Mary Joseph. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in Helena. He attended the University of Arkansas and graduated from the University of Arkansas Medical School in 1961. He practiced family medicine in De Queen, Arkansas for 12 years before moving to Searcy, Arkansas in 1975 where he started the Joseph Clinic. He retired from the practice of medicine in 2010. He was a member of the AMA and the White County Medical Society. He also served as Chief of Staff at Central Arkansas Hospital, as well as medical director for Leisure Lodge and Byrd Haven. He was involved as a past board member of Searcy Public School System. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church and the Pairs and Spares Sunday school class. Gene became an avid golfer, which he enjoyed with his kids and grandkids as well as a very special group of friends. He also enjoyed his time on the lake, whether he was teaching all the kids how to ski with amazing patience or racing to snag that illusive big fish! He always looked forward to the annual fishing trip with his buddies. Gene was a one of a kind physician. Not only was he knowledgeable, but just talking with him made you feel better because he understood his patient. His compassion and caring were beyond compare. It was obvious he loved his profession and people.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary "Snookie" Joseph; sister, Helen Habib of Dunkirk, Maryland; sons, Steve Joseph of Fayetteville, Bill Joseph and wife Dawn of Conway, Tim Joseph of Maumelle; daughter, Terri Langford and husband Tim of Little Rock; ten grandchildren, Nick and Brooks (Michelle) Joseph, Kylie and Courtney Joseph, Aaron, Brian and Caitlynn Langford, Hannah, Logan and Collin Joseph and great-grandson, Westin Joseph. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Louise Joseph, and brother Dr. Raymond Joseph. The family would like to thank Dr. David Jones and Dr. Greg Barden, and the staff of Providence and Providence Companion Care for the loving care he and our mom received during this time. We would like to extend a deep and heartfelt appreciation to Logan Cothern. As it says in Proverbs 27:17,"Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another."

The family has requested that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, Searcy or the American Heart Association.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Powell Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be Friday at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church in Searcy.

Mr. Bobby Abe Mills

Mr. Bobby Abe Mills, age 70, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas, died Sunday, April 10, 2016 at his home.

He was born January 24, 1946, in De Queen, Arkansas. He was a retired truck driver, a former employee of Weyerhaeuser and a U.S. Navy veteran. He loved to hunt and fish and spending time with family and friends.

Mr. Mills was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard J. and Stella Marie Dunagun Mills; three brothers, Charles, Edward and Len Mills; his uncle and aunt, A.J. and Ethel Mills and one sister-in-law, Wilma Mills.

He is survived by one son, Troy David Mills of De Queen; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Eugene and Joanne Mills of Oregon, James and Glenda Mills and Larry and Karen Mills all of De Queen; his ex-wife, Patricia Mills also of De Queen; a special friend, Kathy Albus of Gillham and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services with military rites will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2016, in the Oak Grove Cemetery with Micah Martin officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Mr. Johnny Wayne Davis

Mr. Johnny Wayne Davis, age 67, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Friday, April 8, 2016, at his home.

He was born to John L. and Doris Marie Moore Davis in De Queen, Arkansas on January 29, 1949. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired millwright of 40 years at Weyerhaeuser in Dierks. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Ann Jackson Davis in May 1987; his sister, Joyce Marie Davis Lott in February 2002, his father in April 2003 and his mother in August 2004.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Cindy Taylor Davis of Dierks; four sons and daughter-in-law, John Bradley Davis, Christopher Edward Davis, Kyle Wayne and Kourtney Davis and Coby Lewis Davis; two daughters and son-in-law, Teresa Ann and Jimmy Davis and Carli Michelle Davis all of Dierks; two grandsons, Jonathan Blake Davis of Dierks and Remington Wayne Davis of Lockesburg; three granddaughters, Lindsey Ann Dorsey of Dierks, Brynlei Mychelle Davis of Ashdown, and A’Kayla DaShae Carterby of Broken Bow, OK and one great-grandson, Dextin Lane Kemp of Dierks.

Graveside funeral services with military rites for Mr. Johnny Wayne Davis will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2016, in the Dierks Cemetery with Bro. Duane Alspaw officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, April 11th at the funeral home in Dierks.

Mrs. Ruby Etta Jester Krantz

Mrs. Ruby Etta Jester Krantz, age 88, a longtime resident of Dierks, Arkansas died Sunday, April 10, 2016 in Dierks Health and Rehab.
She was born October 3, 1927, in Dierks. She was retired from Weyerhaeuser and a member of the First Baptist Church in Dierks. She liked to crochet, craft and do word search puzzles.

Mrs. Krantz was preceded in death by her parents, Curt and Bertie Johnson Jester; her husband, John D. Krantz and one brother, William “Bunny” Jester.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jimmy Krantz and Robert and Brenda Krantz; two daughters and a son-in-law, Susy Callaway and Wanda and David Heifner all of Dierks; one sister, Betty Gynell Lacefield of De Queen; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Krantz will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2016, in the Dierks Cemetery with Jerry Jester and David Blasé officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, April 11, 2016, at the funeral home in De Queen.

The family will be at the home of Wanda and David Heifner, 208 W. 2nd Street in Dierks.

Benny Allen Collins

Benny Allen Collins, age 67, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas, passed from this life, Tuesday, March 29th, at a hospital in Fort Smith. He was born to Dan and Flossie Gilchrist Collins in Checotah, Oklahoma, on January 18, 1949. He was a retired heavy equipment operator.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Connie Richey, and one brother-in-law, James Watkins.

He is survived by three sons, Benny Collins of Las Vegas, Nevada, David Collins of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Russell Weaver of Gillham, Arkansas, two daughters, Donna Weaver of Oregon City, Oregon and Michal Kelly of Orange County, California; eight grandchildren; one sister, Carol Watkins of Gillham, Arkansas, one brother-in-law, Harold Richey of Yorba Linda, California; a number of nieces, nephews, other family members, and a host of special friends.

A private memorial service will be held. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, Arkansas.

John Robert Bowman

John Robert Bowman, 81, of Ashdown, AR went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday April 6, 2016 at Wadley Hospital in Texarkana, TX.

John Robert was born May 16, 1934 in Alleene, AR to John Lee and Minnie Pierce Bowman. He was a retired construction business owner and enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He was a Christian and a member of Central Baptist Church in Ashdown, AR. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Eva Jane Bowman of Ashdown, AR; two daughters and sons-in-law, Renita and John Dossett of Ashdown, AR, Jeannine and Larry Critchlow of Wallace, AR; three grandchildren, Tara McElroy, Tyler Lisenby, John Roland Critchlow; one great grandchild, Zoey Grace McElroy; one nephew; six nieces; and a multitude of friends and other relatives.

Visitation will be Friday April 8, 2016 from 6 :00 pm to 8:00 pm at Madden Funeral Home in Ashdown, AR.

Funeral Services will be Saturday April 9, 2016 at 11:00 am at Madden Funeral Home in Ashdown, AR with Pastor Mike Mize and Bishop Ricky Bowman officiating. Burial will follow at Oakhill Cemetery in Ashdown, AR under the direction of Madden Funeral Home. Donations may be made to Oak Hill Cemetery, American Heart Association, or the Cancer Institute.

Wilmer Jello

Wilmer Jello, age 55, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at his home.

He was born December 19, 1960 in the Marshall Islands.

Mr. Jello was preceded in death by his mother, Neilan Manna.

He is survived by his wife, Santha Langidrik; one son, Kamal Jello; three daughters, Neija Jello, Helen Jello and Ruiakanu Jello all of De Queen and his father, Masa Jello of Springdale, Arkansas.

Funeral services for Wilmer Jello will be held at 9:00 a.m., Friday, April 8, 2016 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 9th in the Redmen Cemetery in De Queen.
