Mrs. Mary Susan Gallagher Blair

Mrs. Mary Susan Gallagher Blair, age 53, a resident of Ashdown, Arkansas, died Saturday, April 2, 2016 in Ashdown.

She was born November 23, 1962 in De Queen, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Jesus Worship Center in Ashdown.

Mrs. Blair was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Ethel Marie Knighten Gallagher; and a son, Dustin Blair.
She is survived by her husband, Gene Blair of Ashdown; one daughter, Regina Harper of Texarkana, Arkansas; one son, Brandon Blair of Ashdown; one sister, Janie Campbell of Hooks, Texas; two step-sisters, Sandra Nunn of Massachusetts and Pat Roberts of Houston, Texas; one brother, Fred Gallagher of Forrest City, Arkansas; four grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial services for Mrs. Blair will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016, in the Jesus Worship Center in Ashdown with Rev. Bobby Harder officiating.

Mr. Tony Wayne Kendrick

Mr. Tony Wayne Kendrick, age 77, a resident of Cerro Gordo, Arkansas, died Sunday, April 3, 2016 in Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas.
He was born December 31, 1938 in Cerro Gordo, Arkansas. He was a retired truck driver, a rancher, member of the State Line Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Kendrick enjoyed working on the place and his grandchildren.

Mr. Kendrick was preceded in death by his parents, E.E. and Allie Aikman Kendrick and four brothers, Bill Joe Kendrick, James Harold Kendrick, Gene Lee Kendrick and Gilbert Marshall Kendrick.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Liverett Kendrick; one daughter and son-in-law, Toni Lynn and Johnny Marshall of Horatio; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Brad Kendrick of Broken Bow, Oklahoma and Wayne and Tracy Kendrick of Cerro Gordo, Arkansas; one brother and sister-in-law, Aikman and Nona Ruth Kendrick of Cerro Gordo, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Allie and Wyatt Marshall of Horatio, Emmaleigh Kendrick of Broken Bow and Evan Kendrick of Cerro Gordo and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Tony Kendrick will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2016, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Cerro Gordo Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, April 4th at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lita Michelle Hudson Baxter

Mrs. Lita Michelle Hudson Baxter, age 60, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas, died Friday, April 1, 2016, in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
She was born October 11, 1955 in Talihina, Oklahoma. She was a retired supervisor at Tyson Foods for 33 years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gillham.

Mrs. Baxter was preceded in death by her parents; Dixon and Sarah Amos Hudson; one son, Michael “Stick” Brady; one brother, Von Hudson and one sister, Corinne Hudson.

She is survived by her husband, Sammy Baxter; one son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Deadre Brady of Wickes; six brothers and four sisters-in-law, E.B. Hudson of Jacksonville, Florida, Thurman and Peggy Hudson of Pocola, Oklahoma, Dean Hudson of Ignacio, Colorado, Cordell and Vera Hudson of Fredericks, Oklahoma, Greg and Anna Hudson of Henrietta, Oklahoma and R.E. Hudson of Smithville, Oklahoma; four sisters, Megadlene Scott of Smithville, Oklahoma, Verdella Hudson of Rogers, Arkansas, Kathleen Hudson of Smithville, Oklahoma and Loretta Tadlock of Grannis, Arkansas; three grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Baxter will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2016, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Bobby Tatum officiating. Burial will follow in the Smithville Cemetery in Smithville, Oklahoma.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, April 4th at the funeral home.

Donnie Ray Walker

Mr. Donnie Ray Walker, age 69, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Friday, April 1, 2016, in De Queen Medical Center.

He was born October 18, 1946 in Muse, Oklahoma. He was a retired USDA inspector and attended the Williamson Community Church.

Donnie Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. J.L. and Thelma Simmons Walker and one brother, Rufus Walker.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Tallman Walker; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark Walker and Brian and Elizabeth Walker; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ronnie and Donna Walker and Rickie Walker all of Horatio; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Tim Brotherton of De Queen and Judy and Jim Wilson of Rayne, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Emily, Kara and Jack Walker and Reese and Rhett Walker, two great-grandchildren, Addy and Reid and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Donnie Ray Walker will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 4, 2016, in the Williamson Community Church with Rev. Jimmy Roden officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday, April 3rd at the funeral home.

Bill Bryan

Mr. Bill Bryan, age 91, a resident of Winthrop, Arkansas, died Friday, April 1, 2016, at his home.

He was born August 9, 1924, in Gore, Oklahoma. He was retired from wholesale grocery sales, was a member of the Crossroads Southern Baptist Church and a Mason.

Mr. Bryan was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Bryan, his parents, Shelvy V. and Etta Bryan and one grandson, Michael.

He is survived by his wife, Veta Morgan Bryan; one son, Billy Bryan and friend Barbara Meadows of De Queen; two daughters and sons-in-law, Audra and Tim McGaha of Mansfield, Texas and Annette and Todd Butler of Bodcaw, Arkansas; one sister, Lola Montgomery of Dierks; one granddaughter, Kathryn Griffin of Mansfield, Texas and two great-grandchildren, Micah and Alex.

Funeral services for Mr. Bryan will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 4, 2016, in the Crossroads Southern Baptist Church with Roy Conatser and Audie Dawson officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Funeral services for Pat will be held at 2:00P.M. Friday, October 9th in the Athens Holiness Church with burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery with Bro. Olin Vaughn, Bro. Bill Weeks and Bro. Bob Weeks officiating under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, AR. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 8th from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Chandler Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nadine “Deanie” Jones Higgins

Mrs. Nadine “Deanie” Jones Higgins, age 70, a resident of Jefferson, Texas, died Friday, March 20, 2015 in Jefferson, Texas.

She was born to Paul and Cynthia Young Jones in Stilwell, Oklahoma on August 17, 1944. She was a homemaker and a talented seamstress. She was a member of the Rose and Garden Club, Cheerleader for her children and grandchildren, active school volunteer for children and grandchildren, and member and deacon’s wife of the North Shore Baptist Church of Mims, Texas. She was very active in the ladies group and loved teaching Sunday School to children.

Mrs. Higgins was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents, two brothers, Earl Lee and LeRoy Jones, a brother-in-law, Russell Higgins, her sisters-in-law, Jean Smith, Gladys Tabor, and Mae Hearn, and two daughters, Belinda Kay Goins, and Rita Higgins Benefield.

She is survived by her husband of over 53 years, Bobby Higgins of Jefferson, Texas, two daughters and sons-in-law, Lissa Higgins and Jay Horan, Sr. of Marshall, Texas, De Anna “Jeanie” and Kenneth House of Jefferson, Texas, two sons-in-law, Johnnie Goins, and wife, Martha of Paris, Texas, and Christopher Benefield of Avinger, Texas, her step-mother, Orene Jones of De Queen, Arkansas, three brothers and sisters-in-law, Murl and Lorrie Jones of Ogden, Arkansas, Matt and Julie Jones of Rufe, Oklahoma, and Anthony and Merrilee Jones of De Queen, Arkansas, nine sisters and brothers-in-law, Georgia Martin of Stilwell, Oklahoma, Wanda and Tim Fagan of Mena, Arkansas, and Sue and Donnie Ashcraft of Hodge, Louisiana, Aleta and Doyne Turner of Grannis, Arkansas, Malenta and Steve Bruce, Carolyn and Valentin Garcia, and Kayla and Cesar Alonso all of De Queen, Arkansas, Christy and Dusty Yardly of Kingsland, Arkansas, and Elena and Ramon Martinez of Kensett, Arkansas, four grandchildren, Beau Goins of Paris, Texas, Steven Lemoine and Brandi Casey of Dallas, Texas, Hunter Higgins of Marshall, Texas, and Lane House of Jefferson, Texas, her extended grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Taylor and Ryan Coco, children, Macayla and Easton of Marshall, Texas, Lynsey and Lucas Hagan, children, Sabrina, Preston, Kaleb, and Kayann of Karnack, Texas, Stephanie and Michael Bloodworth, children, Logan, and Lillie Marshall, Texas, and Jay Horan, Jr. of Kilgore, Texas. She is also survived by her husband’s family, five brothers-in-law and their spouses, Calvin and Patsy Hearn, Freeman and Jean Higgins, Jimmy and Linda Higgins all of De Queen, Arkansas, Billy and Sandy Higgins of Gillham, Arkansas, and Al Tabor of Pottsboro, Texas, four sisters-in-law, Reba Higgins, and Arlene Jones of De Queen, Arkansas, and Belva Nipper of Lockesburg, Arkansas, and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Nadine “Deanie” Higgins will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 24, 2015 in the North Shore Baptist Church, Mims, Texas, with Rev. Dennis Walley officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 P.M., in the Millcreek Cemetery, Gillham, Arkansas with Rev. E. L. Sharp officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, Arkansas. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 23rd in the North Shore Baptist Church, 120 Woodland Shores Drive, Avinger, Texas, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Melanie Kay Schoch Simmons

Melanie Kay Schoch Simmons, age 66, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Thursday, March 19, 2015 in De Queen Medical Center.

She was born October 18, 1948 in Woodbury, New Jersey. She was a homemaker, retired from the Corps of Engineers and a member of McHorse Missionary Baptist Church.

Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her parents, David Eugene and Marie Harris Elwell Schoch.

She is survived by her husband, Benny Simmons; one daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Brian Carver of Lockesburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Missy Simmons of De Queen; three sisters, Audrey Goocher of Midlothian, Texas, Nita Guttery of Dallas, Texas and Debbie Myers of Grand Prairie, Texas; one brother, David Schoch of Bridgeton, New Jersey; seven grandchildren, Desiree Collum, Tristan Chapman, Zayne Chapman, Kimmi Simmons, Kalee Simmons, Taylor Carver and Miranda Carver; two great-grandchildren, Kevin Walker and Drayk Carver and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Simmons will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 23, 2015 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Jones officiating. Burial will follow in McHorse Cemetery in Lockesburg.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 22nd at the funeral home.
