Mrs. Sadie Mae Tugman

Mrs. Sadie Mae Tugman, age 82, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas, died Wednesday, February 11, 2015 in De Queen Medical Center.

She was born August 4, 1932 in Stedman, North Carolina. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Tugman was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Martha Bunell Faircloth; two sons, Victor Tugman and Mark Tugman; three brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Tugman of Gillham; three daughters, Cathy Billingsley of Gillham, Sheila Heath and Renee Gaither both of Mena, Arkansas; two sons, Forrest Tugman and Larry Tugman both of Gillham; two brothers, John David Faircloth of De Queen, Arkansas and Dallas Faircloth of North Carolina; two sisters, Phyllis Johnson of North Carolina and Jean Booth of Florida; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, February 15, 2015, in the Gillham Cemetery.

The family will be at the Tugman Home, 291 King Road in Gillham.

Cremation arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Johnnie Cox

Mrs. Ina Johnnie Maddox Harp Whisnant Cox, age 94 years, 11 months, and 20 days, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Tuesday, February 10th at the home of her daughter in Horatio, Arkansas.

She was born on February 21, 1920 in Tuscalusa, Alabama to Marion Demps and Dessie Weldon Maddox. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of De Queen , a 57+ year member of the Eastern Star, a 30 year member of the Hospital Auxiliary, where she was past president and secretary-treasurer. She was also a member of the AARP #2178, Farm Bureau, the Gillham EHC, and Woodman of the World. She enjoyed bowling on the Wee, reading, computers, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Vernon Willie Harp, Lloyd Whisnant, and Milton F. Cox, her parents, and her siblings, Bryant Maddox, Alvis Maddox, Clifton Maddox, Jesse Maddox, Joe Maddox, Jack Maddox, Mattie Barnes, and Maudie Simmons.

She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Mervyn Don and Doris Harp of Graham, Texas, Gary Vernon and Mary Harp of Greenville, Texas, Dale Lloyd Whisnant of Hector, Arkansas, and Kent Jordan and Corine Whisnant of Durango, CO., three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Louise and Ronnie Reid of Granbury, Texas, Lillie Rosemary and Fred Ford of Weatherford, Texas, and Wanda Joy and Vernon Gore of Horatio, Arkansas, one sister, Ruby Grace Ingram of Salinas, Calif. 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Johnnie Cox will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, February 12th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Smith and Bro. Josh Herweck officiating. Burial will follow in the Gillham Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 11th from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the to the De Queen Hospital Auxiliary, 1306 Collin Raye Drive, De Queen, Arkansas.

Mr. Franklin Del Litchford

Mr. Franklin Del Litchford, age 73, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Sunday, February 8, 2015 in the Wadley Regional Medical Center, Texarkana, Texas.

He was born to Joel Radford and Ethel Loretta Land Litchford in De Queen, Arkansas, on September 11, 1941. He was a retired truck driver, having his own truck. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Horatio, and enjoyed trucks, deer hunting, fishing, and the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, James Litchford, and Joe Litchford, and a great-grandson, Layne Frachiseur.

He is survived by his wife of over 54 years, Fredia Chandler Litchford of Horatio, a daughter, and son-in-law, LaFonda and Jack McCoy of Horatio, three granddaughters and their spouses, Casey and Todd Morris of Nashville, Jennifer and Emmett Ray of Horatio, and Laura and Dustin Frachiseur of Lockesburg, four great-grandchildren, Macy, Emma, Avery, and Kirsti, three brothers and sisters-in-law, Wesley and Aquilla Litchford of De Queen, Earl Litchford of Horatio, and Chester and Pat Litchford of Little Rock, Arkansas, two sisters-in-law, Wanda Litchford of Mineral Springs, Arkansas, and Mary Litchford of Horatio, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Del Litchford will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 11, 2015, in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Gutierres and Bro. Ralph Staggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Center Cemetery, Horatio, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Mrs. Patricia Ann Briant

Mrs. Patricia Ann Briant, age 90, a resident of De Queen, died Saturday, February 7, 2015, in the De Queen Medical Center, De Queen.

She was born to C. R and Anna Kelly Tanner in Denton, Texas on November 28, 1924. She was a Christian, and a former employee of the Sevier County Museum. She enjoyed puzzles, bowling, and loved the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Jackie Tanner, a son-in-law, William Clayton Fettes, and her husband, Guy Briant.

She is survived by a daughter, Victoria Diane Fettes, Albuquerque, New Mexico, a son and daughter-in-law, Paul R. and Joyce Briant of De Queen, three grandchildren and their spouses, Trish and Ray Keister of De Queen, Allen and Camille Killough of Lumberton, Mississippi, and Kevin Killough of Tioga, North Dakota, three great-grandchildren, Donna Keister and Brett Keister both of De Queen, and Ryan and Jared Killough of Lumberton, Miss, and a number of nieces and nephews

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Patricia Briant will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 9th in the Millwee Cemetery, Horatio, with Bro. Josh Herwick officiating. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Sunday, February 8th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Mr. Henry Clinton Shuffield

Mr. Henry Clinton Shuffield , age 96, a resident of Ben Lomond, Arkansas, died Thursday, February 5th in De Kalb, Texas.

He was born to Austin Hallie Burton and Hattie Lena Yancey Shuffield, on May 27, 1918 in Bismarck, Arkansas. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Army. He was a rancher, and was retired owner of National Livestock Commission Company in Texarkana, and the Hope Livestock Co. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Ben Lomond, Arkansas. He enjoyed working cattle, deer hunting, flea markets, and visiting with family and friends.

Mr. Shuffield was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Clyde Franklin Shuffield, Curtis Merle “Cowboy” Shuffield, and Oather Ray Shuffield.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel Noey Shuffield of Ben Lomond, Arkansas, two step-sons and a daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Maggie Norman of Lockesburg, and Danny Norman of Ben Lomond, Ark., nine grandchildren, Chris Norman, Chad Norman, Tommy Norman, Jeremy Norman, Dewayne Norman, Jenna Norman, Brenna Norman, Hannah Norman, and Kara Norman, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Henry C. Shuffield will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 10th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Jones officiating. Burial with military rites Will follow in the Wofford’s Chapel Cemetery, De Queen, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. Mr. Anthony James “A.J.” Bennett

Mr. Anthony James “A.J.” Bennett, age 26, a resident of Midland, Texas, and former resident of Cove, Arkansas, died Sunday, February 1st from injuries received in an automobile accident.

He was born on July 18, 1988 in Mena, Arkansas. He was working for Midland County Road Department. He enjoyed bowling, sky diving, traveling, card games, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Ariel Adams Bennett of Oklahoma City, Okla., his father and step-mother, Robert D. and Leticia Bennett of Cove, his mother, Kathy Miguez of Crosby, Texas, a brother, Jordan Bennett of Houston, Texas, a step-sister, Diana and her husband, Alexis Herrera of Midland, Texas, four nephews, Luis, Brian, Alexis, and Alan Herrera of Midland, Texas, and a number of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. A. J. Bennett will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, February 8th in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, De Queen. Burial will follow in the Grannis Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

Mr. Robert Mack Gore

Mr. Robert Mack Gore, age 86, a resident of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015, in Arlington Memorial Hospital.

He was born September 8, 1928 in De Queen, Arkansas. As a young man he served in the U.S. Army. He worked in the aircraft industry until retirement from Bell Helicopter in 1988. In the late 50’s he married Billye Faye West and started a family. Of this marriage, two sons were born; Paul Alan and David Wayne. On April 21, 1969 he married Eva Louise Thomas to whom he remained with until her death on September 6, 2002. With this union Robert gained an extended family who loved him as their own.

Mr. Gore was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Hayden and Georgia Leona Gore; his two year old son, David Wayne Gore; his second wife, Louise and one stepson, LaVon Davison.

He is survived by one son, Paul Alan Gore of Grand Prairie, Texas; two granddaughters, Tammy Truelove and husband Ryan and Lisa Davison; one grandson, Steve Davison; five great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Gore will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 8, 2015, in the Millwee Cemetery with Jason Carlton officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m., Sunday, February 8th at the funeral home.
