Mr. Samuel Dexter Harris
Mr. Samuel Dexter Harris, age 67, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Thursday, November 6, 2014 in Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, Texas.
He was born September 23, 1947 in Forrest City, Arkansas. He attended Williamson Community Church. After many years of dedicated and honored service, he retired from Red River Army Depot and the Texas Army National Guard. Sam was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was past Master Mason for the Belleville Masonic Lodge # 35 in Lockesburg and the Sweet Home Masonic Lodge #464 in De Queen. He was also a member of the Silver Hill Masonic Lodge #485 in Gillham.
Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Maudie Ree Powell Harris, his wife, Ellen Vanessa Harris; and two sisters, Mary Francis Harris and Patsy Faye Harris.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Marianne Harris; two grandchildren, Cody Harris and Samantha Harris all of De Queen; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Penny Harris of Nash, Texas and Dale and Paige Harris of Buena Vista, Arkansas; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Marie and John Teel of Nash, Texas, Carolyn and John Mattis of Canton, Texas, Kathryn Gildon of Naples, Texas, and Barbara and James Tankersley of Simms, Texas; and a number of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services with Masonic and Military rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 10, 2014 in the Clear Creek Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Roden officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., Sunday, November 9, 2014 at the funeral home.
Ryder Cole Mitchell
Ryder Cole Mitchell, infant son of Hope Mitchell, died Thursday, November 6, 2014 in Mena, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Sharon Branscum.
Ryder is survived by his mother; his grandparents, “Nana” Michelle Olsen and “Papa” Shawn Olsen; great grandparents, “Papa” Lee Branscum and Polly Sullivan, and Johnny and Marilyn West; his aunts and an uncle, Nicole Pierce and Matt Gore and Dana Jenson; his great aunts and great uncle, Jolynn and William Hoover and Michelle Stinnett; a special friend, Brandi Henthorn; a number of cousins and a host of family and friends.
Graveside funeral services for Ryder will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2014 in the Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family will be at 536 Hwy. 71 North in De Queen.
Oliver Ira Green Moon
Oliver Ira Green Moon, 93, of Bono, AR, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro, AR. He was born February 28, 1921 in Aberdeen, MS. he loved to fish, hunt, and paint. He was of the Baptist belief.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Justice of the Peace John Olive Moon and Sally Pearl Franklin Moon,; his wife, Vera Estell Moon; four brothers: Homer Lee Moon, Sam Moon, Johnny Moon and Syd Moon; a sister, Mary Lou Moon; three children, Bobby Wayne Moon, Patricia Louise Bass and Donald Ray Moon; four grandchildren: Harvest Moon, Jason Bailey, Cynthia Moon and Megan Moon.
Survivors include five children: Helen (Russell) McQueen of Bald Knob, AR, Linda (Virgil) Surber of Ashdown, AR, Johnny (Joan) Moon of Ashdown, AR, Billie Pounds of Bono, AR and Tammy (Shannon) Baker of Bono, AR; 18 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.
funeral Services will be Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Madden Funeral Home in Ashdown, AR. burial will follow at Ashdown Cemetery in Ashdown, AR. Arrangements are under the direction of Madden Funeral Home in Ashdown, AR .
Herbert Wayne “Pete” Priest
Herbert Wayne “Pete” Priest, 78, died Friday, October 3, 2014, in Ontario, Calif. He was born April 1, 1936, in Foreman, Ark., to Bob and Bessie Priest. He was a retired self employed electrician.
Mr. Priest was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert Earl Priest, and a sister, Wilma Priest Lee.
He is survived by two daughters, Regina Michelle Priest of Roseville, Calif., and Christi Linnette Priest of Ontario, Calif.; three grandchildren, Alexis Shannon Priest of Roseville, Calif., Tanner James Priest of Ontario, Calif., and Tessa Elaine Priest of Ontario, Calif.; two sisters, Joan Priest Addesso of San Diego, Calif., and Cindy Priest Ross of Foreman, Ark., 10 nephews and nieces and many, many friends.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at Marvin Cemetery in Wallace, Ark.
Jimmie Grace Stinnett
Jimmie Grace Stinnett, age 80, a lifelong resident of De Queen passed away Tuesday, November 4 in Bryant, Arkansas.
She was born March 16, 1934 in De Queen to Jim and Grace Beaver Mills. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was well known for her delicious candies and cakes. She enjoyed gardening and loved sharing her home grown tomatoes with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Hershel Stinnett, son Ray Stinnett, her brother James B. Mills, and sisters Helen Branson and Sarah Elliott.
Jimmie is survived by one daughter Jo Lyn Crews and her husband John of Benton, Arkansas, one daughter-in-law Debbie Stinnett of Mountain View, Arkansas, a grandson Trey Stinnett of Eureka Springs, Arkansas and granddaughter Kate Baker and her husband, Casey of Ward, Arkansas. She is also survived by her sister Joy Tutt of De Queen and a number of nieces and nephews.
In honoring her wishes, a private family service will be held with Wesley Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Sevier County Humane Society.
Mr. Louis Wiley Magby
Mr. Louis Wiley Magby, age 84, a resident of Tom, Oklahoma, died Saturday, November 1, 2014, at the Little River Nursing and Rehab.
He was born April 27, 1930 in Alleene, Arkansas. He was a self-employed service station owner.
Mr. Magby was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Magby; parents, Lois Garfield and Eva Blount Magby; a great granddaughter and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Ruth Newton Magby; one son, David and Minea Magby of De Queen, Arkansas; two step daughters, Laura and Lance Wise of Tom, Oklahoma and Melanie and Robert Cowley of DeKalb, Texas; three grandchildren, Kevin, Keith and Kraig Magby; eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Magby of Haworth, Oklahoma; one sister, Margie Keel of Alamo, Texas; two half-brothers and nieces and nephews.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 3, 2014 at the Alleene Cemetery Pavilion with Bro. Audey Dawson officiating under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Mrs. Syble Marie Kegley Dickerson
Mrs. Syble Marie Kegley Dickerson, age 80, a resident of Foreman, died Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Christus St. Michael in Texarkana, Texas.
She was born to James Albert and Vivion Reid Kegley in Arkinda,( Little River) Arkansas, on March 12, 1934. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Foreman. She was a homemaker and she also loved bird watching cooking and sewing.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of over 66 years Fred Dickerson, her daughter; Debra Christine Lewis of Foreman, Arkansas , and a son and daughter-in-law Delbert and Paulette Kegley also of Foreman, Arkansas. Three grandchildren; Amanda Johnson, Layne Johnson and Chris Dollarhide and Four Great Grandchildren Thomas Greys, Lilly Greys, Kayla Dollarhide and Garrett Dollarhide, and a special friend Bob Winters.
Memorial services for Mrs. Syble Marie Dickerson will be held Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 2 P.M., in the Foreman Church of Christ with Billy Blakley, Minister officiating. Cremation under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
