Mr. Leonard “Wayne” Oliver
Mr. Leonard “Wayne” Oliver, age 84, resident of Ashdown died Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at his home.
He was born to Leonard Wesley and Ollie Colt Oliver in Frankston, Texas on January 25, 1930. He worked as an insulator and farmer. He loved planting, working and visiting with others about his garden. He also loved being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Willie Mae Cole, Katherine Green, Ann Oliver, Ruby Carlton, Billy Jack Oliver, Arnold Oliver and Son Oliver.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Oliver of Ashdown, his daughters and sons-in-law Sharon Lindsey and husband Randy of Horatio, Susan Johnson and husband Kenny of Winthrop, Cindy Derington and husband Lloyd of Horatio and step daughters and sons- in- law Tammy Smith and husband Ricky and Mona Smith all of Ashdown, Becky Richard and husband Wilton of Mt. Vernon, Texas, a step son R.D. Bishop and wife Tonya of Ashdown. Grandchildren Robby Ray and wife Courtney, Charissa VanVoast and husband Richard all of Horatio, Dustin Taylor and wife Briana of Genoa, Brody Funderburk and wife Amanda of Winthrop and Colton Derington of Horatio. Nine step grandchildren, Eight great- grandchildren and 12 step great- grandchildren. Other survivors include five siblings June Fritz and husband Walton of Seven Point Texas, Pat Wright of Irving, Texas, Jewel Townsend of Dallas, Texas, J. R. Oliver of Paris, Texas, Horace Oliver and wife Linda of Wolfe City Texas.
Cremation arrangements by Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen, Arkansas.
The family is abiding by his wishes with no visitation or memorial services.
Maria “Oma” Hess Bearden
Maria “Oma” Hess Bearden, 82, of Dierks, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014 at her home.
She was born to Friedrich and Mathilde Ronninger Hess in Rodelsee, Germany, on December 4, 1931. Mrs. Bearden immigrated to the United States in 1960 to wed the love of her life, Chesla A. Bearden, whom she met while he was in the Air Force and stationed in Germany. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed working with her flowers and spending time with her family. Everyone she met recognized her love for life; she loved people and they loved her.
Mrs. Bearden was preceded in death by her parents, Friedrich and Mathilde Hess; two brothers, Gregor and Ferdinand Hess; a niece, Mechthelde Hess; and a son-in-law, Doyle Ruth.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Chesla A. Bearden, one daughter, Relinda Ruth of Dierks, Arkansas; two sons and daughters-in-law: Randy and Carole Bearden of Ashdown, Arkansas; Rocky and Frieda Bearden of Valliant, Oklahoma, and seven grandchildren; three great granddaughters; numerous nieces, nephews, and many beloved friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Bearden will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 2, 2014, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Jerry Brazeal officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, November 1st at the funeral home in Dierks.
Mrs. Ella Smith Davis
Mrs. Ella Smith Davis, age 103, born February 9, 1911, in De Queen, Arkansas, called home by her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 30, 2014.
She was the daughter of Robert and Ada Smith, longtime residents of the Fairview Community of Sevier County and De Queen, Arkansas. She was formerly employed by a major department store and co-owner of a local motel. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at Highland Park Baptist Church in Texarkana.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, A. Dewey Davis, and grandson, Steve Tanton.
She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Guest and husband, Bud Guest; her grandchildren, Holly Cook, Dinah and Steve Stults and Ed and Rhonda Guest; her great-grandchildren, Russell Andrew Cook, Jr., Chris Tanton, Dallas Tanton, Josh Goodwin, Jonathan Listar-Guest, Jaron Listar-Guest, Jessica Listar-Guest and Jeena Listar-Guest.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Davis will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 1, 2014 in Redmen Cemetery with Rev. Jason Carlton officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Visitation will be prior to the service.
Ms. Edna “June” Bell Lampkin
Ms. Edna “June” Bell Lampkin, age 66, a resident of Lockesburg, died Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Christus St. Michael in Texarkana, Texas.
She was born to Theo and Thelma Clardy Bell in Lockesburg, Arkansas, on June 6, 1948. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. She worked as a nurse’s aide at the De Queen Hospital and was an avid reader. She also loved playing card games, loved making people laugh, and loved cooking for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Cris Bell.
She is survived by her daughter, April Lampkin and her grandson, Jacobi Lampkin both of Lockesburg. She is survived by four sisters and one brother-in-law all of Lockesburg, Carolyn and Tommy Halsell, Ricky Bell, Bonnie Bell, and Ann Bell. She is survived by four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Skip and Barbara Bell of Lockesburg, Billy Bell of Texarkana, Texas, Theo and Marilyn Bell of Lockesburg, and Steve and Carolyn Bell also of Lockesburg. She is survived by one Aunt Willie Bea Neal of Murray, Utah and an Uncle D.B. Bell also of Murray, Utah. She is survived by twenty-five nieces and nephews, thirty great nieces and nephews, and twelve great-great nieces and nephews. June is also survived by a special “Aunt Effie” of Lockesburg and a host of other family and special friends.
Funeral services for Ms. Edna “June” Bell Lampkin will be held Saturday, November 1st at 2:00 P.M., in the First Baptist Church of Lockesburg, with Rev. Tommy Halsell officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Springs Cemetery, Lockesburg, Arkansas. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Friday, October 31st from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
Mr. James Earl Westbrook
Mr. James Earl Westbrook, age 70, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at his home.
He was born September 3, 1944 in De Queen. He was a self-employed contractor in the poultry and logging industry. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gillham and loved to hunt and fish.
Mr. Westbrook was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Wesley Westbrook and Annie Manning; one grandson, Craig Westbrook in 2005 and one niece, Kim Vann.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sissy and Dennis Arndt of De Queen; one son and daughter-in-law, Scotty and Penney Westbrook of Athens, Arkansas; a special friend, Diane Franklin of De Queen; one sister, Ernestine Young Smith of Gillham, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Clay Westbrook, Jake Arndt and Cade Arndt; three nieces, Karen Whisenhunt, Kathy Driver and Angela Meeker.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Westbrook will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 24, 2014 in Overturf Cemetery with Bro. Homer Frachiseur and Bro. Bob McMannus officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family will be at the home of Dennis and Sissy Arndt, 198 Pecan Meadows Dr., De Queen.
Charles Edward Withem
Charles Edward Withem, 33, of Ashdown, Ark., passed away Monday, October 13, 2014, at his home.
Mr. Withem was born April 7, 1981, in Texarkana, Texas, to Johnnie Scott and Mary Ann Withem. He was a Sergeant in the Marine Corp, and a member of the City Church of Texarkana, Texas. He is preceded in death by his father, Scotty Withem, two grandfathers, Raymond Edward Withem and Charles E. Madden; and a daughter, Briana Hansen.
Mr. Withem is survived by his wife, Roxanne Oliver Withem of Ashdown, Ark.; mother, Mary Ann Withem Edrington and stepfather, Rick Edrington of Texarkana, Ark.; three sons, Caillou Quintal of Ashdown, Ark., Brandon Dame of Schaghticoke, N.Y., Ryan Edward Withem of Ashdown, Ark.; a daughter, Juliana Ormshee of Ashdown, Ark.; a step brother, Chris Edrington of Texarkana, Ark.; a step sister, Melanie West of Bryant, Ark.; paternal grandparents, Bill and Georgia Sawyers of Ashdown, Ark.; maternal grandmother, Wanda Madden of Ashdown, Ark.

Mrs. Tammy Jo Manasco Pitchford
Mrs. Tammy Jo Manasco Pitchford, age 55, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at her home.
She was born February 21, 1959 in De Queen. She and her husband were the owners and operators of Calvin’s Steam Cleaning. She was a member of the Geneva Missionary Baptist Church and loved to garden.
Mrs. Pitchford was preceded in death by her parents, Doyce and Loree Flournoy Manasco; one sister, Ramona Jean Manasco; her mother and father-in-law, E.B. (Jody) and Rose Mae Pitchford and three brothers-in-law, Coy Pitchford, Elmer Ray Pitchford and Kenneth Culp.
She is survived by her husband, Calvin Pitchford; one son and daughter-in-law, Damon Lee and Leah Pitchford; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lindsey Marie Pitchford and Mackenzie Caitlin and Jacob Dinger all of Dierks; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Gayle and Hoyt Adcock and Marilyn Culp all of De Queen, Charlotte and Jim Reed of Marshfield, Missouri and Julie and Roy Pitchford of Dierks; one granddaughter, Kinley Mae; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Caroline and Hayes Halcombe of Dierks; many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; a special uncle, Minor Ray Goodman and family friends, Ashley, Stacy and Bryar Janes.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Pitchford will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 24, 2014, at Geneva Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Travis Lane officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Ida Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
