Rev. Thomas K. Johnson
Rev. Thomas Kennedy Johnson, age 82, a resident of De Queen, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 11, 2014 at his home.
Rev. Johnson was born February 15, 1932 in Raleigh, North Carolina.He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was the director of the Federal Migrant Program for the De Queen Public School System for 22 years. He founded Grace Baptist Church in 1975, was the Church Planter of 2 churches in North Carolina, was a retired minister who served the Lord for over 50 years and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Rev. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, Atlas Thomas and Iris Kennedy Johnson and two brothers, Gerald and Ralph Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years, Ada Harris Johnson; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Thomas K. Johnson, Jr. of Rockland, California, Rev. Timothy and Carrey Johnson and Archie and Lisa Johnson all of De Queen; seven grandchildren, Gene Johnson, Crystal Johnson, Timothy “Gerry” Johnson, Tony Johnson, Kendall Johnson, Ashlie Johnson and Stepheny Baughn; 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Rev. Johnson will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 16, 2014, in the Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Redmen Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, August 15th at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gloris Wanda Suagee Thomas
Mrs. Gloris Wanda Suagee Thomas, age 79, a resident of De Queen, died Friday, August 9, 2014 at her home.
She was born to Joaquin and Elda Wilda Maye Suagee, in Longview, Texas, on October 25, 1934. She was attended Non-Denominational Church, and enjoyed reading and shopping.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Toni Ann Thomas, and two step Great- great-grandchildren, Jaded Bliss Pruitt and Paul Mikulek.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Rev. Alfred Thomas of De Queen, a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Jack Pruitt of De Queen, two grandchildren, Tamara and her husband, Gary Noah of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Dawn and her husband, James Mikulek of Nashville, a step-grandson, Jacky Dean Pruitt of De Queen, a brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Betty Suagee of Houston, Texas, four great-grandchildren, DeWayne Noah ,Lindsey Noah, Disirae Warford and Tori Russell, three step great-grandchildren, Montana Jeanes, Shala Pruitt and Sara Pruitt, and a great-great grandchild, Bentley Willis and three step great-great-grandchildren, Braelyn Jeanes, Elena Mikulek and Serapim Jace Paul Mikulek, and a number of other family members.
Graveside funeral Services for Mrs. Wanda Thomas will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 12th in the Mt. Ida Cemetery with Bro. Dennis Braddock, and Bro. Nati Becerra officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Monday, August 11th from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M.
Mrs. Edna Marie Tilson Vann
Mrs. Edna Marie Tilson Vann, age 63, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas, died Wednesday, August 6, 2014.
She was born in Pottersville, Missouri on October 29, 1950 to Irvin Jack and Dorothy Hudlow Tilson. She was a former employee of Pilgrim’s Hatchery, as a CNA for Brookewood, and was an individual care giver, as well as a homemaker. She was a Baptist and enjoyed crafts, antique shopping, board games, cooking and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her father, and a son, Bobby Irvin McGhee.
She is survived by her husband of over 39 years, Donnie Vann of Gillham, Two sons, Jerry Dale McGhee of Houston, Texas, and Larry Lee McGhee of Lockesburg, a daughter and son-in-law, Tomi Rene and Craig Liles of Tyler, Texas, her mother, Dorothy Tilson of Pottersville, Missouri, three brothers, Larry Tilson of Tecumseh, Missouri, Bobby Jack Tilson of Wichita, Kansas, and Gene Hudlow of Mooney, Missouri, two sisters, Betty Louise Tilson of Missouri, and Kay Liggin of Lockesburg, and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, Nieces, and nephews.
A private memorial services will be at a later date. Cremation under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
Larry Ray Romine
Mr. Larry Ray Romine, age 71, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at his home.
He was born February 7, 1943 in Horatio. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas. Larry was the owner of Romine Oil Company in De Queen; he was a former employee of Sun Oil Company where he was awarded the Distinguished Salesman award. Larry was a very generous person to his family and the community he lived in. He was a scholarship donor to De Queen high School graduating seniors. He was a hard worker and remained devoted to his business his entire life. He was a member of De Queen First Baptist Church, a Gideon, received the Paul Harris Fellow award from De Queen Rotary Club and was an avid Razorback fan.
Mr. Romine was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Burleson and Margaret Cox Romine and one brother, Randy Romine.
He is survived by his wife, Olivia Larimore Romine; two daughters and a son-in-law, Scarlett Romine and Stephanie and Reed Lynch all of De Queen; and seven grandchildren, Grayson, Bennett, Anna Grace, Mary Claire, Avery, Ellis Anne and Anya.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, August 10, 2014, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Virgil Romine and John Lindsey officiating.
Memorials may be made to Larry Romine Memorial Fund, c/o First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 450, De Queen, AR 71832 and will be distributed to the Mary and Martha Center, Reese’s Rainbow, an agency that advocates for the adoption of children with special needs, and Arkansas Children’s Hospital, all of whom held a special place in Larry’s heart.
Clyde McCown
Mr. Clyde McCown, age 84, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Monday, August 4, 2014, at Hospice of the Ozarks in Mountain Home, Arkansas,
He was born to Velvin and Ruby Haney McCown in Ada, Oklahoma , on October 1, 1929. He was a member of the De Queen Church of the Nazarene, and was a retired brick mason. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and animals, especially his dog, Tippy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Ruby McCown, and Eugene McCown, and in February of 2014, his wife of over 59 years, Joyce McCown, and one grandson, Nicholas McCown.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Joye McCown of Calico Rock, Arkansas, two grandchildren, Cameron McCown and wife Robin of Meridian, Idaho, and Amelia McCown of Nampa, Idaho, a brother, Conroe McCown of El Paso, Texas, two sisters, Lillie Scroggins, and Leer Kelly both of Ada, Oklahoma, one very special niece and fishing buddy, Lillie Ella McCown, as well as several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Clyde McCown will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, August 7, 2014, in the De Queen Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Billy Sullivan and Rev. Byron Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Ida Cemetery, De Queen, Ark., under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 7th at the De Queen Church of the Nazarene from 1:00 P.M., until service time. Willie Nora Young Crisp
Mrs. Willie Nora Young Crisp, age 98, a resident of Dierks, died Monday, August 4, 2014 in Carthage, Texas.
She was born May 20, 1916 in Provo, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Dierks.
Mrs. Crisp was preceded in death by her parents, William and Nobie Cannon Young; her husband of 64 years J.D. Crisp; one daughter, Betty Jean Crisp McNutt; two brothers, Algie Young and John Young; three sisters, Leona Young Faulkner, Elverna Young Graves and Mary Young Rogers.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Sherry Crisp of Carthage, Texas and Mike and Anna Crisp of Dierks, Arkansas; one “adopted” son, Quinton Ward; six grandchildren, Sharon McNutt Jackson, Doug McNutt, Tim McNutt, Tamera Crisp Barrera, John Crisp Jr. and DeAnna Crisp; two sisters, Robbie Young Enoch and Cora Faye Young Gore and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Crisp will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 7, 2014, in the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Daniel Barrera, Larry Frye and Clyde Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the McHorse Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 6th at the funeral home in Dierks.
Mrs. Bernice Walker Tackett Tatum
Mrs. Bernice Walker Tackett Tatum, 78 years old, resident of Brookewood Nursing and Rehab in De Queen, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 2, 2014, in Texarkana, Texas. She was born March 10, 1936 in Portland, Oregon to Joseph R. and Hazel Robbins Walker. She lived on this earth 78 years, 4 months, and 23 days.
She raised 8 children while also working outside the home for many years as a cook and a librarian. She was a member of the Church of Christ in De Queen, where she attended services even in her later years when she became wheelchair bound. She enjoyed her family including her Christian family very much, as well as visiting with her many friends that she had made around Sevier County in the past 40+ years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Bill Tackett and Robert Tatum, one brother, Merle Dean Walker, one Son James Tackett, one daughter, Kathy Grant, two sons-in-law, Dearl Taylor and Bill Grant.
She is survived by one sister, Janet Scott of Tillamook, Oregon, two daughters Robin Taylor of Grannis, Arkansas, and Janice Tatum and husband, David Tucker of Mena, Arkansas, four sons, Bill Tackett and wife, Lynn of Cascadia, Oregon, Tom Tackett and wife, Barb of Lebanon, Oregon, Bobby Tatum and wife, Alicia of De Queen, Arkansas, Lewis Tatum, and wife, Elizabeth of Prescott, Arkansas, 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and a host of friends and other extended family.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Bernice Tatum will be held Monday, August 4, 2014, at 10:00 A.M., in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Tye Barnett officiating. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home, Sunday, August 3rd from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M.
