James Robert “Jake” Jackson
James Robert “Jake” Jackson, 54, a resident of Cleveland, TN passed away on April 16, 2014 in Nashville, TN, succumbing to injuries sustained in an automobile accident on December 26, 2013.
Jake was born November 27, 1959 in Atlanta, GA.
He was a graduate of Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, TN. He was employed as a mechanical engineer by Whirlpool Corporation in Cleveland, TN at the time of his death and was previously employed by Poulan/Electrolux in Nashville, AR. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Krogman Jackson of Cleveland, TN; son and daughter in law, Josh and Catherine Jackson of Cookeville, TN; daughter and son in law, Jaima and Scott Shoup of Cookeville, TN, granddaughters, Elizabeth and Rebecca Jackson, Kyla Shoup all of Cookeville, TN; mother and step father, Veva and Billy Foster of Horatio, AR; brother, David Jackson of Horatio, AR; father, Ed Jackson of Houston, TX; step daughter, Janean Mills of Cookeville, TN; step granddaughters Jocelyn and Jaylin Mills. He leaves behind also a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Jake loved his family and friends and all will miss him greatly.
Jake’s physical body was cremated at his request and his soul is in heaven awaiting the rest of us. A memorial service is planned for July 26th, 2014 at Companion Funeral & Cremation Service, 2415 Georgetown Rd. NW, Cleveland, TN 37311 (check with Companion for any change or exact time). In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to Horatio United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
Aubry S. Arnold
Aubry S. Arnold passed from this life Saturday, April 26, 2014 in the Oklahoma Veterans Center, Talihina Division, where he had been a resident for over 2 years.
Aubry was born March 18, 1938 in Hartford, Arkansas to the late Austin A. Arnold and Ruth Evelyn Power.
He graduated High School at Eagletown, OK and married Ina M. Warford June 1, 1958. He served in the ASAF for 20 years, after retirement he and his family returned to McCurtain County, where he was employed by Pine Telephone Company in Broken Bow, OK for 20 years. Aubry was a resident of McCurtain County for 36 years. He was a member of the Gillham Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and her husband, Virginia and Ruben Fields and brother-in-law, Othro (Sonny) Minter. He is survived by his wife, Ina Arnold; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Shelley Arnold of Rockwall, Texas and Chad and Reginia Arnold of Hugo, Oklahoma; one sister, Glenna Minter of Idabel, Oklahoma; one brother and sister-in-law, Don and Lavanna Warford of Broken Arrow, OK; five grandchildren, Justin Arnold of Los Angeles, CA, Krista Schultz and Cory Garrett of Richardson, TX, Tyler Arnold and Fallon Henry of Dallas, TX, Madison Arnold of Rockwall, TX and Stormi Arnold of Hugo, OK; two great-grandchildren, Cole and Raygen Rodriguez of Richardson, TX and a number of nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral Services for Mr. Arnold will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2014, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Raymond Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Millcreek Cemetery.
Myrl Dean Dyer
Myrl Dean Dyer, 93, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Alma Healthcare and Rehab in Alma, AR. She was born November 2, 1920 to W. D. and Pearl Seals Faulkner in Umpire, AR. She was of the Pentecostal Faith and attended Umpire Free Holiness Church, a homemaker, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Gillham Chapter, Silver Hill #542.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Otis Dyer; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Jaunelle Dyer of Tooele, Utah and Charles and Bonnie Dyer of Alma, AR.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Jay Flenor of Van Buren, AR; 6 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Raymon and Sybil Faulkner of Umpire, AR and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday evening, April 28, 2014 at Ocker Funeral Home of Alma, 917 Hwy. 64 East, Alma, AR.
Funeral service will be 12 noon Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Umpire Free Holiness Church with burial at Bethel Cemetery in Umpire, AR. Visitation will be prior to the service at the church under the direction of Ocker Funeral of Alma.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Dyer, Stan Flenor, David Flenor, Phil Dyer, Jay McKinley Flenor and Trey Dyer.

Mrs. Flora Faye Priest Lawson Brewer
Mrs. Flora Faye Priest Lawson Brewer, age 91, a resident of Hugo, Oklahoma, and former resident of Horatio, died Friday, April 25, 2014 in Hugo, Okla.
She was born to Fred Columbus and Minnie Terry Priest on August 4, 1922 in Lockesburg, Arkansas. She was retired owner of Lawson Grocery and Faye’s Bait Shop in Horatio, as well as a land lady, who took care of her property herself. She loved her Lord and was a charter member of the Church of Christ in Horatio. She enjoyed her flower and cactus garden, fishing, bird watching, working, cooking, and was a people person. She had a gracious heart, and would give to others who had need. Know to all as Momma Faye was a homemaker, and loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Luther Allen Lawson, and Buddy Brewer, a son, John Paul Lawson, a step-son, Cecil Lawson, and all her siblings, Fred “Bunk” Priest, Nathan Priest, Jim Priest, Terry Priest, Bud Priest, Emma Rose, Madean Priest, and Annie Priest.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Fred and Mentha Lawson of Soper, Okla., K. Lee Lawson of Horatio, a daughter, Sue Whitaker of Mayer, Arizona, a step-son, Dale Lawson of Carson City, Nevada, a step-daughter, Geraldine Hughes of Bakersfield, California, 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren, a sister and brother-in-law, Dot and Lauren Kitt of Yakima, Washington, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Faye Lawson Brewer will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 28, 2014 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Horatio Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. Mr. Buford Dale Gideon, age 68, a resident of Idabel, Oklahoma, died Saturday, April 26, 2014,in Christus St. Michael Health System.
He was born to H. B. and Marguerite Raley Gideon in Copeville, Texas, on June 29, 1945. He
was a retired truck driver, having drove for AP and Nashville Trucking. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in his father, and a brother, Leon Richard Merritt.
He is survived by his wife of over 42 years, Carol Ann Gideon of Idabel, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Buford Dale, Jr. and Angie Gideon of Lubbock, Texas, and Leslie Dale Gideon of Coleman, Texas, three daughters and a son-in-law, Benita and Terry Harvill of Odessa, Texas,
Korina Diane Russell of Eagletown, Oklahoma, and Marguerite Roberts of Idabel, Okla., his mother, Marguerite Merritt of Idabel, Oklahoma, one sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Slim Sowell of Lockesburg, 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services with military rites for Mr. Buford Gideon will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 29th in Redmen Cemetery, De Queen, Arkansas, with Rev. Tim Johnson officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, April 28th
Grover Eugene Bidwell
Grover Eugene Bidwell, age 84, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at his home.
He was born June 11, 1929 in Barstow, Texas. He completed high school and took college courses at Schreiner Institute in Kerrville, Texas. He enlisted in the U.S. Marines in 1946 and served during the Korean War and was in the Marine Reserve Unit in Texarkana until his discharge. He attended University of Southern Arkansas in Magnolia and later graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1957.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Cleveland and Eugenia Boggs Bidwell and four brothers, Robert Bidwell, Jack Bidwell, David Bidwell and Jay Bidwell.
Mr. Bidwell is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Nella Bidwell of El Dorado, AR; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Camilla and Jack Butler of Burnet, TX and Kathryn and Jim Delap of Prairie Grove, AR; six nephews and five nieces; and two sisters-in-law, Noemi Bidwell Goodwin of Amarillo, TX and Dorothy Bidwell of Oceanside, CA.
The family wishes to thank his many, many friends in the De Queen and Gillham area who cared for him in his last months and special friend from Dallas, Texas.

Mr. Leroy Hallman
Mr. Leroy Clyde Hallman, age 72, died Wednesday, April 15, 2014 at his home in Arlington, Texas.
He was born to George "Harold" Hallman and Sarah Lucille Dewing Hallman in Ben Lomond on February 21, 1942. He was retired from General motors, with 43 years service. He had many hobbies, each of which he was determined to do his very best. He was a mechanic, loved to boat, fish and ski. He excelled at bowling, slow pitch softball, gardening, marathon running, long distance cycling, and mountain biking and T-4 racing. Even in his 70's Leroy remained an avid cyclist and trail volunteer at River Legacy Off-Road MTB Trails where he made many friends with his outgoing easy nature and his enormous smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Patricia McDowell Hallman of Arlington, his daughters, Cheri Lee, Edith "Renee", Sarah Michele "Shelly", and a son, Bruce Edwin Hallman, his grandchildren, Devin, Miranda, Cassie Lee and Calie Ann, Cat and Sobe.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 25th at 2:00 pm, in the Wade Family Funeral Home, Arlington, Texas. Graveside Services at Ben Lomond Cemetery, Ben Lomond, Arkansas, on Saturday, April 26th at 3:00 pm, under the direction of Wade Family Funeral Home, Arlington, Texas.
