Amy May Churchwell Brewer
Amy May Churchwell Brewer, age 86, a resident of Gillham, AR, died Monday, April 7, 2014 at Brookewood Nursing Center in De Queen.
She was born December 24, 1927 in Gillham. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed gardening and camping.
Mrs. Brewer was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Augusta and Elsie Jane Almond Churchwell; her husband, Edgar Roy Brewer; a son, Roy Brewer; and two brothers, Howard and John Churchwell.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vona and James McKinley of Horatio, AR; four grandsons, Michael Whisenhunt, Sam Whisenhunt and wife Ashley, Josh Whisenhunt, Jared Brewer and wife Lawre, and one granddaughter, Amber Dewvall; 9 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Brewer will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Homer Frachiseur officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 9th at the funeral home.
Louise Mabry Davis
(September 27, 1914 - November 1, 2011)
Louise Mabry Davis, age 97, a long time resident of Mena, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at her home.
She was born September 27, 1914 in Valliant, Oklahoma to the late George Mabry and the late Nita Cromwell Mabry. She was united in marriage to the late Carroll Glenn Davis on April 11, 1946 for 50 years. She was a schoolteacher for many years in Valliant and McAlester, Oklahoma and also in Hatfield, Arkansas. She and her husband were the owners of the Bogg Springs Bed and Breakfast. Mrs. Davis enjoyed many other activities, and was active as a Lioness and in her local Gardening Club. She was strong in her faith and was a member of the United Methodist Church. She was a loving sister-in-law, cousin, and friend to many, and will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nita Mabry, by her husband Carroll Glenn Davis, and by a brother and sister-in-law, J.P. and Mildred Mabry.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 4, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mena with Reverend Gary Harrison officiating. Interment follows in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Hatfield under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be general.
Pallbearers will be Drew Davis, Dwight Davis, Dirk Hamlen, Jack Mabry, Joe Mabry, and Jim Redman. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Gardner and Reynolds Gardner.
Mr. Darrell Fayne “Chip” Leeper, Jr
Mr. Darrell Fayne “Chip” Leeper, Jr., age 50, a resident of Gillham, Arkansas, died Friday, April 4, 2014 in De Queen.
He was born to Darrell F. Leeper, Sr. and Vada Rogers Leeper in De Queen, Arkansas, on May 18, 1963. He was an employee of Bingham Mobile Homes, and was a Baptist. He enjoyed
fishing, especially Salmon fishing, and wood working.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Shanda Diehle, and Dana Lynn Leeper.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Gwendolynn Leeper of Gillham, one
brother and sister-in-law, Joel and Celia Leeper of Grand Blanc, Michigan, two sisters, Charlotte Martin of Gillham, and Kelly Schell of De Queen, one niece and several nephews.
A memorial services will be at a later date. Cremation under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Chip Leeper Memorial Fund, First National Bank, 504 Collin Raye Drive, De Queen, AR 71832.
Mr. Marvin Glenn Smith
Mr. Marvin Glenn Smith, age 77, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at his home.
He was born December 1, 1936 in De Queen to Willis Duey and Orbra Lee (Cantlon) Smith. He was a Baptist, a former employee of Dierks Forest, Inc., and the Rubber Corp. of America. He was also a former Wildlife Officer for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, and a veteran of the United States Army. In later years, he became an Independent Distributor and owner of Marvin Smith Lime and Fertilizer; he was a rancher and farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-father, Reginald Harrison; one sister, Helen Bynum and three brothers, Eugene Smith, Melvin Smith and A.F. Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Geraldine (Morphew) Smith; one son, Glenn (Melinda) Smith and one daughter, Sheila (Mike) Wilson all of De Queen; one sister, Willie Lee Sunderman of Nashville, AR; two brothers, Kent (Kerry) Harrison of Hot Springs, AR and Leo (Beverly) Harrison of Fayetteville, AR; his grandchildren, Cole Smith, Adam Smith, Beau Hughes, Chris (Stacy) Wilson and Grant Wilson; three great-grandchildren, Haylin, Carsin and Corey and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral Services for Mr. Smith will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 5, 2014, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Raymond Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Millcreek Cemetery.
Mr. William Michael Whitlow
Mr. William Michael Whitlow, age 52, a resident of Foreman, Arkansas, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014 in Ashdown, Arkansas.
He was born May 3, 1961 in Ashdown. He was the manager for Pallet One in Foreman.
Mr. Whitlow was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Marge Ross Whitlow and two brothers, David Whitlow and Terry Norman.
He is survived by his wife, Melondy Dossett Whitlow; two daughters and one son-in-law, Danielle and James Boyd and Aspen Whitlow; one son, Ryan Whitlow and Andrea Bearden all of Foreman; one brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Missy Whitlow of Foreman; two sisters, Tammy Whitlow of Foreman and Tanya Burr of Lakewood, Colorado; two aunts, Opal Gauldin of Foreman and Billie Richmond of Wichita Falls, Texas; two grandchildren, Maddison and Riley Boyd; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Winston and Bethel Dossett and a number of nieces, nephews, and family members.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Whitlow will be held at 1:00 pm., Monday, April 7, 2014, in Green Cemetery with Phil Smith and Winston Dossett officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 6th at the funeral home.
Mr. Lankford Pennington
Mr. Lankford Pennington, age 95, a resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014, in Brookewood Nursing Center in De Queen.
He was born March 26, 1919 in Kentucky. He was a heavy equipment operator for Sevier County, a member of the Church of Christ and a U.S. Navy veteran.
Mr. Pennington was preceded in death by his parents; Shake and Gilley Ann Plumlee Pennington and his wife, Lucy Montgomery Pennington.
He is survived by one sister, Helen Sneed of Plano, Texas; one sister-in-law, Lorene Pennington of De Queen and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Pennington will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 4, 2014, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with John Henry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Ida Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 3rd at the funeral home.
Mr. Marlin Ray Allen
Mr. Marlin Ray Allen, age 81, a resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana, died Sunday at his home.
He was born on February 25, 1933 in De Queen, Arkansas to Walter Allen, Sr. and Tompie Willmon Allen. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was owner of Allen’s Financial Services and Used Cars in Lake Charles, and was a Christian. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling in their RV.
Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Walter Allen, Jr., a niece, Deborah Love, and his in-laws, Roy Smith, H. L. Smith, and Tom Cowling.
He is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Diane Sawyer Allen of Lake Charles, Louisiana, one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Ray and Tania Allen of Lake Charles, Louisiana, one daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Tom Estes of Austin, Kentucky, five grandchildren, Shelby, and her husband, Tyler Heber of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Erin and her husband, Stephen Forsse of Waco, Texas, Courtney Bowles of Fort Collins, Colorado, Ryan Wallace of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Lindsay Gillard of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, two great-granddaughters, Madailine Bowles, and Zoe Bowles both of Ft. Collins, Colorado, four sisters and a brother-in-law, Joyce Smith of Alamo, Texas, Floy Smith of Hot Springs, Ark., Carolyn Cowling of De Queen, and Marolyn and Wendell Needham also of De Queen, a sister-in-law, Barbara Allen, Frisco, Texas and a number of nieces and nephews.
