Ernest Samuel Noey

Ernest Samuel Noey went to be with his Lord on the afternoon of Feb. 8th, 2014. He was born at home in the Wallace Hill Community, 1/2 mile west of Water's Store, De Queen, Ar. in 1941.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years Jacqueline Noey, his five children and their spouses and children, as well as a 4 great-grandchildren. Living in De Queen are Jewell & Jeremiah Banet and their son Eli; Jeremy & Bridget Noey and their children Sierra, Austin, MacKenzie, & Tucker; Jamie & Adrian Frank and their children Robbie & Kenny. Living in Success, Missouri are Dale Noey and his daughter Lisa. Living in Indiana are Neal & Roseann Noey and their children Matthew and Trisha as well as her husband and children, while their daughter Crystal and her spouse and children live in Alabama.

He is also survived by his sister and her family, Ruby & Clarence Vallee, and his many nephews & nieces and their families. He is preceded in death by his father Ernest Murphy Noey and his mother Jessie Beatrice (Stover) Noey.

He was an active member of Geneva Missionary Baptist Church. He was known in his community for his musical talent as he sang and played guitar, fiddle, and mandolin at the Sevier County Museum and area nursing homes as well as for his church.

He retired from Weyerhaeuser after working there for 32 years. At various times throughout his life he raised chickens, hogs, and cattle. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener who was known for his generosity.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral Services for Mr. Ernest Noey will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 12th in the Geneva Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Travis Lane officiating. Burial will follow in the Wofford's Chapel Cemetery, De Queen, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. The Family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 11th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM

Della Bonita Slaton

Mrs. Della Bonita Slaton, 87, died Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Brookewood Nursing Center in De Queen, Arkansas.

She was born to Wesley and Bertha Waits, May 16, 1926 in De Queen, Arkansas.

Mrs. Slaton was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Earl (Buddy) Slaton, a brother, Richard Waits and two sisters, Delsey Tollett and Bettye Jayne Ray.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Jim Sharp of Lockesburg and Bonita and Glen Houser of Texarkana, Arkansas; one son and daughter-in-law, Earl (Sonny) and Jennie Slaton of Texarkana, Arkansas; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

A private family service was held.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 2448 E. 81st Street, Suite 3000, Tulsa, OK 74137.

Abigail Elizabeth Hanway

Abigail Elizabeth Hanway, age 5, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas passed peacefully at home after a three year battle with cancer.

Abby was born July 13, 2008 in Texarkana, Texas to Leonard and Katie Langhammer Hanway. Abby was a kindergartner at Horatio Elementary School. Her loves included the color purple, swinging, watering flowers, playing hopscotch, watching Dora, riding her IV pole and surprising people. Most of all she loved playing with her little sister.

The Family would like to thank the entire staff of Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Temple Memorial Rehab, and Dierksen Hospice for the wonderful, loving care they have provided to our family over the last three years. Abby is survived by her parents, Leonard and Katie Hanway and sister, Alexis; her grandparents, Sylvia Langhammer of Kansas City, Missouri, and James and Virginia Hanway of St. Joseph, Missouri and her great-grandparents, Peter and Carmen Garcia of Kansas City, Missouri. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 11th at Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be held in Kansas City, Missouri.

Paul Edward Revels

Paul Edward Revels, age 47, a resident of Dallas, Texas died Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in Dallas.

He was born February 13, 1966 in De Queen. He was an attorney and a member of the First Baptist Church in De Queen. Paul loved dogs and worked with the Dalmatian Rescue Unit in Dallas.

Paul is survived by his parents, Ed and Arlene Revels; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Susan Fitzsimmons and Dee Ann and Ronnie Toye; one brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Maribeth Revels all of De Queen; 3 nieces, 3 nephews and 3 great-nieces.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 8, 2014, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Lockesburg Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, February 7th at the funeral home.

Julie Ann Johnson Matias

Julie Ann Johnson Matias, age 55, a resident of Texarkana, Texas, died Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at her home.

She was born September 17, 1958 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a former employee of Tyson Foods.

Mrs. Matias was preceded in death by her mother, Golda Ruth DeCamp Johnson.

She is survived by her husband, Jose Matias of Calhoun, Georgia; her father, James R. Johnson of Iowa; two sons, Daniel Flores and wife Brittney of Winthrop, Arkansas and Freddie Flores and fiancé Krystal of Cove, Arkansas; one daughter, Alicia Flores of De Queen, Arkansas; three brothers, Jimmy Johnson, Jerry Johnson and Kenny Johnson all of Iowa; one sister, Bonnie Morris of Minnesota; five grandchildren, Clint, Sierra, Garrett, Sharon and Nathaniel; her aunt and uncle, Lillian and Robert Green of Mena, Arkansas; a number of nieces and nephews and a special friend, Harley.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Matias will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Crossroads Baptist Church with Gary Steiner officiating. Burial will follow in the Gravelly Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00 a.m., Saturday, at Crossroads Baptist Church.

Arlis Ray Baker

Mr. Arlis Ray Baker, age 74, of Vandervoort, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in Mena.

He was born January 26, 1940 in Cove, Arkansas to the late James Elmer Baker and the late Mattie Pearl Cornelius Baker. He was happily married for 52 years to Eula Fay Morrison. Arlis was a logger by trade and also took great pride as a member of the Vandervoort Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Vandervoort “Local Bunch Hunting Club”, but his true love was his family, who will miss him greatly. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Authur and Elizabeth Morrison, and 4 brothers, Benny, Arnold, Buddy and Leon Baker.

He is survived by:

Wife: Eula Fay Baker of the home

Children: Tina Jewell and husband Terry of Vandervoort, Arkansas; Darla Barrett and husband Dwight of Vandervoort, Arkansas; Terry Ray Baker and wife Rhonda of Mena, Arkansas

Grandchildren: Derek and Lindsey Barrett, Dylan and Morgan Barrett, Samantha Jewell, Brooke and Caleb McReynolds, Natasha and Johnathon Neal and Mary Miller

Great-Grandchildren: Dakota Barrett, Dylan Ray Barrett II, Colter and Brentlee McReynolds and

Hunter Neal

Brothers: Doug and Marie Baker and Charles and Becky Baker

Brother-Law: Franklin and Cheryl Morrison

Sisters-in-Law: Joyce Wilson, Mary Ritter and Joan Morrison

Special Friends: Freddie and Diane Baker

Several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends too great to mention

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Church of the Nazarene at Cove with Brother Donnie Jewell officiating. Interment follows in Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday evening, February 7th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Fern Carol LeMay Gum

Fern Carol LeMay Gum, age 72, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Monday, February 3, 2014 in Texarkana, Texas.

She was born July 28, 1941 in Tehachapi, California to James Edward and Della Lilian Carson LeMay.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Crystal McGraw; four brothers, Charles “Lucky” LeMay, James Edward LeMay, Robert Edward LeMay and Gene LeMay and son-in-law, Willie White.

She is survived by one daughter, Carol White of De Queen; one son, Rodney LeMay of Texarkana, Arkansas; two brothers, Albert Edward LeMay of Colorado and John E. LeMay of Tennessee; six sisters, Annie Case of South Carolina, Mary Lewis of California, Betty Wayman of Kansas, Wilma Watson of Colorado, Ruth Davis of Texas and Jean LeMay of Colorado; four grandchildren, Brooke Guerrero and Perfecto Guerrero both of De Queen, Willie L. White III and Machiko White both of Seattle, Washington; six great-grandchildren, Zorayda Guerrero, Armani Guerrero, Neftalin White, Abisai DeJesus, Crystal White and Andrea White and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial services are pending.
