Mr. Thomas Edward Jackson
Mr. Thomas Edward Jackson, age 81, a resident of Idabel, Oklahoma, died Thursday, January 30, 2014 at his home.
He was born May 9, 1932 in Cerro Gordo, Oklahoma. He was a production supervisor for Mrs. Baird’s Bakery for 44 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Mary Louise Miller Jackson and one son, Randy Wayne Jackson.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Allene Wilson Jackson; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Danny and JoAnn Jackson of Lubbock, Texas, Tommy and Nancy Jackson of Broken Bow, Oklahoma and Dean Jackson of Idabel, Oklahoma; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bob Rives also of Idabel; seven grandchildren, Michael, Dustin, Jessica, Rachel, Rebecca, Christopher Allen and Sheila Kay.
A memorial service for Mr. Jackson will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 1, 2014 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Virgil Romine officiating.
Wanda Sorrels Click
Wanda Sorrels Click of Winthrop, Arkansas was born December 16, 1931 in Blackland, Arkansas, to Lula and Albert Sorrels and died January 29, 2014. Her parents, two sisters, Bernice Sorrels Baxter and Judy Sorrels Cloud, and one brother, Don Sorrels preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband of sixty three years Rod Click and three children, Pam Click of Winthrop, Rodger Click of Winthrop and Melanie (Mickey) Buchanan of Texarkana, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Courtney (Natasha) Click, Carly (Garrett) Stanley, Dylan Buchanan and Ty Buchanan and two great granddaughters, Madison Click and Mia Stanley and a host of other relatives.
Mrs. Click was a graduate of Foreman High School, attended Harding University, the University of Arkansas, and Southern State, and received her BSE in Elementary Education and an MSE in Reading from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She taught in the Winthrop Elementary in Winthrop, Arkansas for 30 years; she completed her career at New Boston, Texas, at Crestview Elementary. She was a dedicated teacher, grandparent, wife, and parent. Her interests included genealogy, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the King Ryder Church of Christ.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Click will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 1, 2014 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with James McRae, Virgil Romine and Audie Dawson officiating. Burial will be in Campground Cemetery at Winthrop.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M., Friday, January 31st at the funeral home.

Claude Ray “Sonny” Downs
Mr. Claude Ray “Sonny” Downs, age 76, a resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, January 29th at his home.
He was born to Haskell Lee and Nellie Florence Swagger Downs in Picher, Oklahoma, on December 25, 1937. He served in the military, had worked in the uranium mines in Grants, New Mexico, and was a retired mechanic. He enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Mike Whitney.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Phillip Ray and Karen Downs and Steven Ray Downs all of De Queen, two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and James Simmons and Debbie and Sid Stahlman all of De Queen, two brothers, Robert Whitney of Gillham, and Russell Whitney of De Queen, two sisters, Barbara Curtis of De Queen, and Dolly Jaramillo of Grants, New Mexico, ten grandchildren, Davin, Sherri, Megan, Elizabeth, Jayden, and Isabelle Downs, Jason and Kevin Johnson, and Jared and Stacie Simmons, eight great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Sonny Downs will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 1st In the Chandler Funeral home Chapel with Rev. Byron Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Ida Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Friday, January 31st from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
Alta Vastine Montgomery Hendricks
Mrs. Alta Vastine Montgomery Hendricks, age 90, a resident of De Queen, died Monday, January 27, 2014, in the De Queen Medical Center, De Queen.
She was born to Elmer Lee and Kate May Williamson Montgomery, in Lockesburg, Arkansas, on February 9, 1923. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church, and was a loving mother and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, walking, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Ray Hendricks in 1986, her parents, and her siblings, Ray Montgomery, Alvie Montgomery, Alfus Montgomery, Cleo “Dutch” Montgomery, Ella Faye Ridley, Lucy Pennington, and Laverne Gore.
She is survived by a daughter, Kay Cassels of Lewisville, Texas, a granddaughter, Carey Lynne’ and Byron Bailey of Dallas, Texas, a brother, Manton Montgomery of De Queen, and a number of nieces and nephews, including Judy Tomilson, Jane McKinley, Ronnie Montgomery, Sammy Hendricks, Elizabeth Wilson, Myrtle Sims, and John Cleve Hendricks.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Alta Hendricks will be held at 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 29th in the Mt. Ida Cemetery, De Queen, with Bro. Sam Hendricks officiating., under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 28th.
Bob Whitt
Bob Whitt, 88, of Eagletown, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday January 26, 2014 on a beautiful winter morning at his home in Eagletown.
He was born November 1, 1925 the son of J.A. Whitt and May Scaggs Whitt in Purdy, Oklahoma.
Bob entered the Navy in 1944 . During his service he received a Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal. He was very proud of his service to his country. Bob had fought a long hard battle with brain cancer. Fighting the cancer with true dignity with his daughter, Bobbie by his side and holding his hand till the lord called him home.
He had lived in Eagletown since 1964 moving here from Lindsay, Oklahoma. Bob was a retired fireman with the Lindsay Fire Department and a volunteer fireman with the Eagletown Fire Department. Bob was a Christian, having been baptized on September 12, 2010 in Eagletown, Oklahoma. He was a very active member of the Eagletown Assembly of God Church. He was awarded the oldest father and the oldest veteran at the Eagletown Assembly of God over the last few years. Bob had a love of the outdoors and everything it held, from the beautiful views at deer camp to the peacefulness of the streams and lakes he fished. He was known far and wide for making his black bug lures. He is now fishing his favorite fishing hole in heaven with all his family and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Edith Tanneyhill and her husband Nig Tanneyhill, brother, Pat Eugene Whitt, Brother in laws, Royce Melott and Johnny Mayfield. He leaves to cherish his memory, Daughter Bobbie Mayfield of Eagletown, Oklahoma; Sister, Helen Melott of Gainesville, Texas; a brother, Paul Whitt and wife Linda of Eagletown, Oklahoma; Granddaughter, Jerri Ann Fick and husband Chris, Grandson, Clifton Lindsey and wife Ruth and five Great grandchildren. Special nieces and nephews, Thomas Whitt, Theresa Whitt, Alan Whitt and J.R. Barrera and a very special friend Betty Murry.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.at the Bunch- Singleton Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
Services will be Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Bow, Oklahoma with Interment in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, Oklahoma. The family request donations be made to the Eagletown Senior Citizens Center in Eagletown, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
James Franklin "Willie" Williams
James Franklin "Willie" Williams, age 67, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas died Saturday, January 25, 2014, in Little Rock, Arkansas.
He was born on February 5, 1946, in Sevier County Arkansas. He was an Army Veteran, employee of De Queen School System; he was a Christian and attended the Greens Chapel Methodist Church.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Lyde B., Sr. and Helen Marjorie Kiser Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Janes Williams; one son and daughter-in-law, Jody and Kristel Williams; two daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda and Byron Garcia and Charlie and Keith Sorrels all of De Queen; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lyde, Jr. and Glenda Williams and Earl and Lenda Williams all of De Queen; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and James A. Harris of Umpire, Arkansas; ten grandchildren, Chealsie and (Ben) McColley, Kennedy Williams, Dallas Gammon, Alexis and Cameron Hankins, Emily Garcia, Blake and Montana Sorrels and Little Willie on the way; two great grandchildren, Timothy McColley and Luke on the way; a number of nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral services for Willie Williams will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 29, 2014, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Robert Lyons officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 28th at the funeral home.
Mrs. Britta Christina Kiepen Nunn
Mrs. Britta Christina Kiepen Nunn, age 55, a resident of De Queen, died Sunday, January 26th in De Queen Medical Center, De Queen.
She was born to Horst F. and Margaret J. Reuling Kiepen in Deuesseldorf, Germany, on February 12, 1958. She attended the De Queen Assembly of God, and enjoyed cooking, crafts, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her husband, Roger Nunn of De Queen, a daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Patricio Marrufo of Hot Springs, Arkansas, her mother, Margaret Kiepen of De Queen, a sister, Carol Logan of Panama City, Florida, two grandbabies, Samantha Marrufo, and Eleyna Marrufo both of Hot Springs, her niece, Andrea Kiepen of Sacramento, Calif.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 27th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Chandler Funeral Home.
