Harriet Lynn Meeks

Harriet Lynn Meeks, affectionately called, Lynn, age 67, a resident of Whitewright, Texas, and former resident of De Queen, died Saturday, December 28, 2013 in Texoma Medical Center, Dennison, Texas.

She was born to Franklin and Esther Houser Meeks at De Queen, Arkansas, on February 21, 1946. Lynn was a graduate of De Queen High School in 1964, and was retired from Texas Instruments, Sherman, Texas. She was a member of the Union Community Church, and enjoyed reading, and flower gardening.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and LeAnn Meeks of Texarkana, Arkansas, a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Jerry Hubbard of Magnolia, Arkansas, three nephews, Bryan Meeks, Daniel Meeks both of Texarkana, Matt Hubbard of Little Rock, two nieces, Kim Meeks of Texarkana, and Jennifer Marshall of Golden, Colorado, an uncle, Bobby Meeks of Yuma, Arizona, and a number of cousins.

Graveside funeral services for Lynn Meeks will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 2nd in the Avon Cemetery with Rev. Matt Hubbard officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. No visitation is scheduled.

Rev. Richard R. Bolt

Services to celebrate the life of Rev. Richard R. Bolt, 63, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at Point Chapel Assembly of God Church in Doyline, LA. Services will be conducted by Richard’s dear friend, Rev. Bob Fant, Pastor of First Assembly of God Church in Springdale, AR. Interment will follow in Old Center Cemetery, DeQueen, AR at 3:30p.m. The family will receive guests on Monday evening between the hours of 5-7p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, Haughton, LA.

Richard was born April 24, 1950, in De Queen, AR to parents, James Walter and Edna L. (Green) Bolt. He left this life to join his heavenly father on Thursday, December 26th, 2013. Richard was a 1968 graduate of DeQueen High School and went on to attend Texarkana Community College and Southwestern Assembly of God College in Waxahatchie, TX. He was in the Assemblies of God ministry for forty years in the states of TX, AR, MS, and LA and was a member of the Ministerial Association. Richard also built Canaan Assembly of God Church in Booneville, MS. His ministry was dedicated to the construction and refurbishment of churches and related facilities.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents; step-father, General James Carter; and his brother, James Randy Bolt.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Hicks) Bolt; daughters, Richelle Shelton and husband Jeff of Cleveland, TN, Angela Jennings and husband Mike of Haughton, LA, and Tamara Hillmer and husband Casey of Waterford, MS; grandchildren, Josh Hillmer, Guy Shelton, Cole Shelton, Drew Jennings, Carter Hillmer, Richard Jennings, and Cailey Hillmer; sisters, Lavada Munoz and husband Frank of East Longmeadow, MA, Laverne Addington and husband Don of DeQueen, AR; brother, Mike Carter and wife Pam of Dierks, AR; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Mr. Randall Dewayne “Randy” Honea

Mr. Randall Dewayne “Randy” Honea, age 42, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Sunday, December 29, 2013, at his home.

He was born to Harold Dean and Carol Tarpley Honea in De Queen, Arkansas, on August 19, 1971. He was a 1989 graduate of De Queen High School, a graduate of Cossatot Community College, and attended Texas A&M at Texarkana, and Jones Community College in Mississippi. He was a conductor for the Patriot Railroad (D&E.T.O.&E), and was a member of the Kern Heights Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his son, Mason.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his son, Mason Honea of Dierks, his mother, Carol Honea of De Queen, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rhonda and Kurt Nauman, and Renee and Keith Norwood all of Bryant, Arkansas, and Becky and Robbie Rogers of De Queen, four nephews, Davis Norwood, and Josh Norwood both of Bryant, Colton Rogers, and Luke Rogers of De Queen, three nieces, Lana Nauman, Laura Nauman, and Natalie Norwood all of Bryant, Arkansas, and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral Services for Mr. Randy Honea will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rusty Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Mineral Cemetery, Gillham, Arkansas, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends at Chandler Funeral Home on Monday, December 30th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Kern Heights Baptist Church Youth Fund.

Mrs. Fumiko “Suzie” Wester

Mrs. Fumiko “Suzie” Wester, age 79, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Saturday, December 28, 2013 at her home.

She was born November 23, 1934 in Yomitan Village, Okinawa, Japan.

She was a homemaker and a NSA Buddhist. Mrs. Wester was preceded in death by her parents, Yoshiro and Kame Arakaki Maeda.

She is survived by her husband, Terry Wester; one brother, Yoshiteru Maeda and two sisters, Mitsuko Maeda and Shizue Ikehara all of Yomitan Village, Okinawa, Japan; two sisters-in-law, Stella Pitts and Carol Ross both of Horatio, Arkansas and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Wester will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2013, in the Shady Grove Cemetery with David Smith officiating under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Mr. Malvin Ward Lansdell

Mr. Malvin Ward Lansdell, age 69, a resident of Winthrop, Arkansas, died on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at his home.

He was born June 18, 1944 at Foreman, Arkansas. He was a retired papermaker with Domtar and a cattleman.

Mr. Lansdell was preceded in death by his parents, John and Vivian Lansdell; three brothers, J.R., Edward and twin brother, Alvin Lansdell.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Turner Lansdell; two sons and daughters-in-law, Cliff and Nancy Lansdell of Alleene, Arkansas, Grant and Melissa Lansdell of Foreman; one daughter and son-in-law, Malenda and Shawn Cree of Texarkana; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Erma Lansdell, Dale and Laurenza Lansdell all of Foreman and Harold and Virginia Lansdell of Ashdown, Arkansas; mother-in-law, Ruth Turner of Winthrop; grandchildren, Allison Cree, Olivia Lansdell and Logan Lansdell; one step-granddaughter, Kristy Lansdell; twenty-one nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Lansdell will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 31, 2013, in the Winthrop Methodist Church with Phil Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Alleene Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Mrs. Maylene Grace Southworth Alexander

Mrs. Maylene Grace Southworth Alexander, age 81, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, went to meet her Lord, family and friends on Sunday, December 29, 2013 in the De Queen Regional Medical Center.

She was born October 31, 1932 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was a lifetime member of the De Queen First Baptist Church; she loved her family and friends, enjoyed gardening and loved animals.

Mrs. Alexander was preceded in death by her husband, Max and daughter, Cynthia Southworth; parents, Walter and Lula Duensing Dobbs; brother, Les Dobbs; sisters, Evelyn Browning and Maxine Brown.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Claudia Stiers of De Queen and Brynda and Rick Lilley of Morrilton, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Scot Stiers, Wendy and (Cameron) McCain and Dax and (Amanda) Lilley; four great grandchildren, Coty Stiers, Jake McCain, Ben and Elijah Lilley; two very dear friends, Lavonne Mullins Tutt and David Walters; nieces, nephews and a brother and sister-in-law.

The family wants to give special thanks to Dr. Lofton of De Queen, Dr. Black of Texarkana, hospice workers and staff at the De Queen hospital.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, December 30th at Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

Cephis M. Hall

Cephis M. Hall, age 72, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma died Tuesday, December 24, 2013, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was born May 10, 1941 near Dierks, Arkansas, to the late Robert and Elsie (Perrin) Hall. He graduated from Horatio High School in 1960. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Cephis worked with his family throughout his younger years as a logger and construction worker. In 1990 Cephis and his family moved to Hochatown where they owned and operated a rock shop until his health failed.

He was an active member of the McCurtain Gem and Mineral Club in Idabel, OK where he previously served as president and vice president. He was currently show chairman. He loved to do school programs all over the state of Oklahoma and field trips to hunt quartz crystals to help study Gods creation in earth science.

Cephis and his special friend Sid Love discovered and excavated the rarest find in McCurtain County, the Acrocanthosarus. A mounted cast became the center piece of the Museum of the Red River in Idabel, OK, later to become the State Fossil of Oklahoma.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Ann (Bailey) Hall; two daughters and a son-in-law, Angela and Michael Wilson of Andover, Kansas and April De Foor of De Queen; one son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Channa Hall of Eagletown, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Marissa De Foor, Connor Wilson and Bailey Ann Hall; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, James and Dorothy Hall and Lemuel Hall all of De Queen, Douglas and Jerri Hall of Littleton, Colorado and Roger and Nola Hall of De Queen; a special family friend, Mickey Tinney of Winnsboro, Texas and a number of nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Hall will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 28, 2013, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Keith Bean and Wayne Edgar officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, December 27th at the funeral home.
