David H. Ruth
Mr. David Henry Ruth, age 57, resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Monday, July 21, 2003 at his home.
He was born to Ernest and Rosia M. Blackburn Ruth at Brinkley, Arkansas, on December 1, 1945. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the U.S. Army, and was a truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and riding motorcycles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Donald Ruth; and two sisters: Mary Louise Ruth and Ruby Ellen Ruth.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Amanda and Travis Whittington of Pine Ridge, Arkansas, and Tammy and David Porter of Caddo Gap, Arkansas; two brothers and sister-in-law: Gene and Wanda Ruth of De Queen; and Leonard Ruth of Horatio; four grandchildren: Dakota, Tabitha, Jonathan, and Brandon; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. David H. Ruth will be held at 10:00 a.m., July 25, 2003 in the Chapel Hill cemetery with Rev. Wesley Blankenship officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
Dewell L. Crowson
Dewell L. (Dude) Crowson, age 72, resident of Benton, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003 in Arkansas Heart Hospital at Little Rock.
He was born Jan. 24, 1931 to the late Richard R. and Dulcie E. Beard Crowson in Benton; and was retired from Army military service. He was predeceased by a daughter, Dulcie Elizabeth Hale; a granddaughter, Leeann Crowson; and step-granddaughter, Sara.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Crowson of Benton; four sons, Randy Crowson of Gage, Okla., Darrell Crowson and Johnny Crowson, both of Benton, and Bill Crowson of Hot Springs; three daughters, Vicky Clemmons of Washington, D.C., Sherry Pierce of Buckville, and Tina Brock of Malvern; one sister, Linda Blaylock of Tull; 20 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17 at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home.
Essie Pearl Yates
Mrs. Essie Pearl Yates, age 99, resident of Crossett, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003 at the Leisure Lodge Nursing Center in Crossett.
Graveside services were held at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14 in Center Point cemetery with Steven Crain, minister, officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home of De Queen.
She was born April 15, 1904 in Howard County; was a homemaker; and a member of the Church of Christ. She was predeceased by her parents, J.R. and Josie Jeanns Henderson; her husband, L.N. Yates Sr.; and three sons, L.N. Yates Jr., Robert Gerald Yates and Billy Mack Yates.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. B.J. Corbell of Henderson, Ky.; one son, Donald Ray Yates of Crossett; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Charles Martin Jr.
Charles Martin Jr., age 70, resident of Lockesburg, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003 at his home.
Cremation was under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.
He was born May 30, 1933; and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was predeceased by his wife, Lou Ann McFaul Martin in January, 2003.
Lori Jane O’Connor
Mrs. Lori Jane Lipsey O’Connor, age 33, resident of De Queen, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004 at her home.
She was born Sept. 2, 1970 at De Queen; was a member of First Assembly of God Church of De Queen; an employee of First State Bank of De Queen; and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Wesley Lipsey; and her grandparents, Robert Earl Goode, Jack Packnett, and Bess Lipsey.
She is survived by her husband, John O’Connor of De Queen; one son, Cal Michael O’Connor, and one daughter, Sammi Leigh O’Connor, both of the home; her parents, Judy and Gehri Packnett of De Queen; three brothers, Jeff Lipsey and Paul Lipsey, both of De Queen, and Scott Packnett of Bentonville; one sister, Debbie Bard of Texarkana; her paternal grandfather, Rev. Fred Lipsey of Horatio; her maternal grandmothers, Mary Jane Goode of De Queen and Allie Lee Packnett of Eagletown, Okla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004 in First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Steve Woods officiating. Burial followed in Old Center cemetery at Horatio, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.
Andrea Aide Zamora
Andrea Aide Sanchez Zamora, age 14, resident of Broken Bow, Okla., died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004 in Tulsa, Okla.
She was born June 8, 1990 in Panoco, Vera Cruz, Mexico to Isidoro and Olivia Zamora Sanchez; attended Broken Bow Junior High School; and was a member of Fuente De Agua Viva.
She is survived by her parents, Isidoro and Olivia Sanchez of Broken Bow, Okla.; two sisters, Candy Sanchez and Mariela Sanchez, both of the home; and one brother, Isidoro Sanchez, of the home.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9 at Broken Bow cemetery with Rene Martinez officiating, under the direction of Norwood-Coffey-Leonard Funeral Home of Broken Bow.
Edith Tierce Cannon
Mrs. Edith Tierce Jayroe Cannon, age 90, resident of De Queen and formerly of Sentinel, Okla., died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004 in Brookewood Nursing Center.
She was born Jan. 14, 1914 at Rocky, Okla. to Barb and Virgie Logan Tierce; was a member of First Baptist Church of Cordell, Okla., a retired employee of Rexall Drug Store in Sentinel, Okla., and a homemaker.
She is survived by one daughter, Sammie Borum of De Queen; one brother, Louis Tierce of Arlington, Tex.; one sister, Lucille Colson of El Cajon, Calif.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10 in Rocky cemetery, Sentinel, Okla., with Rev. R.B. Mathis officiating, under the direction of Jack Loftis Funeral Home of Sentinel, Okla. Local arrangements under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home of De Queen.
Kristi Kay Johnson
Kristi Kay Johnson, age 39, resident of Fayetteville, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004 at her home.
She was born Sept. 17, 1964 at Pecos, Tex., to Bill and Pat Collins; was a homemaker; and a member of Rolling Hills Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Jordan Johnson, and one daughter, Jaimisen Johnson, both of the home; her parents, Bill and Pat Collins of Fayetteville; two sisters, Beth Ann Neff of Neosho, Mo., and Julie Randolph of Fayetteville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9 at Moore’s Chapel Funeral Home.

Quentin Michael "Quen" Bonnette, age 26, resident of Breckenridge, Texas, died Thursday, July 29, 2004 near Decatur, Texas from injuries received in an oil rig accident.
He was born at Texarkana, Texas, on June 27, 1978. He was an employee of the Patterson Utility Oil Drilling Company.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Trudy and Stephen Stiers of Graham, Texas; his father and step-mother, Michael and Mona Bonnette of Prescott, Ark.; his brother and sister-in-law, Heath and Vikki Bonnette of Breckenridge, Texas; a niece, Zoee Bonnette; a nephew, Zade Bonnette; three step-brothers, Scot Stiers of De Queen; Stephan Haynes and Colton Phillips of Prescott, Ark.; one step-sister and brother-in-law, Wendy and Cameron McCain of Fayetteville, Ark.; his grandparents, Dick and Shirley Green of Breckenridge, Texas; Carroll and Shirley Bonnette of Nacogdoches, Texas; aunts and uncles, Sherry and Wade Wilson of Center Point, Ark., Troy and Cyndi Green of Monroe, La., Rick and Trudy Bonnette of Alaska, Tommy Bonnette of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Clarence Shilling.

Marsha Ann Jones
Mrs. Marsha Ann Pippin Jones, age 54, resident of Gillham, died Friday, March 19, 2004 in Christus St. Michael Hospital at Texarkana.
She was born Oct. 15, 1949 at Texarkana; was a member of First Nazarene Church of Texarkana and an avid worker in the First Baptist Church of Gillham; and a former employee of Alamo Title Company in Pasadena, Tex.
She is survived by her husband, David Gerald Jones of Gillham; one son, James Lee Durrett of Deer Park, Tex.; her mother and stepfather, Wanda and Robert Sartwelle of Gillham; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 21 in Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob McManus officiating. Burial followed in Valley cemetery.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 20 at the funeral home.
James Donald Carter
James Donald Carter, age 72, resident of Dierks, died Monday, March 22, 2004 in Dierks Nursing Center.
He was born Aug. 23, 1931 in Umpire; was a truck driver; and served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Snow Bissell Carter; and one sister, Billie Jean Baker.
He is survived by two sons, Glen Carter of Hornbeck, La., and Shane Carter of New Hope; one daughter, Annette Osborn of Dierks; one sister, Ruth Goss of De Queen; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 24 in Burg cemetery near Umpire with James McRae, minister, officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 23 at the funeral home in Dierks.
