Dewell L. Crowson

Dewell L. (Dude) Crowson, age 72, resident of Benton, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003 in Arkansas Heart Hospital at Little Rock.

He was born Jan. 24, 1931 to the late Richard R. and Dulcie E. Beard Crowson in Benton; and was retired from Army military service. He was predeceased by a daughter, Dulcie Elizabeth Hale; a granddaughter, Leeann Crowson; and step-granddaughter, Sara.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Crowson of Benton; four sons, Randy Crowson of Gage, Okla., Darrell Crowson and Johnny Crowson, both of Benton, and Bill Crowson of Hot Springs; three daughters, Vicky Clemmons of Washington, D.C., Sherry Pierce of Buckville, and Tina Brock of Malvern; one sister, Linda Blaylock of Tull; 20 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17 at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home.

Glenn Allen Cannon

Glenn Allen Cannon, age 38, resident of Kansas, Okla., died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003 at his home.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14 in Old Union cemetery with Rev. John Henry Williams officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home of De Queen.

He was born April 22, 1965 in Texarkana, Tex.; and was a welder. He was predeceased by his parents, Clermon and Pearlie McIntye Cannon.

He is survived by his wife, Vinna Adcock Cannon of Kansas, Okla.; three daughters, Karmen Bayless of Jefferson, Tex., Cathlina Cannon and Kassie Cannon, both of Kansas; two brothers, David Cannon of Texarkana, Tex., and Leonard Cannon of Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Judy Ray of Hooks, Tex.; one granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will be 2721 Hazel Street in Texarkana, Tex.

May Beth Cornish

Mrs. May Beth Hudson Cornish, age 88, resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at her home.

She was born to Rufus Kelly and Emily Brunetta Graves Hudson at De Queen, Arkansas, on October 7, 1914. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, was a member of the Woodmen of the World, AARP, and the American Legion. She was a retired nurses aide, and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Clovis Dale Hudson; Floyd Marvin Hudson; and John Reaves Hudson; a sister: Mary Ellen Hudson; two great-granddaughters: Lauren Grace and Jessica Nichole; and her husband, Van Cornish.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Bill and Mary Helen Cornish of Fairview, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law: Emma Sue and Lloyd "Benny" Benedict of Fairfield, Texas; and Becky and Jerry McDonald of De Queen; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Beth Cornish were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 28, 2003 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Fish officiating. Burial followed in the Redmen cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home. The family received friends at Chandler Funeral Home, Thursday, February 27, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

William Smith

Mr. William Henry Smith, age 80, a resident of De Queen, died Friday, October 10, 2003 at his home.

He was born Monday, January 8, 1923 in Kullituklo, Oklahoma. He was retired from Weyerhaeuser, a U.S. Coast Guard and Navy Veteran of World War II and a member of the First Baptist Church in De Queen.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents: John Lewis and Inez Seay Smith.

He is survived by his wife: Wanda Lee Vickers Smith of De Queen; his children: John Douglas Smith of De Queen, Robert Keith Smith of Van Buren, Arkansas, Sharon Smith Miesner of Ft. Smith, and Phil Stacy Smith of Gentry, Arkansas; his grandchildren: Mathew Smith of Germany, Justin Smith of De Queen, Shannon Sandage of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, William Smith and Derek Smith, both of Gentry, Arkansas; his great-grandchildren: Amanda Smith and Tya Smith, both of Germany; one sister: Jerry Ann Morris of De Queen; his stepmother: Effie Smith of De Queen; and a number of nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services of Mr. Smith were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2003 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Keith Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Chapel Hill cemetery.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, October 13 at the funeral home.

Henry Youngblood

Henry Howard Youngblood, age 72, resident of De Queen and formerly of Grannis, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003 in Sevier Health Care, De Queen.

Graveside funeral services will be 10 a.m., Sat., Feb. 22, 2003 in the Grannis cemetery with Rev. Steve Woods officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

He was born Aug. 30, 1929 to George Mitchell and Martha Marie Greer Youngblood at Grannis. He was a retired farmer and a Baptist.

He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers; Troy Youngblood and Harold Youngblood and a sister, Martha Butler.

He is survived by one brother, George Youngblood of De Queen; four sisters, Helen Youngblood, Merle Young and Elsie Jones all of De Queen, and Floye Lebow of Ashdown; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Robert Lee Roberts

Robert Lee Roberts, age 70, resident of De Queen, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004 in Mena Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 25, 1933 at Clinton, Okla.; was a truck driver; a Navy veteran; and a Presbyterian. He was predeceased by his wife, Jane Lavelle Roberts; his parents, Harley Clee Roberts and Dovie Roberts; and a sister, Helen Luise Roberts.

He is survived by a son, Norman Lee Roberts of Lockesburg; three daughters, Debra Trusley of De Queen, Diane Sims of Lockesburg, and Darla Lanicek of New Hope; a brother, Boyd Roberts of Lockesburg; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22 in McHorse cemetery at Provo with Rev. Wallace Wooten officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

David Smith McAnally

Mr. David Smith McAnally, age 98, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, died Monday, February 23, 2004 in the Brookewood Nursing Center, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born on April 5, 1905 in Rising Star, Texas to Alphonso and May McAnally. He was treasurer and assistant vice-president of the D&E; - TO&E; Railroads, a charter member of the De Queen Lions Club, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of De Queen, where he was a member of the Crusader class.

He is survived by his wife, Valeria Lowrey McAnally of De Queen; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Bob Harrell of West Monroe, Louisiana; a granddaughter, Lisa Salter and husband, Chris; a grandson, Robert Harrell and wife, Kelly; great-granddaughters, Kelsey Harrell, Cameron Salter and Larkin Salter; a great grandson, Reed Harrell; a brother-in-law, Verneil Lowrey and wife, Lillian; a sister-in-law, Velma Dell Hansen; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. McAnally were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 26, 2004 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Fish officiating. Burial followed in the Redmen cemetery.

Agnes Leah Jones

Mrs. Agnes Leah Sherman Jones, age 91, resident of Dierks, died Monday, March 1, 2004 in Dierks Nursing Center.

She was born Saturday, July 27, 1912 at Albert Pike; was a homemaker; and a member of Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Dierks. She was predeceased by her husband, Harrison C. Jones on July 22, 1981; her parents, Sam and Fannie Faulkner Sherman; and one daughter, Joyce Peterson.

She is survived by one son, Sherman Jones of Dierks; two daughters, Martha Dowdy of Nashville and Lynn Vaught of Dierks; one sister, Nadine Turner of Dierks; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 4 in Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Revs. Larry Albritton, Garry Wiles and Mack Chambers officiating. Burial followed in McHorse cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

The family received friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 3 at the funeral home in Dierks.

Dr. T. L. Pike

Tommy Lee Pike, DVM, age 83, resident of Little River Club, Arkansas, died Friday, March 12, 2004 at his home.

He was the youngest son born to Daniel L. and Elizabeth M. Schneider Pike. He was born at Timpas, Colo., on November 21, 1920. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree at Colorado State University at Ft. Collins, Colo. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Vet Corps.; was a member of the First Christian Church of El Reno, Okla., and attended the Horatio Church of Christ.

Dr. Pike was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert L. Pike in 1996; his wife, Lois Hall Pike in 1978; his wife Maxine Pike in 1983; and his wife, Nadine Pike in 2000.

He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel L. and Chandler Pike of Macon, Ga.; Charles D. and Cynthia Pike of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; and Henry J. and Frances Pike of Horatio, Ark.; a step-son: Charles, and his wife, Janice Burris of Shreveport, La.; a step-daughter and husband, Donna and Ronnie Walker of Clinton, Tenn.; nine grandchildren: Julia Bradford Pike of Philadelphia, Pa.; Daniel R. Pike of Athens, Ga.; Jennifer D. Campbell of Richmond, Va.; Suzy Q. Pike of Columbia, SC; Todd A. Pike of US Navy, Guam; Tommy J. Pike and Elizabeth Ann Pike both of Horatio, Ark.; and Gwen Chandler and Brandon Burris both of Shreveport, La.

Family received friends at Chandler Funeral Home from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m., Saturday, March 13, 2004.

Memorial services were held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, March 14, 2004 in the Horatio Church of Christ with Frank Plemmons officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.

George Edward Reed

George Edward Reed, age 77, resident of Arden, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004 in a Texarkana hospital.

He was born June 26, 1926 at Foreman; was a retired employee of the Arkansas Highway Department; and a member of Foreman Assembly of God Church.

He is survived by his wife, Rosie Miller Reed; two sons, Eddie Reed and Frank Reed Sr., both of Ashdown; one daughter, Anita Turner of Virginia; one brother, Henry Flood of Ashdown; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26 in Foreman First Assembly of God Church. Burial followed in the Arden cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25 at the funeral home in De Queen.
