Ruby Morphew

Ruby Morphew, 90, of Nashville, AR, died Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at a Nashville nursing home. She was born March 14, 1917, in Ben Lomond, AR, the daughter of the late Walter and Leona Fatherree.
She was a member of Chapel Hill Church of Christ. She enjoyed working, gardening, quilting, visiting with grandkids and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Velton Morphew.
She is survived by one son, Arlis Morphew of Nashville, AR, one very special family friend, Betty Tollett of Nashville, AR; four grandchildren, Tim Morphew of Springdale, AR, Kenny Morphew of Nashville, AR, Kellie Keating of Blooming Grove, TX, and Kim Bumgarner of Murfreesboro, AR; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and a host of friends.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Sunday, March 2, at Latimer Funeral Home Chapel, burial in County Line cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Saturday, March 1, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M.
Vernon Hodges

Vernon Hodges, 86, of Hope, died Tuesday, November 13, in a Hot Springs hospital. He was born November 23, 1920, in Daisy, AR, the son of the late Peter and Arizona Hodges.
He was a retired carpenter and served in the Army in World War II. He was raised in Daisy, AR.
Mr. Hodges was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Faye Hodges of Hope, AR; one daughter, Pat Thrash and husband, Larry M., of Venus, Texas; two grandsons, Michael Thrash of Venus, TX and Larry Wayne Thrash of Venus, TX and eight great grandchildren, Kristina, Brittney, Ryan, Brody, Michael, Britney Thrash, and Courtney and Nathan Cox and one great-great granddaughter.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 17, at Delight cemetery, with Larry Brown officiating, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Nashville.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Friday, November 16, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
Josephine Risner

Josephine Winona Risner, 71, of Murfreesboro, died Sunday, November 11, 2007, at a Murfreesboro nursing home. She was born February 10, 1936, in Rural Town, Kansas, the daughter of the late William McKinley and Georgiana Cross Antell.
She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Eastern Star.
She was a retired clerk for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Mrs. Risner is survived by her husband, Idus Risner of Murfreesboro, AR; one brother, Merle Antell of Florida; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 15, at First Christian Church, Murfreesboro, with Bros. Mike Rathbone and Ralph Posey officiating, burial in Kelley cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Murfreesboro.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday, November 15, from 5:00 – 9:00 P.M.
James Dean Townes

James Dean Townes, 31, of Nashville, died Wednesday, November 7, 2007 in an automobile accident. He was born May 1, 1976, at Texarkana, Texas, the son of Marvin Dales and Willie Townes.
He was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church. He was employed by Southern Pine Trus Company.
Mr. Townes was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Horace Townes.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Townes of Nashville, AR; two sons, Brayden Townes of Nashville, AR and Grayson Townes of Nashville, AR; one daughter, Vanessa Townes of Texarkana, TX; his father, Marvin Townes of Texarkana, AR; one brother, Michael Townes of Mount Olive, MS; grandmother, Lona Townes of Texarkana, TX; and a host of friends.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Saturday, at Old Washington cemetery, with Bro. Phil Holder officiating, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Nashville.

Doris Pope, 89, of Texarkana, formerly of Nashville, died Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at a Texarkana nursing home. She was born August 2, 1918, in Stuttgart, AR.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was active in many social and civic organizations. For a number of years she was employed by the government in the selective service. She enjoyed her involvement in the local bridge club.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Thomas H. Pope, Jr. and her son, Tommy Pope.
Mrs. Pope is survived by one daughter-in-law, Debbie Pope of Nashville, AR; two grandchildren, Brian Pope of Nashville, AR and Steve Pope of Benton, AR; and a host of friends.
Graveside Services are scheduled for 10:30 A.M., Friday, November 9, at Nashville cemetery, with Rev. Russell Hull officiating, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Nashville.

Rachel Lloyd, age 88, of Nashville, died Monday, November 6, 2007 in Nashville. She was born on May 13, 1919 in Langley, Arkansas, the daughter of Elmer and Lela (Linville) Hartness. She was a housewife.
In addition to her parents and husband, John P., she was preceded in death by one brother, Clifton Hartness and one sister, Annis Hartness.
Survivors include: one sister, Merle Morphew of New Hope, Arkansas, several nieces and nephewsand a host of friends.
Graveside services will be on Friday, November 9, 2007 in Hall cemetery in Langley, Arkansas under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Nashville.

Maxine H. Duckett, 80, of Texarkana, died Monday, November 5, 2007, at a Texarkana hospital. She was born March 5, 1927, in Horatio, AR, the daughter of the late Wesley Lee and Margie Kelly Brooks Hinson.
She was a homemaker; a member of Central Baptist Church.
Mrs. Duckett was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus C. Duckett.
She is survived by one son, Tommy Longnecker of Texarkana, AR; two daughters, Martha Gautney of Nashville, AR and Anita Bickham of Texarkana, AR; her twin sister, Myrldeen McNeese of Borger, TX and sister, Miriam LaBlanc of Shreveport, LA; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The family will meet at the home of Leland and Martha Gautney, 177 Ramsey Hill Rd., Nashville, AR.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 8, at Latimer Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. David Blasé officiating, burial in County Line cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Nashville.
James Ponder Smith

James Ponder Smith, age 67, of Nashville, died Monday, November 5, 2007 in Hot Springs. He was born on September 4, 1940 in Nashville, Arkansas, the son of James Oliver and Fern (Ponder) Smith.
He was a clerk in retail, and member of the National Guard.
Survivors include: one son, Greg Arens of Los Angeles, California; one daughter, Christine Annette Kutnick of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren; and a host of friends.
Memorial services were held on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at Latimer Funeral Home Chapel in Nashville with Jerry Smith officiating.
