Max Womack

Max Hayes Womack, 79, of Hot Springs passed away on Sunday, August 16.
The youngest of seven brothers, Max was born on March 16, l930 in Murfreesboro, Arkansas to Granville and Octavia Womack. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Max graduated from Murfreesboro High School and served in the U. S. Navy. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Henderson State University in l959. He retired from the Social Security Administration having served in several locations before retiring in Hot Springs.
Max was preceded in death by his parents; one step-sister, Lois Stamps; and five brothers, Hollis, Clark, Ray, Hugh and Paul.
Survivors include one brother, Roland Womack of Hot Springs, one sister-in-law, Jean Womack of Texarkana, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at the Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro on Tuesday, August 18th from 6:00-8:00 PM.
The service will be Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the Pleasant Home Church of Christ in Murfreesboro with Bro. Wallace Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Home cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Murfreesboro.
Pallbearers will be nephews: Ron Statzer, Fred Hughes, Kenny Womack, Steve Womack, Larry Stewart and John Wesson.
Mary Legate

Mary Legate, 65, of Murfreesboro, AR. Died Saturday, August 15, 2009 in a Nashville hospital. She was born March 14, 1944 in Big Fork, AR, the daughter of the late Robert Homer and Mary Edwards Legate.
She was a Baptist and a homemaker.
Mrs. Legate was preceded in death by her brother James Dalton Legate Sr; One sister Georgia Juanita Smith; and one cousin Elbert Wilson.
Survivors include her husband Edward Preston Kelley of Murfreesboro, AR; two daughters Sonia Kelley of Murfreesboro, AR; and Shelly Hansen of Murfreesboro, AR; and one grandchild Keaton Kelley of Murfreesboro, AR.
Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Pleasant Grove cemetery in Mena, AR, with Rev. James Robbins and Betty Pate officiating, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home, Murfreesboro.
Visitation will be 4:00 P.M., Monday August 17, at Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.

Dora Belcher
Mrs. Dora Jean Pritchett Belcher, age 29, a resident of Gillham, AR, died Saturday, April 17, 2004 in the Christus St. Michael Healthcare Center, Texarkana, Texas.
She was born July 12, 1974 in Turlock, California. She was a homemaker and a member of the Geneva Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Belcher is survived by her husband, Kevin of Gillham: one daughter, Bethany; her mother, Jean Browning of Broken Bow, OK, her father, Earl Pritchett of De Queen; her grandparents, Leroy and Jerry Browning of California.
Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 21, 2004 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Neal officiating. Burial followed in the Overturf cemetery.
The family received friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, at the funeral home.
James Kay Penney
James Kay Penney, age 61, resident of Lockesburg, died Friday, April 16, 2004 at his home.
He was born Jan. 6, 1943 at De Queen to David Runyan and Tommye Spigner Penney; was a retired mill room supervisor for Cooper Tire Company with 35 years service; and was a member of Ben Lomond Church of Christ where he served as a Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent. He was predeceased by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Cookie Griffin Penney of Lockesburg; three sons, James Donald Penney of Corinth, Tex., Steven Wayne Penney of McKinney, Tex., and John Robert Penney of Lockesburg; one brother, Thomas David Penney of Arlington, Tex.; one sister, Kathy Samson of Lockesburg; three grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 19 in Falls Chapel cemetery with Cy Davis, minister, officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
Christine Long
Christine Penney Long, age 82, or Orange, Tex., died Monday, March 15, 2004 in Home Sweet Home Private Care Center.
She was a former resident of De Queen; a homemaker; and a member of First Christian Church in Orange. She was predeceased by her husband, Clell Victor Long in 1996.
She is survived by two sons, Victor Long of Orange, Tex., Phillip Long of Tulsa, Okla.; daughter, Leah Johansson Beckcom of Bridge City, Tex.; a brothers, Millard T. "Mann" Penney Jr. of Lee Summit, Mo.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 18 in Claybar Funeral home Chapel in Orange with Dr. Tim Griffin officiating. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation began at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 17 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Keown Hall fund at First Christian Church in Orange.
Robert Bishop Martin
Robert Bishop Martin, 85, formerly of De Queen, died Friday, April 16, 2004, at his home in Berino, New Mexico.
Mr. Martin was born October 5, 1918 in New Hope, Arkansas. He retired from civil service at Holloman AFB, had served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of West Side Baptist Church in El Paso.
Survivors include his wife, Esther Martin of the family home; four daughters, Barbara Jo Bowering and her husband, Norman, of Carlsbad, Jerri Barnard and her husband, Roland, of Portales, Linda Montogomery of Alamogordo, and Elizabeth Marquez of Berino; four sons, Roy Andrew Martin and his wife, Darlene, of Ruidoso Downs, Randall Bishop Martin of Alamogordo, Earnest Andrew Martin of Berino, and Leslie Leon Martin and his wife, Charlee, of Dallas; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, A.J. Martin of Tacoma, Washington; and a sister, Nobie Wilson and her husband, Warren, of Tyler, Texas.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Bobbi Wilson; a son, John Robert Martin; his mother, Josie Cornish; and two brothers, Odell and Arvis Martin.
Funeral services were conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in the Hamilton-O'Dell Chapel Alamagordo, NM with Pastor Carl Chitwood officiating.
Pallbearers were Roy Martin, Randall Martin, Earnest Martin, Roland Barnard, Norman Bowering and Dennis Garcia.
Kenneth Ferguson
Kenneth Ray Ferguson, age 71, died in Vancouver, Wash. He was born in Wickes, Ark. on September 23, 1932.
He was the owner of a construction company in Vancouver.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Fannie Ferguson, two brothers, Vernon and Bill Ferguson.
He is survived by three sisters, Bobbie Rivers of Detroit, Texas, Barbara Shelby of Paris, Texas, and Velma Jacobs of Amelia Island, Florida.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Sat., March 20 at Valley cemetery with Rev. Thomas Johnson officiating.
Allen Leroy Cannon
Allen Leroy Cannon, age 69, resident of Camp, died Saturday, March 13, 2004 at his home.
He was born Aug. 21, 1934 in De Queen to the late Roy and Della Mae Price Cannon; was united in marriage to Reiko Furukawa on March 6, 1956 in Fukuoka, Japan; retired as a CPO from the United States Navy serving in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War; and later worked for Exxon in building maintenance. He was an assistant fire chief and member of the Camp Fire Department.
He is survived by one son, Michael Lee Cannon of Anaheim, Calif.; two daughters, Rhonda Lynne Cannon of Garden Grove, Calif., and Brenda Lynne Cannon of Hawthorne, Calif.; and his sister, Faye Moss of De Queen.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 20 in Barker Funeral Home Chapel at Salem with Bro. John Hodges officiating. He was buried at sea.
