Lawson Eugene Rodgers
Lawson Eugene Rodgers, age 81, resident of Texarkana, Tex., died Sunday, July 11, 2004 in a Texarkana hospital.
He was born July 16, 1922 in Sevier County; was retired from Day & Zimmermann Inc. where he was an electrician; was a member of Westside Church of Christ; Border Masonic Lodge #672; a Scottish Rite Mason; I.B.E.W. Local Union #301; and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the European Theater. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Bales in 1989.
He is survived by his wife, Oleita Raley Rodgers of Texarkana, Tex.; one son, John Rodgers of Texarkana, Tex.; one daughter, Pricilla Merriman of Sulphur Springs, Tex.; three grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 14 in Chapelwood Funeral Home Chapel with Steve McIntosh officiating. Burial with military honors followed in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens.

Charles Prather
Charles Marion Prather, age 93, a resident of Dierks, Ark., died Saturday, July 17, 2004, in the Dierks Nursing Center.
He was born November 27, 1910 in Hastings, Okla., to William Theodore and Gertrude Irene Beck Prather. He was a plumber and builder, a charter member of A.A.R.P. Chapter 5329, and a member of the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife: Edna Simpson Prather, two brothers and a step-daughter.
He is survived by his wife: Wilda Prather of Dierks; two step-sons, Mitch Lankford of Mena, Ark. and Mike Lankford of Mesquite, Texas; one sister, Hazel Mounts of Marshall, Texas; five step-grandchildren, three nieces, and a number of great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 20 in the Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Dierks with Rev. Larry Albritton officiating. Burial followed in the Dierks cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, July 19 at the funeral home in Dierks.
Marjorie Marcell Wester
Mrs. Marjorie Marcell Smith Wester, age 77, resident of De Queen, died Monday, July 26, 2004 in Christus St. Michael Healthcare in Texarkana.
She was born Dec. 10, 1926 in Valliant, Okla.; was a waitress; a seamstress; and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Myrtle Cole Smith; her husband, Kirby T. Wester; and a number of brothers and sisters.
She is survived by one son, Terry C. Wester of Flora Vista, NM; two daughters, Carol Ross and Stella Pitts, both of Horatio; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 29 in Shady Grove cemetery with Rev. J.L. Walker officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
The family will be at the home of Teresa Robinson and Bobby Sirmon, 306 Barnhart Street, Horatio.
Alma Krudwig
Mrs. Alma (Cantlon) Fears Krudwig, age 101 years, 11 months and 9 days, a lifetime resident of De Queen, died Thursday, July 8, 2004 in Nacogdoches, Texas.
She was born July 29, 1902 in De Queen to Arthur Fletcher and Belle (Sanders) Cantlon. She received her Teacher's Certificate in 1922 in De Queen where she taught school and then became a homemaker. She was a Johovah's Witness. Alma moved to Nacogdoches, July 19, 2002, to be closer to her family.
Mrs. Krudwig was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, B. G. Fears and Ernest John Krudwig; one brother, Floyd Cantlon; three sisters, Mrs. Reginald Harrison, Mrs. Edwin Stiles, and Mrs. Carl Godwin; and one grandson, William Wade Green, Jr.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Blanche (Krudwig) Green of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Marc Green and wife, Tona, of Nacogdoches, Texas, Richard Green of Houston, Texas, and Rebecca Rodano of Tomball, Texas; and many loved ones and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 17, in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness with Jerry Brazeal officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home .
The family received friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 11 at the funeral home.
Lillie “Pat” E. Jones
Lillie “Pat” E. Jones, age 78, resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004 in Christus St. Michael Healthcare Center in Texarkana.
She was born Sunday, Feb. 28, 1926 in Blackwell, Tex.; was a homemaker; and attended First Pentecostal Church of God in De Queen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Elizabeth Doggett McKaug-han; her husband, Harmon W. Jones Sr. on July 8, 1982; and one son, Harmon W. Jones Jr.
She is survived by one son, Ronnie Jones of De Queen; two daughters, Theresa McGaha of Horatio and Loretta Swan of Tyler, Tex.; one sister, Thanie Madewell of Eloy, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grand-children; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 16 in First Pentecostal Church of God in De Queen with Rev. John Seward officiating. Burial will follow in Old Center cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Virgie Inez Capps
Mrs. Virgie Inez Stapp Bryant Capps, age 79, resident of Dierks, died Monday, July 26, 2004 in Wadley Regional Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 3, 1925 in New Hope to William and Gertrude Fox Stapp; was a homemaker; a musician; and a member of Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Bryant; her brothers and sisters, Willa Mae Propps, David Stapp, Cortez Stapp and Gee Stapp.
She is survived by her husband, Haschel L. Capps; one son, Gary Bryant of West Monroe, La.; two brothers, Bob Stapp and Doodle Stapp, both of Dierks; six step-children, Bessie Elizabeth Staley of Bedford, Ky., Haschel Lavelle Capps Jr. of Smith Mt. Lake, Va., Clarence Edward Capps Sr. of England, Hazel Lynda Chapman of Lake Hinkle, Margaret Joyce Tipton of Star City, and Roy Leslie Capps of Rosston; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 28 in Holly Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Gary Bryant and Rev. Larry Allbritton officiating. Burial followed in Fellowship cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.

Mary Grace Turbyfill
Mrs. Mary Grace Wright Clowers Turbyfill, age 84, resident of Cross Roads, died Sunday, July 25, 2004 in Ashdown.
She was born Jan. 5, 1920 in the King Ryder Community in Little River Country; was a retired teacher’s aid for Foreman Elementary School; and a member of King Ryder Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Boss “Goob” and Pearl Davis Wright; her husbands, E.W. “Skeet” Clowers and Aldine Turbyfill; and one son, Harless Wayne “Dobbin” Clowers.
She is survived by one son, Tony Clowers of Texarkana, Tex.; one brother, Donald Wright of Ash-down; one sisters, Ophelia Shillings of Foreman; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 28 in King Ryder Church of Christ in Cross Roads with James McRae, minister, and Clyde Wright officiating. Burial followed in Green cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home, De Queen.
Mary Lee Waters
Mary Lee Christian Waters, age 89, died November 28, 2003 in Glendale, Ariz.
She was born Aug. 23, 1914 in Lockesburg to Joseph Hillery and May Tollett Christian; was a hairdresser; and worked and owned salons in California, Arizona and Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Waters; nine brothers, Will, Hillery, John, Mack, Fletcher, Hercel, Herman, Custer and Roy Christian; and one sister, Snow Holman.
She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Petrone; a sister, Madge Revels; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2004 in Odd Fellows cemetery with John Henry Williams officiating.
Pauline Edwards
Pauline Ruby Drawbaugh Edwards, age 84, resident of Foreman, died Sunday, July 18, 2004 in the Christus St. Michael Healthcare Center in Texarkana.
She was born December 15, 1919 in Winthrop, Arkansas, to Edgar and Delora Stanley Drawbaugh. She was a former employee of the Crawford Grocery and Jiffy Mart in Foreman
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, James Dennis Edwards on November 29, 1985 and one son Wyman Dennis Edwards on November 2, 1990.
She is survived by one son, Stanley Young of Foreman; two daughters, Sue Talley of Foreman and Vedith White of Tatum, Tex.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Edwards were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 21, 2004 in the First Baptist Church in Foreman with Rev. Duaine Blackmore officiating. Burial followed in the Campground cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 21 at the First Baptist Church in Foreman.
The family will be at 306 South Bell Street in Foreman.
