Billy Wayne Pearson

Billy Wayne "Pete" Pearson, age 57, resident of Ben Lomond, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003 in Little River Memorial Hospital at Ashdown.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3 in Gospel Jubilee Church with Rev. Clayton Crow and Rev. Audie Dawson officiating. Burial followed in Ben Lomond cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home of De Queen.

He was born on June 25, 1945 in Minden, La., to Ben Matlock and Minnie Gray Pearson; was a welder and millwright for Domtar; a veteran of the U.S. Army; and a member of Gospel Jubilee Church.

He is survived by his wife, Leann Coleman Pearson of Ben Lomond; two sons, Craig Pearson of Provo and Scott Pearson of Ben Lomond; one daughter, Ashley Pearson of Ben Lomond; two brothers, Larry Pearson of Ashdown and Ben Douglas Pearson of Texarkana; three sisters, Mary Sue Miller, Betty Shaw and Margaret Osbon, all of Minden, La.; six grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Martha Shurley

Mrs. Martha Price Rodgers Shurley, aged 78, resident of Foreman, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999 at her home.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen with Van Ledbetter, minister, officiating. Cremation will be in Little Rock.

She was born Dec. 25, 1920 at Foreman; and was a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, Donald J. Roton of Carrollton, Tex., Larry Waymon Rodgers and Michael Douglas Rodgers, both of Texarkana; one step-son, Edgar Wayman Rodgers of Garvin, Okla.; two sisters, Fern Free of Foreman and Faye Burnett of Perryton, Tex.; 14 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.

Elmer Clifton Oglesby

Elmer Clifton Oglesby, aged 78, resident of King Ryder Community near Cross Roads, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999 in Christus St. Michael Health Care Center in Texarkana.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 in King Ryder Church of Christ with James McRae, minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Piney cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home of De Queen.

He was born July 17, 1921 in Arkinda; was a retired rancher and grocer; an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of King Ryder Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Smith Oglesby; one son, Darrel Oglesby of King Ryder Community; two daughters, Anita Baker, King Ryder Community, and Beatrice Reed, Foreman; three brothers, Euel Oglesby, Haworth, Okla., Harold Oglesby, Hatfield, and Harless Oglesby, Texarkana; two sisters, Nellie Vaughn, Idabel, Okla., and Norma Franklin, Hot Springs Village; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Joseph Newberg

Joseph Newberg, aged 76, resident of Lexington, Ky., and formerly of De Queen, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999 in Mayfair Manor Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington, Ky. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens in Jessamine County, Ky.

A native of Oklahoma City, Okla., he was the son of the late Albert and Helen Gensterblum Newberg; a U.S. navy veteran of World War II; owner and operator of The Book Exchange; and a retire Veterans Administration Medical Center maintenance foreman, he was a member of the Scottish Rite and a 32nd degree Mason. He was preceded in death by a son, Roger Lynn Newberg.

He is survived by his wife, Elna Newberg; four sons, Joseph Anthony Newberg of Frankfort, Ky., Daniel Kevin Newberg, Kenneth James Newberg and Mark Stephen Newberg, all of Lexington, Ky.; and six grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Memorial may be made to the Lexington Humane Society, 1600 Old Frankfort Pike, Lexington, KY 40504.

Torrence H. Bogart

Torrence H. Bogart, aged 87, resident of De Queen, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999 in Brooke-wood Nursing Center.

Private graveside services were held Monday in Chapel Hill cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

He was born July 7, 1912 in Town Hill, Penn.; was a master sergeant during World War II; a member of the V.F.W. and D.A.V.; and a carpenter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Bogart.

He is survived by three brothers, four sisters, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Paul E. Young

Paul E. Young, aged 69, resident of Daisy, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4 in Daisy Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Jewell and Rev. Raymond Dees officiating. Burial followed in Old Liberty cemetery at Newhope under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home of Glenwood.

He was born June 10, 1930 in Geneva, Ind., the son of Oakus Young and Pearl Murphy Young. He was retired from General Motors in Marion, Ind.; was a member of Daisy Freewill Baptist Church where he served as Sunday school superintendent; and was a member of the Pike Count Equalization Board and the Daisy City Council. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob Young and Edward Young.

He is survived by his wife, Velron Young of Daisy; three sons, Dennis Young and John Young, both of Newhope, and Jeffrey Young of Gas City, Ind.; two daughters, Marta Tabor of Peru, Ind., and Carol Scott of Rigdon, Ind.; three step-sons, Ricky Hunter, Ronnie Hunter and Randy Hunter, all of Newhope; one brother, Jerry Young of Bryant, Ind.; three sisters, Betty Poling of Portland, Ind., Jean Geeseman of Bryant, Ind., and Lavada Zeek of Indiana; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Kenneth C. Brakeville

Kenneth C. Brakeville, aged 73, resident of Odessa, Tex., died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999 at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1 in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Troy Stevenson officiating under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

He was born Sept. 18, 1926 in De Queen; was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II; worked for Sid Richardson Plant for 21 years; retired from Carr Well Service in 1987; and was a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife, Kathlyn Reed Brakeville of Odessa, Tex.; two sons, Kenneth R. Brakeville and Jerry Brakeville, both of Odessa, Tex.; two brothers, Charles Brakeville of Benton, La., and Bobby Don Brakeville of De Queen; one granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Andras Gallogos

Andras Gonzalez Gallogos, aged 83, died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6 at Fuente De Agua Viva Church at Nashville with Enrique Ronriguez officiating. Burial will follow in Delight cemetery under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Nashville.

He was born Feb. 4, 1916 in Xilitla, S.L.P., Mexico, the son of the late Leandro Gonzalez and Luisa Gallegos. He was a self-employed farmer and a Pentecost.

He is survived by his wife, Marceliria Gonzalez of Delight; five sons, Luis Gonzalez of Delight, Apolinar Gonzalez of Norman, Refujio Gonzalez of McCaskill, Erasto Gonzalez of Delight, and Senobio Gonzalez of Delight; three daughters, Romana Gonzalez of Poxtla, S.L.P., Mexico, Teresa Gonzalez of Monterey, Neuvo Leon, Mexico, and Isidra Gonzalez of Delight; and a number of grandchildren and great-grand-children.
