Walter G. Stewart Jr.
Walter Gordon Stewart Jr., age 63, resident of Lake Dallas, Tex., died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004 in Dallas.
He was born July 23, 1941 in Arkinda to Walter Gordon and Dora Lena Dollarhide Stewart; was a Park and Recreation supervisor for the City of Dallas; and a U.S. Army veteran having served in Vietnam. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, George Stewart.
He is survived by two brothers, Gene Stewart of Cedar Creek, Tex., and Leroy Stewart of De Queen; and one sister, Dorothy Sandifer of El Dorado.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10 in Pauley cemetery in Winthrop with Rev. J.L. Walker officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home of De Queen.
Miranda Kay Nicholson
Miranda Kay Nicholson, age 20, resident of Ashdown, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004.
She is survived by her mother, Charlene Nicholson of Ashdown; her father, James A. Simmons of Bridgeport, Tex.; her stepfather, Frank Daniel of Ashdown; a brother, Corey Nicholson of Ashdown; her grandparents, Carl and Frances Nicholson of Lockesburg.
Memorial services were held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18 in Kingdom Hall in Ashdown.
Milagros Hernandez
Milagros Hernandez, infant daughter of Juan Carlos and Inosencia Hernandez, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2004, in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Milagros was born Thursday, September 9, 2004, in Little Rock. She is survived by her parents; Juan Carlos and Inosencia Hernandez of Wickes; one brother, Carlos Hernandez of Wickes; one sister, Jennifer Hernandez of Wickes; paternal grandparents; Carlos and Joaquina Hernandez of Puebla, Mexico; maternal grandparents; Simeon and Juana Abarca of Wickes.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 15, 2004, at 4 p.m. at the San Juan Diego Catholic Church in Wickes with Father Norbert Rappold and Father John Kerr officiating. Interment will follow in the Grannis cemetery under the direction of the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home in Mena.
Don Buenos Sikes
Don Buenos Sikes, age 62, resident of Sherwood, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004 in Baptist Medical Center in North Little Rock.
He was born Wednesday, May 27, 1942 in Alleene to the late Buenos and Robbie Howard Sikes; was the former owner of a Ben Franklin variety store and has served as manager of several convenience stores in the Little Rock area; was a former member of De Queen Lions Club; a member of Lakewood First United Methodist Church in North Little Rock; and served in the U.S. Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Allums Sikes; one son, Kevin Sikes of Little Rock; one daughter, Melanie Brindley of Carmel, Ind.; one sister, Judy Stewman of De Queen; six grandchildren; and one niece.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Wilson officiating. Burial followed in Redmen cemetery.
Earl Watson Jr.
Earl Watson Jr., age 80, resident of Texarkana, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004 in a local hospital.
He was born Sept. 2, 1924 in Lewisville; was retired from Ragland Cigar Co.; a minister of New Zion Baptist Church of De Queen; a member of Fellowship Christian Center; and a veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Daniels.
He is survived by his wife, Idell Watson of Texarkana; two sons, Samuel Watson and Myron Matlock of Texarkana; two daughters, Wanda Robinson and Joyce Watson of Texarkana; a sister, Mary Davis of Texarkana; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Closed casket services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18 at Mount Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Marvin Warren officiating. Bur-ial followed in East Memorial Gardens under the direction of Lyles Funeral Home.
Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17 at the funeral home.
Viewing was from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Nancy Ruth Blacksher
Nancy Ruth Crowder Blacksher, age 78, resident of Longmont, Colo., died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004.
She was born Oct. 29, 1925 in De Queen; was an accountant for the state of California; and a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Elizabeth McKinney Crowder; four brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Norman Blacksher of Seattle, Wash., and Steve Blacksher of Longmont, Colo.; a daughter, Susan Gredvig of Pennsylvania; a sister, Elizabeth Matthews of California; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14 in First Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Bowermaster officiating. Cremation was under the direction of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
Betty Jean Williamson
Mrs. Betty Jean Hankins Williamson, age 72, resident of De Queen, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004 in Brookewood Nursing Center.
She was born Dec. 4, 1931 in De Queen to Ira and Lela French Hankins; was a poultry farmer; a homemaker; and a member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church of De Queen. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Terry Williamson; a granddaughter, Cindy Lynn Williamson; and her husband, Carl Williamson.
She is survived by two sons, Kevin Williamson and Steven Williamson, both of De Queen; three grandchildren; and one nephew.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1 in Chapel Hill cemetery with Rev. Joe Carlton officiating, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Cindy Lynn Williamson scholarship fund.
Arline Louise Icenhower
Mrs. Arline Louise Walker Icenhower, age 50, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004 in Wilton.
She was born Feb. 1, 1954 in Prineville, Ore., to Ottie and Betty Martin Walker; was a 1972 graduate of Ashdown High School; worked for the FBI; the Dallas County Sheriff’s Dept.; was the first woman Lieutenant for the Texarkana Texas Police Department; retired after 27 years of police work; and was currently captain of security for Vescom at Domtar Industries. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by a son, Michael Walker of Commerce, Tex.; a daughter, Brandy Owens of Wilton; two brothers, Paul Walker of Lockesburg and Keith Walker of Arden; two sisters, Brenda Durham and Kathy Vallee of Lockesburg; five grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18 in Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wesley Blankenship officiating. Cremation will follow.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Rena Frachiseur
Mrs. Rena Elizabeth Reid Frachiseur, age 77, a long time resident of Grannis, Arkansas, died Tuesday, September 28, 2004 in De Queen.
She was born to Eele Leroy and Imelda Gwendolyn Morgan Reid at Sanco, Texas, September 12, 1927. She was a member of the Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church, a member of the Eastern Star, was a retired U.S. postal clerk, and a homemaker. She enjoyed painting, sewing, gardening, cooking, and wood working.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Math Christopher Frachiseur in October, 1999; her parents; her brother, Leroy Franklin Reid in 1976; and her great-grandson, Daniel Shawn Frachiseur in 1993.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Elizabeth Frachiseur and Richard and Anetta Frachiseur, all of Grannis, Arkansas; five daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Jim Weston of Sidney, Arkansas, Gwen Lavender of Texarkana, Arkansas, Bonita and Walter Smith of De Queen, Roberta and Terry Youngblood of Watson, Oklahoma, and Jackie and Kenny Icenhower of Texarkana, Texas; one brother, Isaac Elroy Reid of Grannis; three sisters, Winnie Blackmon and Pauline Thomas both of Grannis, and Elaine Norvell of Robert Lee, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rena Frachiseur were held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, September 30, 2004 in the Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the Holly Grove Memorial cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen.
Charlene Farnsworth
Charlene Farnsworth, age 68, of Bonnerdale, died, Thursday, September 9, 2004.
She was born in Bonnerdale on November 14, 1935 the daughter of Henry L. Ewing and Edith Pannell Ewing. On August 21, 1955 she married
Glen Farnsworth. She was preceded in death by her father.
She was a member of the Chapel Valley Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was a graduate of John Brown University.
She is survived by her husband, Elder Glen Farnsworth of Bonnerdale; one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Shelly Farnsworth of De Queen; one daughter and son-in-law, Cyndi and Ed Higgins of Crossville, Tennessee; her mother, Edith Ewing of Bonnerdale; two grandchildren, Joshua and Maci Farnsworth of De Queen, and a host of friends.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September, 13, 2004 in the Bonnerdale Seventh Day Adventist Church with Elder Woody Larson and Elder Steve Orian officiating.
Interment was in the Bonnerdale Seventh Day Adventist cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
Visitation was Sunday evening from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
