Stephanie Alexander
Stephanie Merworth Alexander, age 34, resident of Eagletown, Okla., died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004.
She was born June 27, 1970 in De Queen to Steve and Judy Davidson Merworth; and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn June Grant; a great-niece, Kylie Edwards; and a paternal grandfather, Roy Lee Merworth.
She is survived by a son, Samuel Dakota Merworth of Eagletown, Okla.; a step-son, Nathan Wilson of Gillham; a daughter, Josie Merworth of Wickes; her parents, Steve and Judy Merworth of Eagletown, Okla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17 in Copley-White Funeral Home Chapel at Broken Bow, Okla.
Harvey Russell
Harvey Russell, age 71, resident of De Queen, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004 in the Mena Regional Medical Center.
He was born May 23, 1933 at Altus, Okla., to Wiley Bryant and Inez Ellen Earls Russell; was a retired manager of Sevier County co-op Service Station; a member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church where he taught Adult Sunday School; and recently attended the Men’s Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Mena. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Wiley Russell; and his wife, Betty Russell, in February, 2004.
He is survived by one daughter, Dana Bowers of Mena; one grandson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9 in Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wesley Blankenship officiating. Burial followed in Redmen cemetery.
The family received friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8 at the funeral home.
Hermelinda Pacheco
Mrs. Hermelinda Herrera Pacheco, age 57, resident of De Queen, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004 in Texarkana, Tex.
She was born Oct. 28, 1946 in San Felipe, Rio Grande, Zacatecas, Mexico to Rito Pacheco and Ester Herrera; and was a homemaker.
She is survived by the Dominguez-Pacheco families.
A Mass was held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Father John Kerr officiating.
Burial was in San Felipe cemetery in San Felipe, Mexico.
Anita Roberts
Mrs. Anita Kaye Roberts, age 48, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Thursday, September 23, 2004, in the Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville.
She was born July 2, 1956. She was a homemaker and Baptist.
Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her mother, Ernestine Griffin Roberts Pate.
She is survived by two sons, Daniel Lynn Barnett and wife, Jennifer, and Ronny Doyle Pender and fiance, Brenda Kay, all of Dierks; one granddaughter, Melonie Dawn Barnett; her father, M.G. Roberts, Sr. and wife, Sandra, of Camas, Washington; three brothers, Butch Roberts and wife, Nancy, and Bobby Roberts, all of Gillham, and Bruce Pate of Dierks; one sister, Debbie Smith and husband, Charles, of New Hope, Ark., and a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Roberts were held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2004 in Dierks cemetery with Bro. J. W. Gilbert officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Diamond Heath Lee
Former McCurtain County, Oklahoma and Sevier County, Arkansas resident - Diamond Heath Lee passed away, Saturday, September 11, 2004 in Ruther Glen, Virginia.
He was born on October 7, 1978 at De Queen, Arkansas.
Heath was preceded in death by his grandparents Lynn Dale Davis, Mary Reynolds, Lloyd Lee, and Edward Peaker; and a cousin Tara Whitehead Radatz.
He loved sports of all kinds, spending time with his family and friends, his dish network, TV sports, and video games. His lifelong dream was to be able to get his drivers license. He graduated high school at Mt. Dora High School, Mt. Dora, Florida, where he was water boy for the football team for eight years. He couldn't play sports because of his severe seizure disorder, but his love of the game never changed. Heath had severe medical disabilities since he was 5 months of age and throughout his 26 years. He loved and lived life to his fullest and was currently under the medical care of Dr. Basil Uthman of Shands Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. Dr. Uthman is one of the first three doctors in the world to work with Vagus Nerve Stimulators, that was placed in Heath, to control his seizure disorder. This was done in 1998 and worked well for him to control his seizure disorder.
Heath leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Chuck and Wilma (Davis) Atnip of Sorrento, Florida; his biological father, Raymond Lloyd Lee of North Carolina; his grandparents, Estelle Whitehead of Gillham, Arkansas, Wayne and Lori Gill of Noble, Oklahoma, and Betty Peaker of Enid, Oklahoma; one brother, Raymond L. Lee II of Lake Mary, Florida; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Brad and Latessa (Davis) Pearl of Sorrento, Florida and Jeff and Michelle Harrison of Sorrento, Florida; one niece, Breanna Pearl of Sorrento, Florida; and one nephew, Scott Harrison of Sorrento, Florida. Heath loved all of his family equally but had two special uncles he dearly loved - Bobby Davis of Gillham, Arkansas and Robert Lee of Mena, Arkansas; aunts and uncles, Shawna "Yogi" Clowers of Gillham, Arkansas, Ed and Lynda Whitehead of Garvin, Oklahoma, Steve Davis of Gillham, Arkansas, Bobby and Starla Fulford of Noble, Oklahoma, Jay and Teresa Atnip of Texas, Gary and Gail of Noble, Oklahoma, Shirley Bob Norris of Dierks, Arkansas, Lillie Turner and Frankie Bice of Arkansas, Mary and David Russell of Little Rock, Arkansas, Joseph and Penny Reynolds of De Queen, Curtis and Kathy Reynolds of Horatio, Arkansas, and George Lee of Oklahoma; and numerous cousins, family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, September 18, 2004 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel, 403 Stilwell Ave., De Queen, Arkansas with Bro. Michael Mings officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley cemetery in Gillham, Arkansas.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2004 at the funeral home in De Queen.
A candlelight service will be held in Heath's honor in Mt. Dora, Florida on September 25, 2004.
Jay B. Gore
Jay B. Gore, age 74, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004.
He was born Thursday, Aug. 28, 1930 at Horatio; served 20-plus years in the U.S. Air Force retiring as Senior Master Sgt.; was a meteorologist; an Air Traffic Controller; and a member of Remount Baptist Church.
He is survived by an aunt, Claire Edmonson of Horatio.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9 in Moore’s Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with Rev. James Edwards, Rev. Paul Barker, Rev. Cliff Hutchins and Rev. Victor Coleman officiating. Interment was at 12 noon Friday, Sept. 10 in Horatio cemetery.
Amanda Merworth
Amanda Grenita Merworth, age 24, resident of Russellville, Arkansas, and former resident of De Queen, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 21, 2004 in a Russellville Hospital.
She was a student at the Arkansas Tech University, and was a member of the Russellville Missionary Baptist Church, and also an active member of MBSF. Her radiant smile and her big heart will be cherished by many. Her joy of living was contagious to all who were around her.
She was born to Glen Dale and Hildred Grenita Briggs Merworth at De Queen, Arkansas, on March 27, 1980.
Other survivors are her special parents, Dedee and Nathan Williamson of De Queen; two special brothers: William "Bubba" Hoover of Russellville, Ark., and Travis Williamson of Bentonville, Ark.; four brothers, Brandon Merworth of Brenham, Texas, Danny Fatheree of Nathan, Ark., Allen Briggs of Grannis, Ark., and Curtis Glen Merworth of Salt Lake City, Utah; six sisters, Diane Maker of Midland, Texas, Donna Jo Faglie of Blanket, Texas, Tammy Merworth of Salt Lake City, Utah, Glenda Stinnett of De Queen, and Krystal "Krissie" Norman of Nashville, Ark.; step-dad, Larry Gray of Wickes, Ark.; as well as other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Amanda Merworth were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 25, 2004 in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ed Heflin, Bro. Brandon Thomas and Bro. Ken Worthen officiating. Burial followed in the Mineral cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
The family received friends at Chandler Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 24th.
Norma Harris
Norma Harris, age 70, resident of McCamey, Tex., died Friday, Oct. 1, 2004 in Midland Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4 in First Baptist Church in McCamey with Thomas Lee Harris and Rev. Ted Creech officiating. Burial followed in Resthaven cemetery under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
She was born April 6, 1934 in Gillham; was a homemaker; and a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Harris.
She is survived by her husband, Erbie H. Harris of McCa-mey; three sons, John Harris of Bakersfield, Calif., Don Harris of Sonora, Tex., and Thomas Lee Harris of Denton, Tex.; four daughters, Nancy Sharpe of Grapevine, Tex., Sarah O’Donnell of Van Horn, Tex., Darcey Lynch of McCamey, Tex., and Joy Brooks of Coppell, Tex.; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Jewel McIntosh
Jewel McIntosh, age 74, resident of Mineral Springs, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004.
She was born July 24, 1930 in White Cliffs to Lake and Jessie Davis Melson; was a homemaker; and a member of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. McIntosh; one son, Edward Tinkes; her parents; a grandson, Charles Edward Tinkes; and four brothers, Kenneth, Dick, Johnnie and Jackie.
She is survived by five daughters, Louise Hill of Lockesburg, Diana Smith of New Hope, Betty McIntosh and Marie Boozer, both of Mineral Springs, and Esther McIntosh of Nashville; six sons, Coy Tinkes and Charles Tinkes, both of Houston, Tex., David McIntosh of Nashville, Joe McIntosh, Richard McIntosh and William McIntosh, all of Mineral Springs; one sister, Jessie Fatheree of Nashville; one brother, Mackie Melson of Nashville; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18 at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Bro. Clyde White and Bro. James Gathright officiating. Burial followed in County Line cemetery under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Nashville.
