Vera Faye House
Mrs. Vera Faye Montgomery House, age 93, resident of Texarkana, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004 at her home.
She was born March 14, 1911 in De Queen to Morton Chandler Montgomery Sr. and Katherine Nalley; was the owner of L.P. Gas Company in Texarkana; and a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church in Texarkana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe House; her parents; and two sisters, Marie Montgomery and Bonnie Montgomery.
She is survived by one brother, Morton Montgomery of Truth or Consequences, NM.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday. Sept. 3 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Phillip Reaves officiating. Burial will follow in Redmen cemetery.
Lorene Ashford
Lorene McConnell Ashford, age 87, resident of Dierks, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004 in Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville.
She was born Nov. 19, 1916 in Ringling, Okla.; was a homemaker; and a member of Dierks Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Ashford in 1996; and her parents, Oscar and Mary Lankford McConnell.
She is survived by three sons, John Ashford of Nashville, Joe Ashford of Dierks, and James Ashford of Broken Bow, Okla.; one sister, Minnie Sandbeck of Natchez, Miss.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23 in Dierks Church of Christ with James McRae and Lowell Lites, ministers, officiating. Burial will follow in Hochatown cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
Lois Gage
Mrs. Lois Caldwell Gage, age 100, resident of De Queen, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004 in Sevier County Health Care Center.
She was born May 24, 1904 in Bagwell, Tex., to William Augustus and Lillie Orval Head Caldwell; was a homemaker; and a member of Smyrna Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer Gage in 1985; and a granddaughter, Beverly Stringer.
She is survived by one son, Maxie Gage of De Queen; two daughters, Joyce Pickens and Merle Renfrow, both of De Queen; a sister, Mavis Washington of San Angelo, Tex.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Foster Krudwig, minister, officiating. Burial followed in Smyrna cemetery.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7 at the funeral home.
Mildred N. Deer
Mildred N. Deer, age 79, resident of Nashville, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004 in a local hospital.
She was born June 21, 1925 in Forrester to the late Oliver and Laura Sherrell Draper; was a homemaker; and a member of Dierks Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Deer in 1995; a daughter, Emma Harris; two sons, Earl Deer and Larry Deer; three sisters, Willma Robinson, Oma Lee Manes and Bea Bunting; one brother, Dwaine Draper; and one adopted son, Danny Deer.
She is survived by three sons, Sonny Deer of Lockesburg, Ricky Joe Deer of Murfreesboro and Tommy Deer of Dierks; three daughters, Mary Francis Ward of Dierks, Glenda Faye Conatser of Nashville and Diane Cox of Dierks; one adopted daughter, Mary Alexander of Dierks; one brother, Norman Draper of Pine Bluff; three sisters, Mary Hurst, Lorene Crook and Jeanie Fish, all of Dumas; 34 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30 in Nashville Funeral Home with Bro. Kenny Martin and Bro. Henry Bateman officiating. Burial followed in Sweet Home cemetery.
Henry Jefferson Lee
Henry Jefferson Lee, age 66, resident of Eagletown, Okla., died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004 in Eagletown.
He was born Feb. 9, 1938 to Pally Doak and Allie Brown Lee; and was a self-employed logger. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Florence Davis and Vodean Shields.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Lee of Eagletown, Okla.; three sons, T.J. Lee of Eagletown, Okla., Darrell Lee of De Queen, and Steven Lee of Dallas, Tex.; one brother, Woodrow Lee of Eagletown, Okla.; two sisters, Maybelle Flowers of Tulsa, Okla., and Viola Burrels of Blue Jay, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23 in Eagletown cemetery with Dub Flowers officiating, under the direction of Norwood-Coffee-Leonard Funeral Home of Broken Bow, Okla.
Hazel Elizabeth Owen
Mrs. Hazel Elizabeth Dunn Owen, age 72, resident of Lockesburg, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004 in Pleasant Manor Nursing Home at Ashdown.
She was born Nov. 28, 1931 at Abingdon, Va.; designed and manufactured dollhouses and doll furniture with her husband; and was a member of the Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Stephen Michael Tremblay in 2001.
She is survived by her husband, Emanuel Lee Owen of Lockesburg; three sons, Rusty Owen, Tracy Owen and Tommy Holliday; two daughters, Judy Cowen and Tammy Tremblay; three brothers, Russell Flanagan and John Flanagan, both of Houston, Tex., and Lewis Whitley of North Dakota.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7 in Newsom Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Popular Spring cemetery, Charleston, Miss.
Ronnie Joe Jaquess
Ronnie Joe Jaquess, age 46, resident of Horatio, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004 in Horatio.
He was born Feb. 19, 1958 in Gallup, NM, to G.W. and Elizabeth May Johnson Jaquess Sr.; was a carpenter; and a member of First Pentecostal Church of De Queen. He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by one son, Matthew Joe Jaquess of Denver, Colo.; his mother, Elizabeth Jaquess of Horatio; one brother, Junior Jaquess of Ben Lomond; four sisters, Mary Helen Downing and Linda Launius, both of Lockesburg, Barbara Rink of De Queen, and Shirley Byrum of Nashville.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19 in Belleville Methodist Church with Rev. Wallace Wooten and Se Ward officiating. Burial followed in Belleville cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Billy Glen "Bill" Henderson
Billy Glen "Bill" Hender-son, age 71, of Hot Springs, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2004, at St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center.
Mr. Henderson was born March 4, 1933, in the Oma community in Garland County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Henderson and Zelma Louton Henderson, and one brother, Bobby Joe Henderson of Pearcy, Arkansas.
Mr. Henderson owned "Henderson Sign Shop" and had a kind, artistic soul. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, the Razorbacks and drinking coffee with his friends. He was a member of the Grand Avenue United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty Coulter Henderson of Hot Springs; two daughters, Denise Henderson of Chicago, Illinois, and Ann Henderson Gilbert and her husband Jim of Little Rock, Arkansas. He is also survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Bob Biles of Hot Springs; many nieces and nephews whom he loved, a host of friends and one special niece, Kelli Henderson Hall, who helped care for him during his illness.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 21, 2004, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs, with Rev. Teddy Hill officiating.
Interment was in the Oma cemetery, Pearcy, Arkansas.
Pallbearers were Tommy Barrett, Bill Blackwell, Buddy Black, Irv Troyer, Joel Henderson, Brett Henderson and Greg Hale.
Honorary pallbearers were Myra and Wayne Clay, Cindy and Larry Hale, Carolyn Kueteman, Ann Coulter, Ruby Henderson Meeks, Rachel and John Heffernan, Boyd Heath, Harold Tankersley, Robert Borland, his coffee drinking buddies, the Virginia Clinton Kelley Democratic Women's Club and Dr. Robert Muldoon and staff.
Visitation was held Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

The family was at 241 Curbstone Road in Hot Springs. After the burial, the family gathered at 3441 Pearcy Road in Pearcy.
A.D. Butterick
A.D. Butterick, age 91, resident of Green’s Chapel Community, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004 at his home.
He was born June 8, 1913 to James and Elsie Butterick; and was a retired butcher.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes May Cox Butterick; and a niece, Marie Leeper of Lockesburg.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8 in Green’s Chapel Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Wiles officiating. Burial followed in Lockesburg cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home of De Queen.
Doroteo Sandoval
Doroteo Miranda Sandoval, age 64, resident of De Queen, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004 in De Queen Regional Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 9, 1039 in Iquala Gerrero, Mexico to Jose Sandoval and Beatris Miranda; and was a member of St. Barbara’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mariana Pineda Vavela; three sons, Carlos Alberto Sandoval, Jose Sandoval and Enrique Sandoval; and two daughters, Beatris Sandoval and Teresa Sandoval.
A Rosary was held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22 in Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Panteon Municipal cemetery in Puente De Ixtla, Morelos, Mexico.
