Jo Ann T. Wood
Jo Ann T. Wood, 67, of Tyronza died Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at the Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
She was an office manager for the ASCS office and a member of Tyronza Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Paula Hatcher of Lepanto, and Melinda Acoach of Atlanta, Ga.; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 19 at 1 p.m. at the Tyronza Baptist Church.
Burial followed at the Tyronza Cemetery.
Roller-Citizens Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Ottie Willis Smith
Ottie Willis Smith, 76, of Tyronza, died on Friday, April 4, 2003, at his home.
Smith was a member of the Tyronza First United Methodist Church, a retired volunteer fireman for the Tyronza Fire Department and a WWII Army veteran.
He was a retired truck driver for Home Oil Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Okland Smith and Mary Ann (Perkins) Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Merlene (Fisher) Smith of Tyronza; one daughter, Janie Lawson of North Little Rock; one sister, Polly Holbrook of Tyronza; three brothers, Melvin Smith of Earle, Reeder Smith of Tyronza and Russell Smith of Marked Tree; and three grandsons, Brian Lawson, Benjamin Lawson and Brad Lawson, all of North Little Rock.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2003, at the Tyronza First United Methodist Church.
Burial followed at the Tyronza Cemetery.
Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis had charge of the arrangements.
Doris Jenkins
Doris Jenkins, 77, of Marked Tree, died Nov. 22, 2002, at her home.
She was of the Baptist faith and was a housewife.
She is survived by one daughter, Jean Holcomb of Scottsboro, Ala.; one sister, Beulah Willis of Lakeland, Fla.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral was Monday, Nov. 25 at Wilson Funeral Home in Tyronza.
Brother Lyndal Vinson officiated the ceremony.
Place of burial was at the Tyronza Cemetery. Visitation was held.
Thomas Arthur Holt, Jr.
Thomas Arthur Holt, Jr., 74, of 118 Sneed Street in Marked Tree died June 4, 2002 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.
He was owner and operator of Holt Lumber and Hardware in Marked Tree.
A graveside service will be June 6 at 1 p.m. at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion.
Gary Starbuck will officiate the ceremony.
He is survived by three daughters, Diana Pilgrim of Memphis, Nancy Stogner of Little Rock and Cathy Baker of West Memphis, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Elenor Opal (Davis) Hicks
Elenor Opal (Davis) Hicks, 88, of Marked Tree died Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at her home.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Sneed Street Baptist Church in Marked Tree.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Reba Hicks Sloan and her parents, James Edward and Minnie May (Stropes) Davis.
Survivors include two sons: Jerry Hicks of Melbourne and Lonnie Hicks of Marked Tree; four daughters: Janet George of Marked Tree, Geneva Martin of Dacono, Colo., Joyce Thompson of Marion, and Glena Smith of Springfield, Mo.; 17 grandchildren: Phyllis Bell, Marlyn Hobbs, Dianne Morgan, Ricky Hicks, Sandra Bradley, Rhonda Stewart, Richard Runge, Brenda Harvey, Eddie Hicks, Leslie Hicks, Amy Smith, Deena Woolsey, Clayton Smith, Renee Grissom, Lynn Blagg, Kenny George and Randy Nash; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 30 at Sneed Street Baptist Church in Marked Tree with Pastor Ron Lovins officiating.
Burial followed in Marked Tree Cemetery.
Active pallbearers included Ricky Hicks, Richard Runge, Clayton Smith, Joshua Hobbs, Perry Hobbs, and James Harvey.
Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Rinehart, Clay Maddox, Jerry Carter, Bobby Smith, Johnny Ruiz and Eugene Neal.
Memorials may be made to Sneed Street Baptist Church in Marked Tree.
Jimmie Freeman
Jimmie Freeman, 78, of Groveport, Ohio passed away Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital.
Freeman was retired from Federal Glass where he served for 28 years and was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God.
Freeman was proceeded in death by his parents Carl and Callie Freeman.
He was survived by his wife of 58 years, Evalena "Kate" Freeman, of the home; two sons: Thomas Lee Freeman of Groveport, Ohio, and Larry Freeman of Columbus, Ohio; five sisters: Carline Roark of Lepanto; Bonnie Hobbs of Lepanto; Diane Meherg of Etowah; Betty Pilgrim of Lepanto, and Shirley Adams of Manila; two brothers: Sonny Freeman of Lepanto and Bobby Freeman of Newark; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at noon on Saturday at the Pentecostal Church of God.
Pastor Mark Hatfield officiated and burial followed at Interment Obetz Cemetery.
Janetta Mae Fraley
Janetta Mae Fraley, 71, of Marked Tree died Monday, August 2, 2004 at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro.
She was a sales clerk and of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Denver Fraley and Tressie Stephen.
Survivors include two sisters: Louise Browder of Glendale, Ariz. and Reba Davis of Rockford, Ill; and three brothers: Harold Fraley of Russellville, Charles Fraley of Friendswood, Texas, and Darrell Fraley of West Memphis.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 6 at Pine Log Cemetery in Brookland with Bro. Larry Deaton officiating.
Arrangements were handled by Wilson Funeral Home in Tyronza.
