Eddie "Peabody" Caldwell, Jr.

Eddie "Peabody" Caldwell, Jr., 57, of Osceola died last Sunday at the Methodist Hospital in Memphis.

Caldwell, a yard worker and member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church was born March 14, 1947 at Wilson, Arkansas.

Caldwell is survived by his wife, Georgia Mae Caldwell of Sacramento, Ca.; three daughters, Annie Caldwell of St. Louis, Mo., Eyneece Gilmore of Bellville, Ill., Yvonne McLaurin of Osceola; five sons, Aaron Caldwell of Pine Bluff, Eddie Caldwell, III of Denver, Co., Everette Caldwell of North Carolina, Parnell Williamson of Washington, DC, Tony Caldwell of Jonesboro; six sisters, Charmaine Walker of Chicago, Ill., Gloria Jean of Champayne, Ill, Earlene Smith of Luxora, Ethel Downer of Detroit, Mich., Jerlene Chew of Blytheville and Shirley Huberins of Luxora; and four brothers, Brian Jones of Tacoma, Wa., Curtis Harvey of Johnson City, Kan., James Dority of San Antonio, Tex. and Robert Smith of St. Louis, Mo.

Caldwell is also survived by 16 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Caldwell will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Osceola, with Rev. Robert Hampton officiating.

Burial will follow at Luxora Cemetery, with Wilson Funeral Home of Osceola in charge of arrangements.

Lester Wilburn Rowland

Lester Wilburn Rowland, 79, of West Memphis died at his home March 24, 2004.

Rowland was the co-owner and a contractor for C. and L. Builders.

He was a member of the Missouri Street Church of Christ and a WWII U.S. Army veteran.

Rowland was survived by his wife, Ray Rowland of West Memphis; three daughters: Janice McMahon of West Memphis, Patsy Beatty of Conway and Dyanna Rowland McFarland of West Memphis; two sons: Kenneth Rowland of Memphis and Larry Paul Rowland of Marion; one sister: Doralena Helcel of Marion; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 26 at Missouri Street Church of Christ in West Memphis. Burial followed in Marion.

Memorials may be made to Missouri Street Church of Christ or the Families First Foundation.

Wendell Hart, Sr

Wendell Hart, Sr., 65, of Keiser died March 28, 2004 at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Hart's death was caused by a stroke.

Hart was a retired farmer and of the Pentecostal faith.

He was survived by his wife, Virginia Hart of Keiser; one daughter: Annette Sipes of Leeds, Ala.; four sons: Nathan Hart of Osceola, Tony Hart of Osceola, Bryan Hart of Keiser and Wendell Hart of Payneway; one sister: Nellie Faulkenberry of Osecola; one brother: Kendell Hart of Russellville; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Hart was preceded in death by one son: Douglas Hart; one sister: Faye Pollard and one brother: Herbert Hart.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31 at Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola with Brother Huey Meherg officiating.

Burial followed in the Manila Cemetery.

Julia Mayvelee Bell

Julia Mayvelee Bell, 80, of Marked Tree died Thursday, March 25, 2004 at her home.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Havana.

Survivors include five sons, Pete Bell Jr., Johnny Bell, and Bobby Bell, all of Marked Tree, Curtis Bell of Tyronza and Robert Bell of Fayetteville; eight daughters, Sammie Wamble of Germantown, Tenn., Wanda Sue Rose of Dallas, Ellie Mae Drilling of Russellville, Faye Rubel of Tickfaw, La., Rose Ming of Marked Tree, Diana Allison of Marion, Cindy Rapa of Fairview Heights, Ill., and Sharon Jones of Marion; three sisters, Beulah Spencer and Lorene Robison, both of Havana, and Virginia Layman of Tyronza; two brothers, Oliver Corley of Belleville and Frank Corley of Havana; 29 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Bell Sr.; a daughter, Margaret Marotti; her parents, Claudie and Rosie Lovell Corley; a sister; and two brothers.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday, March 29 in the Neiswander Baptist Church, with Phillip Rodgers officiating.

Burial followed in the Marked Tree Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis.

Pallbearers were Keith Ming, Jerry P. Allison, Jason L. Allison, Brian Bell, Walter Jones Jr., Johnathan Bell and Michael Bell.

Honorary pallbearers included Dale Bell, Chris Powers, Daniel Bullock, Kevin Ming, Timothy Marotti, Christopher Rapa and Carlos Rapa.

Mildred E. Chaffin

Mildred E. Chaffin, 88, of Redondo Beach died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004 in Torrance, Calif.

She was born in Harrisburg.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Chaffin and Donald Chaffin, both of Redondo Beach; one daughter, Jean Forbess of Redondo Beach; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at White & Day Colonial Mortuary in Redondo Beach.

Burial followed at Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach.

Jessie Faye Mosley

Jessie Faye Mosley, 53, of Blytheville died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004 at Blytheville.

Born at New Albany, Miss., she was of the Baptist belief.

Survivors include her father, James Henry Cox of Manila; and four sisters, Bessie Mae McCullough and Kimberly Gann, both of Blytheville, Melba Argentine of Highland, Ind., and Shae Walker of Griffith, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Elosie Smith Cox.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Wilson Funeral Home in Blytheville, with Gary Hyde and Kenny Davis officiating.

Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery at Blytheville.

Charles Clifford Holt

Charles Clifford Holt, 75, died Jan. 25, 2004 at Conway Regional Medical Center in Conway of natural causes.

Holt was born in Batesville and lived in Trumann most of his life before moving to Greers Ferry 12 years ago.

He was retired from the Singer Company in Trumann and a member of the Freer Baptist church.

Holt was survived by his wife, Mrs. Hazel Holt of the home; two sons, Leslie Wayne Holt of Greers Ferry and Terry Clifford Holt of Greers Ferry; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Holt was preceded in death by one son, Larry Holt; one grandson, Jarred McClung; and three sisters, Martha Ward, Icie Brooks, and Veneda McMullen.

Holt was the son of the late Charlie and Vergie Terrell Holt.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann with Rev. R.W. Goodman and Rev. Leland Warlow officiating.

A graveside service followed at 2:30 p.m. at Cross Roads Cemetery in Greers Ferry.
