Judy Ann Brown
Judy Ann Brown, 53, of Dyess died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004 at Baptist ER in Osceola.
Born in Lepanto, AR, she was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include her husband, James Brown of the home; four sons, Bradley Brown, James Brown Jr., and Anthony Brown all of Dyess, and Bobby Brown of Trumann; four daughters, Margie Meurer and Tanya Brown of Lepanto, Mary Raines of Dyess, and Tammie Miles of Jonesboro; one sister, Nina Underwood of Lepanto; two brothers, Bobby Tucker of Lepanto and Larry Crump of Greenfield, IN; 23 Grandchildren and 3 Great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 2:00 PM at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Tyronza.
Bro. Kenneth Bass officiated and burial followed at Potter's Cemetery in Lepanto.
J.B. Broadaway
J.B. Broadaway, 81 of Trumann died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004 at Regional Medical Center of NEA in Jonesboro.
Born in Trumann, he had lived in Trumann for the past 40 years and was formerly of Marked Tree.
He was a retired service station owner, a member of the Jonesboro Bowling Center League for over 40 years and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include his wife, Hilda Broadaway of the home; three daughters, Ann Childers and Patricia Flemon, both of Jonesboro, and Janet Allen of Marion; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Ethel Day Broadaway, and two brothers.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann, with the Revs. Lynn Childers and Rick Hart officiating.
Burial followed in Nettleton Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Lynn Childers, Jarrod Childers, Gary Van Allen, Barry Wayne Flemon, Scott Flemon, Bruce Flemon, Janson Allen and Ben Allen.
Honorary pallbearers included Gary Allen Sr., W.A. Echols, Kenny Broadaway, Charles Weathers and Gregg Anderson.
Marshall Monroe Woods
Marshall Monroe Woods, 76, of Marked Tree died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004 at Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Woods was of the Baptist belief, a member of the American Legion, and a member of the Marked Tree Historical Society.
Woods was survived by his wife, Selma Rorie Woods of the home; his son, Gary Woods of Marked Tree; his daughter, Marsha Woods Graham of Marion; six grandchildren: Kimberly Hawkins McFarland, Mallory Woods, Matthew Woods, Matthew Adamson, Daniel Adamson, and Jennifer Graham; and three great-grandchildren: Austin McFarland, Triston James Adamson, and Katelynn Michelle Adamson.
Woods was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Monroe Woods, Sr. and Pearlie Shafer Woods as well as his brother Johnnie B. Woods.
Mr. Woods lived in the Northeast Arkansas area all of his life.
He retired from Barton's lumber company and also sold insurance for MFA in Marked Tree for several years.
Woods served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 4 from 5:00 n 8:00 p.m. at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel with Rev. Gerald Kausler officiating.
Burial will follow at Marked Tree Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rick Tubbs, Charles Stracner, Don Davis, Dennis Adams, Bob Mouser, and Danny Johnson.
Anyone wishing to leave a lasting memorial is asked to consider the American Heart Association, Diabetes Foundation, or First Baptist Church "General Fund" in Marked Tree.
Alvin H. Terrell
Alvin H. Terrell, 90, of Payneway died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004 at his home.
He was a farmer, a Mason and member and song leader at the Corner Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Alvin H. Terrell Jr. of Rockford, Ill., and Ronnie Shempert of Payneway; one daughter, Teresa Shempert of Jonesboro; a brother, Ralph Terrell of Wardell, Mo.; and a grandson, Joey Terrell of Rockford.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rena Terrell, and a daughter, Jo Ann Carter.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan 18 in the chapel of Murphy Funeral Home in Marked Tree, with Ed Fiszer officiating.
Burial was in the Potter Memorial Cemetery at Lepanto.
Pallbearers were Jerry Wood, Glenn Gillis, Jay Paul Woods, Darrell Hardin, Ewel Watson, Ray Cook, Ronnie Terrell and Don Terrell.
Memorials may be made to the Corner Chapel Baptist Church or the Liberty Baptist Church, both at Payneway.
Ida Gene Avery
Ida Gene Avery, 61, of Lepanto died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004 at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith; she also was a volunteer worker at Lepanto Senior Life Center.
Survivors include her husband, Harvey Avery of the home; her mother and father, James Odell Miller and Bertie Laura Bolder; two daughters, Hope Avery Parsons and Faith Baine of Lepanto; three brothers, James Miller of Lepanto, Travis Miller of Mississippi, and Mickey Miller of West Memphis; two sisters, Shirley Davis of Illinois and Anita Johnson of Lepanto; and two grandchildren
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 20 at 10:00 AM at the Calvary Baptist Church in Lepanto with Rev. Bob Dailey officiating.
Burial took place at Potter's Cemetery in Lepanto.
Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Lepanto.
Lizzie Anderson
Lizzie Anderson, 81, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004 at Three Rivers Nursing Center in Marked Tree.
Anderson was born Aug. 16, 1922 in Greenville, Miss.
Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker and a member of the Anderson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Mother's Board.
Anderson was also a member of St. Matthew's Chapter #351 Order of the Eastern Star.
Anderson was survived by her spouse Charlie Anderson.
Four surviving daughters include Francis Smith of Milwaukee, Wis.; Ann Powe of Elkhart, Ind.; and Charlie Mae Anderson of Chicago, Ill.
Anderson was survived by four sons: Nathaniel Engram of Marked Tree; Rev. Abdullah Shabazz of Springfield, Mo.; Joseph Anderson of Carson City, Nev.; and Charlie Anderson, of Memphis, Tenn.
Two surviving brothers include George Engram of Chicago, Ill. and Emmitt Engram of Chicago.
Anderson was also survived by 29 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 23 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Chapel at Sims-Woodard Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 12:00 noon at Anderson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with pastor Reginald Taylor officiating.
Mrs. Anderson will lie in state from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the church.
Mrs. Anderson will be buried at Marked Tree Civic Cemetery.
