Hazel Bearden
Hazel Elouise Van Dalsem Bearden, 83, of Houston, Texas, died May 12, 2001.
She was born in Perryville Nov. 29, 1917. She was the widow of Horace Hillman Bearden.
Survivors include one son, Tony Bearden of Houston, Texas.
Graveside service will be at Friendship Cemetery in Solgohachia Sunday, June 10. Arrangements are by Crowder Funeral Home in Webster, Texas.
Mildred Deaver
Mildred Marie Deaver, age 86, of Plumerville, died May 31, 2001.
She was born June 13, 1914, in Plumerville, Arkansas, a daughter of Clarence Lacefield and Dove Wells Jenkins. She was a homemaker and member of Portland Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Sue Deaver of Plumerville; daughters and sons-in-law, Letha and Dr. Bill Brown of Morrilton, Margaret and Sherman Tiner of Plumerville; sister, Pauline Davis of Cotton Plant, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl Deaver, and great-grandson Doug Deaver.
Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, at Portland Missionary Baptist Church with Eld. Lindy Davis, Dr. Bill Brown and Bro. Fritz Heidenreich officiating. Burial was at Plummerville Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Pallbearers were William Burl Deaver, Randy Deaver, Ray Tiner, Burl Dewayne Tiner, Eddie Jackson, Mark Clark, Ben Darter, and Fritz Heidenreich.
Jesse Cooper
Jesse Dee Cooper, age 67, of Houston, died Thursday, May 31, 2001.
He was born December 14, 1933, in Houston, Arkansas, a son of Henry and Rebecca Spence Cooper. Mr. Cooper was a Korean Army veteran, retired from Arkansas Kraft and member of Riverview Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Emerson Cooper; son, Jerry Cooper of Conway; brothers, Johnnie Cooper of Toledo, Ohio, Frank Cooper of Bastrop, Louisiana, Gilbert Cooper of Moody, Texas, Ray Cooper of Rogers, Arkansas, and Lealon Cooper of Houston, Texas; grandson, James Cooper; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Jeanie and Pedro Figueroa, and great-grandchildren, Pedro, Jr. and Alexus.
Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at Riverview Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Atkinson officiating. Burial was at Thornburg Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Pallbearers were Larry Nelson, Fred Mathews, Ronnie Foster, Tom Allen, Daniel Mitchell, and Shane Cooper.
Marie McGinty
Marie Yates McGinty, 82, of Morrilton, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001.
She was born July 21, 1918, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, a daughter of Marion Otto Brewer and Grace McLaren Brewer. Mrs. McGinty was a retired sales clerk of J.C. Penney and was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include her son, Bobby Yates of Florida; brother, Thurman Brewer of Dumfries, Virginia; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, and a special friend, Eddie Harrell of Morrilton.
Memorial services were 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at Plumerville United Methodist Church with Rev. Von D. Mooney officiating. Burial was at Friendship Cemetery.
Arrangements were by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Memorials may be made to Plumerville United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
Eld. Johnnie E. Walraven
Eld. Johnnie E. Walraven, 80, a retired Baptist minister, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at his home in Willisville, Arkansas after a lengthy illness. He was born November 21, 1922 in Fouke, Arkansas to Johnny and Louise Hemperly Walraven.
He was a World War II Army veteran serving from November 1938 to July 1945, serving 3 years in the Horse Cavalry and the other 4 years in the 361st Regiment, 91st Infantry in Italy. He was awarded 2 Bronze Stars, a Silver Star, 3 Oak Leaf Clusters for the Campaigns, Combat Infantry Badge, 6 Expert Medals and the Purple Heart. Before retiring, he pastored New Liberty, Forest HIll, Pleasant Springs and Mt. Olive Churches.
Cherishing his memory are: his daughter, Marva Nell Baldwin; his granddaughter & husband, Michelle and Chris Smith; two great grandsons, Dakota Spencer Smith and Kaleb Wayne Smith, all of Willisville; his brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Betty Young of Sealy, TX; his sister-in-law, Bobbie Jean Walraven of Dubberly, LA; a brother-in-law, Paul Cooper of Arkadelphia, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, June 27, 2003 at Willisville Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Evans officiating.
Elah Faye Crank
Elah Faye Crank, age 80, of Lewisville, Arkansas died Monday, June 23, 2003 at The Reunion Plaza Nursing Center in Texarkana, Texas. She was born February 4, 1923 in Glendale, Arkansas. Mrs. Crank was a homemaker, member of First United Methodist Church in Lewisville and was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar W. Crank and by four brothers and a sister.
She is survived by: one daughter, Beverly Folmar of Texarkana, TX; one son & daughter-in-law, Tommy & Wanda Crank of Lewisville; two sisters, Ella Mae Coats of Jacksonville, AR and Beth Smith of Pine Bluff, AR; four grandchildren, Kelley Folmar of Texarkana, TX, Todd Crank of Witchita Falls, TX and Bridget Sieger and Jason Crank of Lewisville; two great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, June 26, 2003 at The Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Lewisville with the Rev. Russell Bailey officiating and burial in the Wilson Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps, AR.
William Leon Clark
William Leon Clark, age 55, of Buckner, Arkansas died Monday, June 23, 2003 at the Magnolia Hospital in Magnolia, Arkansas. He was born August 2, 1947 in Lafayette County, Arkansas. Mr. Clark was employed at McDowell Trucking and was a Vietnam veteran. He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Clark and by a brother, Jerry Clark.
He is survived by: three daughters and a son-in-law, Arica Cheatham of Stamps, Arkansas, Deedra & James Clark of Stamps, and Kristie Faulconer of Vandalia, MO; his mother, Eva Mae Clark of Buckner; one sister & brother-in-law, Arthur & Carolyn Marlar of Buckner; nine grandchildren; two nieces, Patty Alexander of Sparkman, AR and Melodie Morris of Buckner.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at The Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Bro. Spencer Plumley and Bro. Mike Turner officiating and burial in The Falcon Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, AR.
Julia Nations
Julia Nations, age 96, of Taylor, Arkansas died Sunday, June 22, 2003 at The Taylor Nursing Home. She was born May 17, 1907 in Haynesville, Louisiana.
Mrs. Nations was a homemaker, member of The Stateline Missionary Baptist Church and a longtime former member of The First Baptist Church in Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Furlow Nations and by a daughter, Dorothy Whitehead.
She is survived by: two sons & daughters-in-law, Doyle & Gertie Nations and James & Joyce Nations, all of Taylor; one daughter, Doris D. Nations of Springhill, LA; thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at The First Baptist Church in Taylor with the Rev. John Nations and Rev. Jerry Evans officiating and burial in Forest Grove Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, AR.
