Riley William Vickers

Riley William Vickers, age 85, of Hope, Arkansas died Saturday, June 21, 2003 at a Hope hospital. Mr. Vickers was born June 5, 1918 in Buckner, Arkansas. He was a retired forman for the Hempstead County Road Department.

Survivors include: one son, John William Vickers of Hope; three daughters, Margie Vickers of Hope, Brenda Steed of Laneburg, AR and Betty Stevenson of Hope; one brother, Billy Troy Vickers of Magnolia, AR; seven sisters, Mae Powell, Lorene Massey, Jo Ann Bradley, Martha Burton, all of Magnolia, Maxine Coleman of Pine Bluff, AR, Syble Hodnett of Stamps, AR, and Mary Smallwood of Hot Springs, AR; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, special friends, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at 2:00 pm in the Herndon Funeral Home Chapel in Hope with Revs. Ray Bowman and Larry Ott officiating and interment in Huckabee Cemetery.

Josephine Alice Carlton

Josephine Alice Carlton, age 78, of Rosston, Arkansas died Saturday, June 21, 2003 at a Texarkana hospital. She was born January 16, 1925 in Texarkana, AR to William & Virginia McLain. Mrs. Brown was a member of Union Baptist Church of Bodcaw.

Survivors include: her husband, Harlin Exel Carlton of Rosston; two sons, Steve Carlton & wife Judy of Rosston and Harlin H. Carlton & wife Kathy of Rosston; her brother, Russell McLain of Blevins, AR; her sister, Ruby Johnson of Hope, AR; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a host of nieces & nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 am on Monday, June 23, 2003 at The Union Baptist Church in Bodcaw, Arkansas with Bro. Joe Brown and Buddy McKamie officiating burial in the Union Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of STamps.

Mary Francis Brown

Mary Frances Brown, age 84, of Lewisville, Arkansas died Thursday, June 19, 2003 at Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas. She was born January 14, 1919 in Fouke, Arkansas to Myrtle Lee Bloodgood Thornton & Mark Edward Thornton. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and a member of the Corinth Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by two sons, two daughters, four sisters and five brothers.

Survivors include: her husband, Otis E. Brown of Lewisville; one son, Bobby William Thomas & wife Patsy of Lewisville; one daughter, Mary Ellen Maupin & husband Tommy of Perryville, AR; one sister, Gladys Burk of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2003 at The Corinth Church of Christ in Fouke, Arkansas with Billy Cutchall officiating and burial in The Corinth Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.

Johnnie Burks, Sr.

Mr. Johnnie Burks, Sr., age 56, of Lewisville, Arkansas died Friday, June 13, 2003 at a Texarkana hospital. He was born March 22, 1947 at Lewisville, Arkansas. He was a retired City employee of Lewisville and a member of Galilee Baptist Church.

He is survived by: his wife, Christine Burks of Buckner, AR; one son, Johnnie Burks of Buckner; one daughter, Nicole Burks of Dallas, TX; his mother, Mrs. Miriah Burks of Prescott, AR; five sisters, Augustine Martin, Dollie Mae Williams, Bernice Sawyer, and Hazel Edwards, all of Detroit, MI and Willie Mae Pree of Lewisville; seven brothers, Melvin Burks of Ypsilante, MI, James Burks of Springfield, OH, Henry Burks of St. Louis, MO, Clarence Burks of Texarkana, AR, James T. Burks of Ft. Wayne, IN, Charles Burks of Lewisville, AR and Richard Burks of Prescott, AR.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 am on Sunday, June 22, 2003 at Union Hill Baptist Church of North Lewisville with Rev. James Jackson officiating and burial at Galilee - Union Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.

Walter Arthur Cheatham

Walter Arthur Cheatham, age 80, of Bossier City, Louisiana, formerly of Stamps, Arkansas died Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at The Riverview Nursing Facility in Bossier City. He was born January 17, 1923 in Stamps. Mr. Cheatham was a retired carpenter and cabinet maker, a Mason and a member of the Heritage Missionary Baptist Church in Bossier City.

He is survived by: two sons & daughters-in-law, Larry & Kaye Cheatham of Stamps and Ronald & Mary Cheatham of Bossier City; one brother & sister-in-law, Harold & Jean Cheatham of Stamps; three grandsons, Allen Cheatham of Stamps, Ron Cheatham & wife Stephanie of Bossier City, and Shane Cheatham & wife Katie of McKinney, TX; five great grandchildren, Dustin, Ashley, Cheyanne, Austin & Olivia; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 am on Thursday, June 12, 2003 at The Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Bro. Ted Hurley officiating and burial in Liberty Cemetery at Stamps under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.

Clayton Chinn Miciotto

Clayton Chinn Miciotto, age 68, of Walnut Hill, Arkansas entered into rest at his home after a lengthy illness on June 9, 2003.

Memorial services were held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at the Cathedral of St. John Berchmans' St. Michael the Archangel Chapel in Shreveport, Louisiana with Father Charles Glorioso officiating and interment at Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Clayton was born July 8, 1934 in Shreveport, LA. He was the son of Willie Mae Maryman and Sam and Elizabeth Maryman Miciotto. He was a lifelong Catholic. Clayton lived in southwest Louisiana for most of his life. He was a pipeline inspector before his illness. He moved to his home of Bradley, AR six years ago with his family. He is survived by: his wife of 42 years, Patricia Lee Miciotto; his children, Hope Miciotto, Faith and Don Chaney and Charles Miciotto; three grandchildren, Sam and Lee Iler and Dalton Chaney.

Johnnie Lee Harris, Sr.

Mr. Johnnie Lee Harris, Sr., of Bradley, Arkansas died Monday, June 9, 2003 at his home. He was born March 3, 1912 at Bolinger, Louisiana. He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Paul Baptist Church.

He is survived by: nine sons, Willie Harris, Henry Lee Harris, Jimmy Harris, John Harris and Robert Harris, all of Bradley, Freddie Harris of Lewisville, AR, Willie Carroll Harris and David Lee Harris, both of Houston, TX, and Jessie B. Cooper of Bradley; eight daughters, Marie Harris, Linda Faye Harris, Rosie Beal, Mary Jack, Znobie Haynes, and Elizabeth Jack, all of Bradley, Shirley Ann Blackman of Houston, and Mattie Bradford of Stamps, AR; one brother, Jimmie Harris of Bradley; forty-one grandchildren, forty-four great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, June 14, 2003 at Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Harris officiating and burial at St. Mary Cemetery in Bradley under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.

Clara Mae Berry

Mrs. Clara Mae Berry, age 81, of Stamps, Arkansas died Saturday, June 7, 2003 at a Stamps nursing home. She was born October 14, 1921 at Stamps. She was a homemaker and a member of Greenville Baptist Church.

She is survived by: her husband, Signor Berry of Stamps; one daughter-in-law, Dorothy Joe Berry of Stamps; her mother, Mrs. Effie Valentine of Stamps; two sisters, Zeather B. Thompson of Stamps and Elizabeth Cheatham of Hope, AR; one grandson, Rex Berry of Stamps; one granddaughter, Arlene Moss of Pine Bluff, AR.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 12, 2003 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Rev. James Fred Williams officiating and burial at Mt. Zion Cemetery in McKamie, AR under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.

Leo Keith Jackson

Leo Keith Jackson, age 51, of Walker Creek, Arkansas died Friday, June 6, 2003. He was born February 12, 1952 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his father, Larry Keith Jackson.

Survivors include: his mother & step-father, Eileen & Edwin Stahl of Marlow, OK; brother, Larry Dale Jackson & wife Jessica of Shreveport, LA; grandmother, Bertha Umphries of Walker Creek; nieces & nephews, J.P., Charity, Samantha & Jacob.

Mr. Jackson was cremated. A celebration of life was held Sunday, June 8, 2003 at the family home in Walker Creek, Arkansas.
