Betty Jean Silvey Baker
Betty Jean Silvey Baker, age 70, of Stamps, Arkansas died Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. She was born December 5, 1932 in Wilisville, Arkansas.
Mrs. Baker was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Stamps, a homemaker and a retired grocery store owner & operator in Stamps. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Daphne Cole.
She is survived by: her husband, Harold Baker of Stamps; one son, Mark Baker of Stamps; two brothers, Don West of Cincinnati, OH and David West of Taylor, AR; one sister, Joan DeLamar of Stephens, AR; and granddaughter, Nicole Baker Baldwin of Texarkana, AR.
Funeral services were held at 4:00 pm on Friday, June 6, 2003 at The Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Rev. Carl Palmer and Rev. Charles Walthall officiating and burial in Lakeside Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
Billy (Kidd) Weatherly
Billy Weatherly, age 50, of Buckner, Arkansas died Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at the Magnolia Hospital in Magnolia, Arkansas. He was born March 22, 1953 in Winnsboror, Louisiana. Mr. Weatherly was a retired business owner in Garland, Arkansas.
He is survived by: two brothers & sisters-in-law, Tommy & Debbie Weatherly of Delhi, LA and Eddie & Linda Weatherly of Sullivan, MO; two special friends, Paul Nipper and Royce Vines; three nieces.
Memorial services were held at Noon on Saturday, June 14, 2003 at Kidd's Fish Camp on Lake Erling.
Bertha B. Taylor
Mrs. Bertha B. Taylor, age 93, of Lewisville, Arkansas died Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at Heather Manor Nursing Home in Hope, Arkansas. She was born January 2, 1910 in Belton Community to John David and Lillie A. Hampton Davis. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Taylor attended the Stamps Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Jean O. Taylor; one daughter, Norma Jean Bobo; one brother, Stanley Davis; two sisters, Grace Smith and Charlene Sutton; and by one granddaughter, Beth McAteer.
Her survivors include: one son, John Taylor of Lewisville; one brother, William Harold Davis of San Diego, CA; two grandchildren, Rev. Jimmy Bobo of Sheridan, AR and Linda Reddoch of Crowville, LA; seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 5, 2003 at the Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Drye and Rev. Verlin Coleman officiating and burial in the Wilson Cemetery in Lewisville.
Orville Lee Dennis
Orville Lee Dennis, age 74, of Taylor, Arkansas died Friday, May 30, 2003 in Willis Knighton Medical Center in Bossier City, Louisiana. He was born February 28, 1929 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Mr. Dennis was employed by R.E.A. mr. Dennis was also a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. Dennis of Pauls Valley, OK and Minnie Shaw of Pauls Valley.
Survivors include: his wife, Geraldine Dennis of Taylor; four sons, Barry L. Dennis of Texarkana, AR, James M. Dennis of Shreveport, LA, Roger A. Dennis of Minden, LA, and David Colten Dennis of Camden, AR; one brother, Malvin Dennis of Gueydan, LA; two sisters, Peggy LeDoux of Arlington, TX and Levaughn Greer of Ft. Worth, TX; two granddaughters and three great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 10:00 am on Sunday, June 1, 2003 at Lakeside Cemetery with Brother Mack LeDoux officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, AR.
Joseph Riley Singletary
Joseph Riley Singletary, infant, died Friday, May 30, 2003 at Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, TX.
He is survived by: his parents, Joe and Cynthia Singletary of Lewisville, AR; three sisters, Kaylin Misha Singletary, Alyssa Jewel Singletary, and Lauryn Marie Singletary, all of Lewisville; grandparents, Joe and Deborah Singletary of Lewisville, Karine Miller of Bullard, TX, and Neil and Eva Miller of Bullard, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, June 6, 2003 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Brother Wayne Johnson officiating.
Loyce Edwin Wheelington
Loyce Edwin Wheelington, age 89, of Stamps, Arkansas died Thursday, May 29, 2003 in Medical Park Hospital in Hope, Arkansas. He was born June 22, 1913 in Falcon, Arkansas. Mr. Wheelington was a WWII veteran and a retired farmer.
Survivors include: his wife, Evelyn Wheelington of Stamps, AR; four sons, Maurice Wheelington of Dallas, TX, Dennis Wheelington of Oak Grove, LA, Shelby Wheelington of Transylvania, LA, and Rusty Wheelington of Jefferson, LA; one step-son, Bruce Rushton of Magnolia, AR; two daughters, Gerri Wheelington of Dallas and Brenda Burch of Stamps; three step-daughters, Nell Bustin of New Orleans, LA, Linda Britt of Ashdown, AR and Ruth Fryar of Camden, AR; one brother, Marvin Wheelington of Oak Grove, LA; one sister, Maxine Jones of Lewisville, AR; 19 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 1, 2003 at The Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with the Rev. Donnie Edwards & David Hampton officiating and burial in the Lakeside Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
Ronal A. Chilcutt
Ronal A. (Ron) Chilcutt was led by the Lordd to his Heavenly home on May 24, 2003. Ron was born on December 17, 1946 in Weatherford, TX. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. He grew up in Lewisville, Arkansas and proudly graduated from Lewisville High School in 1964. Ron was a member of the Masonic Lodge #440 in McNeil, AR for 30 years.
Ronal is survived by: his wife, Vicki L. Chilcutt, daughter, Charlyn Tatom, son, Corey Nipper, grandchildren, Shelby Tatom and Meghan Nipper, Brother, Jathan Chilcutt and wife, Dana, and several nieces and nephews. Ron also had an abundance of friends whom he loved dearly.
Memorial service was held Tuesday, May 27, 2003.
Virgil Ostamp Umphries
Virgil Ostamp Umphries, age 80, of Taylor, Arkansas, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at a Springhill, Louisiana hospital. He was a veteran and a member of the Stateline Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Umphries was born in Taylor on June 11, 1922.
Survivors include: one sister and brother-in-law, Gertie M. and Doyle H. Nations of Taylor, AR.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at the Stateline Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Pickard officiating and burial in the Stateline Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps, AR.
