Geraldine Taylor Robertson
Geraldine Taylor Robertson, age 88, of Taylor, Arkansas died Friday, April 2, 2004 at the Columbia Healthcare in Taylor. She was born October 21, 1915 in Taylor. She was the daughter of Fort Henry Taylor and Mary Elizabeth Talley. Mrs. Robertson was a member of the First Baptist Church of Taylor, a devoted wife and mother.
Mrs. Robertson was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Paul Alvin Robertson. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Cecil Woodrow Taylor, Fort Henry Taylor and Paul Durwood Taylor, and one sister, Iris Taylor Duke.
Survivors include: one son, Henry Lee Robertson of Waldo, Arkansas; two daughters, Pauline Supinski of Payson, AZ and Dinah Van Hook of El Dorado, Arkansas; one brother, Bob Taylor of Taylor, AR; two granddaughters, Tawana Staten and Elizabeth Van Hook; two great grandchildren, Droux and Taylor Staten; many relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 am on Monday, April 5, 2004 at the First Baptist Church of Taylor with Rev. Randy Wilson officiating and burial in the Sharmin Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, AR.
Rubye Hampton
Rubye Hampton, age 94, of Lewisville, died Friday, April 2, 2004. She was a member of the Lewisville Church of Christ. Mrs. Hampton was born in Nevada County, Arkansas on September 15, 1909.
She is survived by one son, Earl Denton Hampton of Lewisville.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 5, 2004 at Wilson Cemetery in Lewisville with Mickey May officiating.
Helen Faye Vines
Helen Faye Vines, age 85, of Buckner, Arkansas died Thursday, April 1, 2004 at the Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas. She was born November 19, 1918 in Lafayette County, Arkansas. Mrs. Vines was a homemaker, a member of the Falcon Church of Christ and was preceded in death by her husband, Harris Vines and by a son, Johny Anthony Vines.
She is survived by: four sons & daughters-in-law, Wilson & Ellen Vines of Buckner, Ray & Peggy Vines of Hull, TX, Harold & Sharon Vines of Arkadelphia, AR, and James "Bo" & Shirley Vines of Bodcaw, AR; one daughter & son-in-law, Margie & James Schaferling of White Wright, TX; two brothers, James Blankenship of Stamps, AR and Hoyt "Sport" Blankenship of Waldo, AR; two sisters, Berneice Cox of Pasadena, TX and Dorothy Mitchell of Stamps; nineteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, and fourteen great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 4, 2004 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Turner officiating and burial in the Falcon Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
Eva Petty
Eva Petty, age 99, of Gonzales, Texas, formerly of Stamps, Arkansas died Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at the Cartwheel Lodge Nursing Home in Gonzales. She was born September 9, 1904 in Cotton Valley, Louisiana. Mrs. Petty was a retired homemaker and a pharmacy clerk and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Stamps. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Arthur Petty.
She is survived by: one daughter & son-in-law, Dorothy & John C. Henderson of Gonzales; one sister, Corrine Lindsey of Pineville, LA; granddaughter, Jennifer Leigh Owens & husband Anthony of Weimar, TX; two step-grandchildren, Hillary Dunshee & husband Gary of Alpine, TX and Brookes Henderson & wife Cheryl of Alvin, TX; nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at the Lakeside Cemetery in Stamps under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
Alton Stovall
Alton Stovall, age 87, of Stamps, Arkansas died Wednesday March 31, 2004 at his residence. He was born February 17, 1917 in Rusk, Texas. Mr. Stovall was a retired cattle rancher, a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., D.A.V., Amvets and a veteran of World War II. He attended the First Baptist Church in Stamps. He was preceded in death by his parents, John M. and Mary Eula Stovall.
He is survived by: his wife, Linnie Dale Stovall of Stamps; niece, Evyone Stovall Gates; seven great nephews and nieces and a number of other relatives; special friend, Garry P. Rivers.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 2, 2004 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Rev. Mike Turner and Rev. Charles Walthall officiating and burial in Sardis Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
Ruby Hamilton Nicholas
Ruby Hamilton Nicholas, age 85, of Stamps, Arkansas died Saturday March 27, 2004 at the Homestead Manor Nursing Home in Stamps. She was born May 24, 1918 in Lafayette County, Arkansas. Mrs. Nicholas was a homemaker, a devoted mother and wife, and a member of the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Nicholas.
She is survived by: three daughters & sons-in-law, Carolyn & Hank Simmons of Stamps, Glenda Beth & Weldon Booth of Tyler, TX and Joy & Doyle Rogers of Stamps; one sister, Doyce Jones of Stamps; nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at the Sardis Cemetery north of Stamps with David Nicholas officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
Reynold Hammontree
Reynold Hammontree, age 89, of Springhill, Louisiana died Wednesday, March 24, 2004 in Minden Medical Center in Minden, Louisiana. He was born July 11, 1914 in El Dorado, Arkansas. Mr. Hammontree was a retired farmer, a member of the Springhill Church of Christ and was preceded in death by his wife, Nina White Hammontree.
He is survived by: three daughters & sons-in-law, Rose Marie & Buddy Lay of Bradley, AR, Clarene & Chuck Dinkins of Sparta, TN and Sandra & Bill Russ of Prairieville, LA; one son & daughter-in-law, James Earl & Judy Hammontree of Montrose, AL; two sisters, Sue Holtzclaw of Cotton Valley, LA and Bessie Charles of Sarepta, LA; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 10:00 am Thursday, March 25, 2004 at the Friendship Methodist Cemetery near El Dorado, Arkansas with Bro. Buddy Lay and Bro. Chuck Dinkins officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, AR.
Evelyn Rogers
Evelyn Rogers, age 86, of Texarkana died Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at a nursing home in Texarkana, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Marshall Rogers; son, George Errol (Sonny) Rogers; two great granddaughters, Laura Henley & Kasi Longstreth.
Survivors include: two daughters, Cornelia and husband Gayle Stuart of Sherwood, AR and Cynthia and husband Bobby Wilson of Texarkana, AR; three brothers, Michael and wife Sandy Rogers of Texarkana, AR, William (Bill) Glen of Conway, AR, and Ronald and wife Yolanda Rogers of San Antonio, TX; eleven grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm Friday, March 26, 2004 at Sardis Methodist Church in Stamps with Rev. Leon McDowell and Rev. Bobby Neil Wilson officiating and burial in the Sardis Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
