Rosebell ‘Tura’ Polk
Rosebell “Tura” Muliwai Polk, 79, of Center Ridge died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002.
She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, a daughter of Manuel Demello and Lucy Lukela Demello. Mrs. Polk was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ardith Taylor Polk; one son, James Allen Polk of Springdale; two daughters, Frances Peoples of KaiLuai, Hawaii and Margret E. Dieterich of Kaneohe, Hawaii; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father John Yates officiating. Burial will be at Center Ridge Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Rosary will be 7 tonight (Wednesday) at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Taylor Allen Polk, William Allen Polk, Timbo Honeycutt, Frank McCarthy, Fred Zimmerman, and Woody Ring. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Wilson, Marion Rossi, and Junior Latimer.
Willie McCray
Willie Joe McCray, 76, of Conway died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002.
He was born March 29, 1926, in Conway, a son of Tex and Bertha Mason McCray. He was a retired Navy veteran and member of the American Legion and United Baptist Church. He was the widower of Lizzie Ruth Cobbs McCray.
Survivors include one son, Krammon of Boston, Mass.; one daughter, Vanice McCray of Boston, Mass.; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at United Baptist Church by the Rev. William Forté. Burial will be at Ray Cemetery by Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home, Conway.
Pallbearers will be Odell Hammons, Steve Flood, Derrick McCray, Marvin Bedford Jr., Phillip McCray, and Robert Crenshaw.
Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Conway.
Dovie Hogue
Dovie Chapman Hogue, 951¦2, of Little Rock died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002.
She was a member of Rosehill Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Monticello.
Survivors include two sons, Bob Charles Chapman of Bigelow, and Daniel John Chapman of San Diego, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Jane Jordon of Monticello and Judy Thurman of Crossett; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Qualls officiating. Interment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Michael Cagle
Michael Lee Cagle, age 38, a lifetime resident of Conway County died Sunday, December 1, at St. Anthony’s hospital in Morrilton.
A son of the late Jacob Lavell Cagle and Bonnie Faye Stacks Cagle, Michael was born in Morrilton on August 5, 1964. He was employed by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission where he worked as a radio dispatcher. He was a member of the First Assembly of God and also a member of Christian Motorcyclists Association, known as the GAP Riders. Michael enjoyed spending his time riding his motorcycle, fishing and playing with his cat.
Michael is survived by his wife, Carol Cagle of Plumerville; one son, Justin Michael Cagle of Texarkana, Ark.; one daughter, Ashley Marie Cagle of Texarkana, Ark.; his mother, Bonnie Cagle of Plumerville; three brothers, Randy Cagle of Conway, Neil and Shawn Cagle, both of Plumerville; two sisters, Anita Mabry of Jacksonville, Fla., and Cynthia Reynolds of Plumerville;
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Morrilton First Assembly officiated by the Rev. Ronnie Freeman.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christian Motorcyclists Association of Conway, P. O. Box 1682, Conway, Ark. 72033.
Arrangements are by Bob Neal and Sons, Morrilton.
Pat Moore
Pat Moore, 62, of Perryville died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002.
Survivors include her husband, Sonny Moore; two children, Darla Martini and Steve Moore; three brothers; father; and five grandchildren.
Funeral service was Tuesday at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Harmony Cemetery on Highway 10.
Betty McCoy
Betty Jeffries McCoy, age 79, of Huntersville, North Carolina, passed away Nov. 17, 2002.
She was born March 26, 1923, a daughter of the late Tom and Nellie Jeffries. Mrs. McCoy was born in Fredrick, Oklahoma and spent most of her life in Rogers, Arkansas. She was the widow of William R. “Bill” McCoy, a homemaker, and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary McCoy and Pat McCoy and grandson Austin Hill, all of Huntersville, North Carolina.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at the Harris Chapel with Mr. Julian Reynolds officiating. Burial was at Grandview Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Pallbearers were John Moll, Tim McCoy, Dan McCoy, Billy Dan McCoy, Curtis Hill, and Wallace Fort.
Willie Lee Joyner
Willie Lee Thornton Joyner, age 83, of Morrilton, Arkansas, died Saturday, November 30, 2002.
She was born January 4, 1919, in Buckville, Arkansas, in Garland County, a daughter of Robert Lee and Eula Roper Thornton.
Mrs. Joyner was a retired kindergarten secretary from Stuttgart School district, an active member of the Morrilton First Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, and an Eastern Star past Worthy Matron. She was a member of Morrilton Country Club, a member of the Women’s Golf Association where she was an avid golfer and won many honors as a golfer, a former secretary for Arkansas Women’s Golf Association, and member of the Adelaide Club. Mrs. Joyner was also a volunteer for many charitable organizations and events and was an election poll worker at Reynolds School for 15 years.
Survivors include her spouse of 64 years, Don E. Joyner, of Morrilton; sister, Dana Thornton Simpson of Greeley, Colorado; nephews, Bob Dozier of Little Rock, Eugene Dozier of Hot Springs, Robert Thornton of Houston, Texas, and Don Simpson of Olathe, Kansas; nieces, Judy Banz of Greeley, Colorado and Shirley Ertel of Orange Vale, California.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 3, at Harris Chapel with Dr. Bill Brown officiating. Burial was at Forest Hills Cemetery in Alexander, Arkansas, by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. Pallbearers were Ray Hanson, Leon Dunn, Sam Callihan, Bill Stacks, Bill Hubbard, and Harry Caldwell.
Memorials may be made to the Morrilton First Baptist Church.
Norma Diehlman
Norma Evelyn Elliott Diehlman, 85, of Oppelo died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001.
She was born Oct. 2, 1915, in New Castle, Ind., a daughter of Ford Wood Elliott and Winona Lizar Elliott. Mrs. Diehlman was the widow of Maynard Joseph Diehlman and was a member of Morrilton Baptist Temple.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Houston of Rossville, Ind., and Winona Adams of Oppelo; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral services were 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Harris Chapel with the Rev. Ray Owen officiating. Burial was at Dale Cemetery in Connersville, Ind. Arrangements were by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
