Mark Baker
Mark Baker, age 48, of Stamps, Arkansas died Monday, June 21, 2004 at his residence. He was born December 10, 1955 in Lewisville, Arkansas.
Mr. Baker was a member of First United Methodist Church in Stamps and a butcher for Petrey's Grocery in Stamps for many years. He was preceded in death by: his mother, Betty Jean Baker; his sister, Daphne Baker; and his wife, Lynn Baker.
He is survived by: his father Harold Baker of Stamps; step-daughter Nicole Baker of Stamps; grandchild Katie Cruse of Stamps; a host of other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 26, 2004 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Rev. Michael Gordon officiating and burial in Lakeside Cemetery in Stamps under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
Ashley Magee
Ashley Magee, age 21, of Garland, AR died on Saturday, June 19, 2004 in Garland. She was born January 19, 1983 to Perry and Johnnie Magee of Garland.
Surivors include: her parents; one sister, Rhonda Magee of Chicago, IL; two brothers, Perry Magee of Texarkana, AR and Michael Magee of Magnolia, AR.
Services were held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 26, 2004 at Lanesport Baptist Church in Garland with Rev. Billy Ray Mayfield officiating and burial in Wynn Cemetery in Garland.
Minnie White
Minnie White, age 66 of Texarkana, Arkansas died Thursday, June 17, 2004 at her residence. She was born March 11, 1937 in Buckner, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by: her parents, K.C. Jones and Ethel Mae Brown Bradley; two sons, Andrew Mask and Wilbert Smith; two brothers, Charles Bradley and O.C. Jones.
Survivors include: four daughters, Cora Rone Beasley of Texarkana, TX, Lila Mack of Newport, AR, Donna Mack and Crystal Gipson, both of Augusta, GA; three sons, Bennie Smith of Washington, NC, Rickey White of Grady, AR and Ollie White of Texarkana, AR; three sisters, Bessie Williams of Buckner, AR, Joann Smeater of Houston, TX and Flora Britten of Hot Springs, AR; four brothers, Arthur Bradley of Houston, TX, Alonzo Bradley of Stamps, AR, Hervey Bradley of Magnolia, AR and Felix Ray Sanders of Modesto, CA.
Services were held at Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. C.K. Yarber officiating.
Cecil Ervin Spivey, Sr.
Cecil Ervin Spivey, Sr., age 71, of Buckner, Arkansas died Saturday, September 18, 2004 at St. Michael's Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. He was born April 23, 1933 in Buckner. Mr. Spivey had retired from Alumax in Magnolia, AR.
He is survived by: his wife, Erma Spivey of Buckner; daughter, Carolyn Leslie of Humnoke, AR; son, Cecil Spivey, Jr. of Buckner; brother, Huey Spivey of Buckner; sister, Ina Ruth Fox of Virginia; grandchildren, Charles Leslie, Jr., Charity Noblitt, Benjamin Spivey and Garrett Spivey; five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, September 20, 2004 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps officiated by Rev. Charles Warren with burial in the Buckner Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
Murry Cox
Murry Cox, age 88, of Lewisville, Arkansas died Saturday, September 18, 2004 at the V.A. Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana. Mr. Cox was born in Lafayette County on December 20, 1915. He was a farmer and drove a school bus for the Lewisville Public Schools for 30 years. Mr. Cox was a member of the Lewisville Church of Christ and a World War II Veteran.
Survivors include: his wife of 60 years, Helen Cox of Lewisville; two sons, Jerry & Mary Cox of Buckner, AR and Gary Cox of Lewisville; one brother, Lon Cox, Jr. of Dallas, TX; four sisters, Francis Shipp, Doretta Foresight and Cora Ponish, all of Texarkana, TX, and Elvira Fain of Stamps, AR; two granddaughters, Camille & Jeff Barton of Buckner and Stacy & Terry Vansickle of Village, AR; four great grandchildren, Brittany & Jonathon Barton of Buckner and Ashley & Cole Scott of Village.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, September 20, 2004 at the Wilson Cemetery in Lewisville with Mickey May officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
Audrey L. Barnett
Audrey L. Barnett, age 88, of Bradley, AR died Saturday, September 18, 2004 in Texarkana, Texas. She was born February 4, 1916 in Ida, LA.
Survivors include daughter, Wanda Pearl Steed of Texarkana; son, Jerry Glen Barnett & daughter-in-law of Austin, TX; three sisters, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, numerous other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 19, 2004 at the Red River Baptist Church in Bradley officiated by Bro. Gerald Cheney with burial in the Walnut Hill Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps, AR.
Richard Nix
Richard Nix, age 58, of Lewisville, Arkansas died Friday, September 17, 2004 in St. Michael's Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. He was born November 5, 1945 in Texarkana, Texas. Mr. Nix was a member of The Garland United Methodist Church, a retired public school teacher and retired from the Lewisville Public Schools after thirty years of dedicated service. He also taught at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope, Arkansas for five additional years.
He is survived by: his wife, Beverly Nix of Lewisville; mother, Sarah Pauline Nix of Lewisville; brother & sister-in-law, James & Lucille Nix of Lonoke, AR; four sisters & two brothers-in-law, Inez & Lloyd Bariola of Tontitown, AR, Helen Brown of Hope, AR, Joyce Jordan of Hope, and Dorothy & Shorty Cutchall of Lewisville; a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, September 19, 2004 at Wilson Cemetery in Lewisville with Bro. Lane Garner officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, AR.
Nodie Conelia (Jackie) Johnston
Nodie Conelia (Jackie) Johnston, age 82, of Stamps, Arkansas died Friday, September 17, 2004 in Ashdown, Arkansas. She was born April 9, 1922 in Plain Dealing, Louisiana. Mrs. Johnston had retired from the Lafayette County Hospital in Lewisville, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Johnston.
Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Debra & Jimmy Downs of Stamps, AR; step-daughter, Peggy Smith of Rockvale, TN; brothers, Calvin May of Spartanburg, SC, J.T. May of Shreveport, LA and Wilburn May of Magnolia, AR; sisters, Mildred May of Stamps, Ruth Lambert of Waldo, AR, Myrtle Lambert of Alvin, TX, Annabelle Guilbert of Ashdown, AR and Myrtis Mouser of Locksburg, AR; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
