Doris Briehn
Doris Briehn, age 91, of Stamps, Arkansas died Thursday, December 15, 2005 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She was born June 18, 1914 in Magnolia, Arkansas. Mrs. Briehn was a member of the Stamps Presbyterian Church where she was Secretary and Treasurer for many years. She and her husband were the owners of The R.C. & Nehi Plant in Stamps for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Briehn and by a grandson, Jeffry Neal.
She is survived by: her daughter, Bobbye Lynn Hildre of Hot Springs; three grandchildren, Rhonda Lynn Pasquan, Kris Briehn Hildre and Doris Helen Chellini; eight great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 18, 2005 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dana Casey officiating and burial in Lakeside Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
Tommy Ray (Tom) Moffett
Tommy Ray (Tom) Moffett, age 46, of Stamps, Arkansas died Wednesday, December 14, 2005. He was born February 14, 1959 in Lake Providence, LA. Mr. Moffett was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Springhill, Arkansas and was Maintenance Supervisor for E.Z. Mart, Inc., for fourteen years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Moffett in 1994.
He is survived by: his father, Billy R. Moffett of Stamps; sister and brother-in-law, Melinda & Kevin Morehead of Bodcaw, AR; nephew, Justin Butcher; three nieces, Kaylee, Jordan and Chelsea Morehead; numerous cousins; a special friend, Patty Stuhr.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, December 17, 2005 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Rev. Ernie Sorrells and Rev. James Moffett officiating and burial in Bethany Cemetery in Springhill, Arkansas under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
Betty Lou Modisette
Betty Lou Modisette, age 58, of Stamps, Arkansas died Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at the Medical Park Hospital in Hope, Arkansas. She was born March 23, 1947 in Patmos, Arkansas. Mrs. Modisette was a homemaker and a member of The Lewisville Church of Christ.
She is survived by: two sons & daughters-in-law, Jerry & Dee Dee Modisette of Shongaloo, LA and Tim & Sandra Kaye Modisette of Springhill, LA; brother, Gary Adcock of Lewisville, AR; five sisters, Louise Ratliff of England, AR, Lilly Clark of Enid, OK, Linda Cole, Doris Cheatham and Patsy Adcock, all of Stamps; seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 am on Friday, December 16, 2005 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Rev. David Formby officiating and burial in Sardis New Hope Cemetery between Patmos and Hope under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
Lady Grace Wilson
Lady Grace Wilson, age 85, of Lewisville, Arkansas died Sunday, December 11, 2005 in her home on Green Acres Ranch, Lafayette County, Arkansas. She was born February 28, 1920 on Joella Plantation, Lewisville, Arkansas to the late Joseph C. and Ella Russell May. Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker, received her B.A. from Henderson University and M.A. in music from Peabody University, Nashville, Tennessee. She was active in The First Methodist Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where she served as president of the W.S.C.S. She served as president of The Good Earth Garden Club in Hot Springs and president of The Arkansas Federation of Garden Clubs. She was an active member of Chapter AP of P.E.O..
She is survived by: her husband, Billy G. Wilson of Lewisville; son, Billy E. Wilson of Malvern, AR; sister, Marjorie M. Phillips of Fayetteville, AR; two granddaughters, Joella Wilson of Gainesville, FL and Laura Kinsman of Williamsburg, VA; one great granddaughter, Kendall Kinsman of Williamsburg, VA.
Graveside services were held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at Wilson Cemetery in Lewisville with Rev. Russell Bailey officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
Lois Elizabeth Russell
Lois Elizabeth Russel, age 81, of Stamps, Arkansas passed away Saturday, December 10, 2005 at the Magnolia City Hospital. She was born July 2, 1924 in McCaskill, Arkansas. Mrs. Russell was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Stamps. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Willy and Mary Long; two brothers, Harry and Andrew Long; and one sister, Esther Boyd.
She is survived by: one son, Wayne "Bubba" Russell of Magnolia, AR; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Billy Vickers of Magnolia and Betty and Jimmy Storar of Shreveport, LA; six grandchildren, Sharon Storar Wiggins, Todd Vickers, Russ Storar, Bryan Russell, Brad Russell, and Chris Russell; three great grandsons, Cody Russell, Zachary Wiggins, and Klein Vickers.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 12, 2005 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps officiated by Rev. Charles Walthall and Rev. Michael Gordon with burial in Falcon Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
Frances Barnes Blanton
Frances Barnes Blanton, age 81, of Springhill, Louisiana died Friday, December 9, 2005 in Magnolia, Arkansas. She was born January 26, 1924 in Taylor, Arkansas. Mrs. Blanton was retired from Firestone and Amfuel in Magnolia, a member of The First Baptist Church in Taylor and was preceded in death by her first husband, J.H. Parker.
She is survived by: her husband, Winston Blanton of Springhill, LA; one daughter, Karen Wiley of Magnolia; two sons, Larry parker and Michael Parker, both of Magnolia; two sisters, Verna Paul of Taylor and Lucy Gallegly of Little Rock, AR; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 am on Monday, December 12, 2005 at The First Baptist Church in Taylor with burial in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Columbia County, Arkansas under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
Bulah B. Bland
Bulah B. Bland, age 82, of Taylor, Arkansas died Thursday, December 8, 2005 at the Springhill Medical Center in Springhill, Louisiana. She was born October 14, 1923 in McKamie, Arkansas. Mrs. Bland was a homemaker, a lifetime resident of The Walker Creek Community and a member of The Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Bland and by her parents.
She is survived by: two daughters, June Teague of Walker Creek, AR and Jane Bland of Taylor, AR; a very special aunt, Artie "Dood" Glasgow; three grandchildren, John Pickett and Liz Scott, both of Walker Creek and Stephanie Snider of Taylor; five great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 10, 2005 at the Mars Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Cleo Paul officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps, AR.
Christine McGlothin
Christine McGlothin, 83, of Bradley, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005 at her residence. She was born March 1, 1922 in Bradley to the late Bobby Breakfield and Nettie Crudup. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Dawson Breakfield; one sister, Alice Jackson; one son, Samuel Jackson; and six grandchildren.
She is survived by four sons, George Johnson of Englewood, Ohio, Al Martin of Los Angeles, Calif., Robert Martin of Dayton, Ohio and Dawson Martin of Jackson, Miss.; sisters, Lizzie Harris of Dallas and Minnie Robinson of Muskegon, Mich.; brother, L.C. Breakfield of Texarkana, Ark.; 26 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2005 at Bumpham Springs Baptist Church in Bradley with Rev. Chester Grant officiating. Burial following in the St. Mary Cemetery in Bradley under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
