Gary Don Morehead
Gary Don Morehead, age 60, of Bodcaw, Arkansas died Saturday, May 17, 2008 at his residence. He was born June 10, 1947 in Bodcaw to Bruce & Mary Clark Morehead. Mr. Morehead worked at Tim's Grocery Store in Lewisville, Arkansas for 26 years before going to CMC Steel in Magnolia, Arkansas. He enjoyed working in hayfields and with his cows. He was a war veteran who served in the U.S. Army. He also hosted 21 exchange students from different countries in his home. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Bruce & Mary Clark; brother, Denver Morehead; and a granddaughter, Kristen Russell.
He is survived by: his wife of 41 years, Eva Jean Foster Morehead of Bodcaw; son & daughter-in-law, Dwayne & Chasity Morehead of Bodcaw; daughters & sons-in-law, Sandy & Jeff Russell of Bodcaw, and Cheryl & Kevin Atkinson of Conway, AR; brothers & sisters-in-law, William & Imojean Morehead of Mt. Enterprise, TX and Charles & Reba Morehead of Bodcaw; sister & brother-in-law, Sharon & Terry Hanson of Waldo, AR; grandchildren, Matt Russell, Derek Morehead, Kaitlin Russell, Stephanie Atkinson, Dakota Atkinson, Madison Atkinson, Sarah Atkinson, Raeleigh Morehead & Josh Atkinson; one granddaughter-in-law, Ashlee Glasscock; three uncles & five aunts and a special Army buddy, Donald & Maxine Pitts of Panama City, FL; as well as many other family and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with burial in Shiloh Methodist Cemetery in Falcon, AR with Bro. Byron Mann and Bro. Arlie Kyzer officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rush Rowell
Mrs. Rush Rowell, age 84, of Texarkana, Texas formerly of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Corpus Christi, Texas died Friday, May 2, 2008 at St. Michael's Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. She was born April 1, 1924 in Asheville, North Carolina. Mrs. Rowell was a former member of the Tulsa Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, Wesley Fellowship Class, Corpus Christi First United Methodist Church, Jenny Hill Cooper Class and a member of the Corpus Christi Rotary and PEO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lizzie Fisher and by her husband of 54 years, Earl G. Rowell./a>.
She is survived by: a daughter & son-in-law, Peggy & Jerry Pulliam of Lewisville, AR; son & daughter-in-law, Ron and Karen Rowell of Round Rock, TX; six grandchildren, Barbara Gourd of Blytheville, AR, Brooks Rowell of Pflugerville, TX, Travis Rowell of Cedar Park, TX, Sarah Pulliam of Mesquite, TX, Mark Pulliam of Alma, AR and Leslie Beauregard of California, Maryland; eleven great grandchildren, Dustin Shaw, Kali Shaw, Ridge Rowell, Rylan Rowell, Katie Rodriguez, Kaitlyn Rodriguez, Nicholas Rodriguez, Jarek Pulliam, Miranda Pulliam, Monica Beauregard, and Sabrina Beauregard; numerous family members and friends, and three special ladies, Shirley Cowan, Juanita Wilson and Kim Howard.
Memorial services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 17, 2008 in the Chapel of Cowhorn Creek Estates at 5415 Cowharn Creek Road, Texarkana, Texas with Rev. Donny Holt and Rev. Jerry Pulliam officiating. Burial will be in Corpus Christi, Texas at a later date.

Mildred J. May
Mildred J. May, age 87, of Stamps, Arkansas died Friday, April 25, 2008 at the Magnolia Hospital in Magnolia, Arkansas. She was born April 15, 1921 in Plain Dealing, Louisiana. Mrs. May was a homemaker, member of the Canfield Baptist Church and a member of the Home Demonstration Club of Canfield. She was preceded in death by: her parents, James and Lonie May; two brothers, Cordell May and Calvin May; and by two sisters, Nodie Johnston and Ann Collier Guilbert.
She is survived by: two brothers, J.T. May of Shreveport, LA and Wilburn May of Magnolia, AR; three sisters, Mary Ruth Lambeth of Waldo, AR, Myrtis Mouser of Lockesburg, AR and Myrtle Lambeth of Alvin, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 am on Monday, April 28, 2008 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with burial in Salem Cemetery between Springhill and Plain Dealing, Louisiana under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
Jack Lamar Reynolds
Jack Lamar Reynolds, age 80, of Taylor, Arkansas died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at the Life Touch Hospice in El Dorado, Arkansas. He was born September 2, 1927. Mr. Reynolds was retired from the U.S. Navy and a member of Comments Council at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Springhill, Louisiana.
He is survived by: three sons, Robert Reynolds of Elfahon, CA, Roy Doson of Eugene, OR, and Grey Doson of Porter, TX; three daughters, Jackie Dison of Magnolia, AR, Patricia Bonner of California and Virginia Lee Jarnerson of California; brother in Christ, Navy partner and life long friend, Darrell Clements; twenty-one grandchildren; beloved granddaughter, Raven Woolf of Magnolia, AR.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Springhill, Louisiana with burial in Taylor Memorial Cemetery at Taylor, Arkansas under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
Henry Titus Black
Henry Titus Black, 64, of Vega, died Monday, April 21, 2008. Services were at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2008 in Vega at the United Methodist Church with Reverend Sammie Ellis, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Vega. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers at Vega.
Mr. Black was born on December 13, 1943 in Hope, Arkansas to Gladys and Thorold Black. He attended Stamps High School, the University of Arkansas Law School and earned his Bachelors degree in History from Southern Arkansas University. He was an accomplished musician in piano, banjo, cornet, and organ. He was an organist for the Stamps, Arkansas First United Methodist Church prior to his move to west Texas. He had worked for Oldham County for over 10 years, currently as the county auditor. Henry was a Ford dealer for years in Arkansas and had served as the school board president for the Stamps, Arkansas school district. Mr. Black was a member of Vega United Methodist Church and Vega Kiwanis Club. He was also a member of the collegiate fraternity Acacia, a past Mason and member of the Kiwanis of Vega, Texas. He married Karen Moore in 1980 at Stamps, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife, Karen, of the home; three daughters, Elizabeth “Brandy” Ester and husband Phil of Enid, Oklahoma, Amanda Paige Keeney and husband Ben of Texarkana, Arkansas, Adrienne Jane Hurtt and husband David of Amarillo; two sons, Karey McKinley Black and wife Dayna of Amarillo, Chad Morris of Hope, Arkansas; four and a half grandchildren, Robert Brandon Ross of Enid, Oklahoma, Abigail Hurtt of Amarillo, McKinley Black of Amarillo, Whitney Rachel Ester of Enid, Oklahoma, and the awaited birth of a baby boy Keeney by daughter Amanda, and a host of special cousins and friends in Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma.
Betty Lou Rogers
Betty Lou Rogers, age 77, of Stamps, Arkansas died Monday, April 21, 2008 at the Pinehope Health & Rehab in Hope, Arkansas. She was born September 17, 1930 in Stamps. Ms. Rogers was a retired Superintendent Secretary of the Stamps Public Schools, a lifetime member of the Sardis Methodist Church where she was the pianist for more than 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Rogers and Pearly Wheelington Cook Rogers and other relatives.
She is survived by: four nieces, Virginia Covington of Buckner, AR, Donna Brewer of Hope, AR, Frieda Knighton of Stamps and Mary Helen Simmons; two nephews, Doug May of Mountain Pine, AR and Merrill Rogers of Stamps; numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at the Sardis Cemetery north of Stamps with Rev. Charles Walthall officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
Ernestine Marie Goodwin
Ernestine Marie Goodwin, age 87, of Lewisville, Arkansas went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 after a valiant battle with dementia. She was born June 20, 1920 in Prairie County, Arkansas. Mrs. Goodwin was a homemaker and was preceded in death by: her parents, Ernest and Susie Evans; brother, Billy Gene Evans; daughter, Judy Kitchens; and by her husband of 63 years, Robert Goodwin.
She is survived by: daughter, Bobbie Coker of Lewisville; daughter & son-in-law, Mary Helen and Brice Feasel of Hooks, TX; son-in-law, Steve Kitchens of Lewisville; two brothers, Carl Evans & wife Novel and Everett Evans & wife Willie; eight grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren; special Loved One, Sharron Jamerson of Lewisville; a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 11, 2008 at the Lakeside Cemetery in Stamps with Cindy Whittington officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
Lois Faye Ward
Lois Faye Ward, age 79, of Texarkana, Arkansas died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Wadley Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. She was born March 12, 1929 in Wells, Texas. Mrs. Ward was an Insurance Agent and was preceded in death by a daughter, Loretta Jane Ward.
She is survived by: her husband of 60 years, Jewell Ward of Texarkana, AR; five brothers and sisters; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
