Frances Carolyn Hudgens, age 70, of McNeil, Arkansas died Monday, February 4, 2008 at Christus St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Mrs. Hudgens was born December 10, 1937 in Lewisville, Arkansas. She retired from Walmart and was a Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Olin & Beatrice Burns; brother, Glendon Burns; brother-in-law, Edward Barton.
Survivors include: husband, William Hudgens of McNeil; two daughters, Kim Faul & husband Terry, Holly Paris & friend Brent Labove, all of Lake Charles, LA; sister, Gwen Barton Powell & husband Bill of Lewisville; sister-in-law, Louise Burns of Lewisville; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Clifford & Ann Russell of Stamps, AR; stepchildren, Cody & Lee Hudgens of Magnolia, AR; grandchildren, Brooke Faul & Brandon Faul of Lake Charles; great grandchild, Adrien Faul of Lake Charles; special friends Ray & Emily Fontenot of Iowa, LA.
Graveside services were held at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Wilson Cemetery in Lewisville with Bro. Harold Freeman officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
Clara E. (Betty) Corbett
Mrs. Clara Corbett, age 89, of Lewisville, Arkansas passed away Sunday, February 2, 2008 at Homestead Manor in Stamps, Arkansas. She was born March 23, 1918 in Hayward, Oklahoma. Mrs. Corbett was a member of the Knighton's Chapel Baptist Church in Lewisville. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Corbett, a son, James A. Corbett, Jr., and her parents, James and Carrie Nichols Rhodes.
She is survived by: three sons, David Corbett of Lewisville, Marvin Eugene Corbett of Hope, AR, and Richard Wayne Corbett of Ray City, GA; one daughter, Thelma Lee Heffel of Hooks, TX; numerous grandchildren and several great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Smith Funeral Home in Stamps with Rev. Bill Delany officiating and burial in Wilson Cemetery in Lewisville under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
Dannie David Pickard
Dannie David Pickard, age 52, of Queen City, Texas died Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Good Shepherd Medical Center in Linden, Texas. He was born January 11, 1956 in Magnolia, Arkansas. Mr. Pickard loved music and gardening and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Cullen, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his father, Dannie Pickard, Sr. and by two brothers, Mark Pickard and Victor Picard.
He is survived by: his mother, Maxine Pickard of Queen City; son, Donnie Pickard of Queen City; his fiance`, Missy Jones; numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 1, 2008 at the Stateline Cemetery at Taylor, Arkansas under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
James Corbett
James Corbett, age 92, of Lewisville, Arkansas passed away Monday, January 28, 2008 at Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas. He was born November 18, 1915 in Athens, Texas. Mr. Corbett was a member of Knighton's Chapel Baptist Church of Lewisville. He was a truck driver. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Myrtle Corbett and a son, James A. Corbett.
He is survived by: his wife, Clara E. Corbett of Lewisville; three sons, David Corbett of Lewisville, Marvin Eugene Corbett of Hope, AR and Richard Wayne Corbett of Ray City, GA; one daughter, Thelma Lee Heffel of Hooks, TX; three sisters, Helen Brown of Palestine, TX, Lelia Zbora of Brain, TX and Hazel Lausch of Mile City, MT; numerous grandchildren and several great grandchildren, a host of friends and other relatives.

Ray Rader
Ray Rader, age 63, of Buckner, Arkansas died Friday, January 25, 2008 at the Magnolia Hospital in Magnolia, Arkansas. He was born May 17, 2944 in Buckner. Mr. Rader was a retired truck driver and was preceded in death by his father, Edward Hollis Rader and by a brother, Harold Rader.
He is survived by: the mother of his children, Stephanie Rader of Buckner; two sons, Danny Rader & wife Reba of Russellville, AR and Scottie Rader & wife Carla of Buckner; daughter, Shelia Adams & husband Robby of Centerville, AR; mother, Adell Rader Belk of Stamps, AR; sister, Sara Jane Hill of Haughton, LA; ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, special family friend Michael Morehead of Buckner, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 28, 2008 at Shiloh Cemetery north of Stamps with Rev. Andy Hawkins officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.
Patricia Griffin
Patricia Griffin, age 68, of Lewisville, Arkansas died Thursday, January 24, 2008 at St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. She was born January 15, 1940 in Hope, Arkansas. Mrs. Griffin was a homemaker that devoted her life to her children, her grandson and the rest of her family. She passed away from heart and kidney complications. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vestal and Syble Maxwell, her husband, Steve Elwyn Griffin, brothers, Jimmy Maxwell and Gordon Irvin and by her sister, Barbara Estes.
She is survived by: a son, Steven Samuel Griffin of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Stephanie Jan Griffin of Lewisville; sisters, Carloyn Hicks & husband Bob of Hope, AR and Linda Hastings & husband Phil of Camden, AR; grandson, Patrick Ryan Griffin of Lewisville.

Jack Redifer Cherry
Jack Redifer Cherry, age 79, of Taylor, Arkansas died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Willis Knighton Hospital in Bossier City, Louisiana. He was born September 7, 1928 in Reeder, Arkansas. Mr. Cherry served his country in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps and was a retired millwright and boilermaker. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Pearl and Marion Hoss Cherry and by three brothers, Ishmale, Thomas and David Earl Cherry and by a sister, Marion.
He is survived by: his wife, Shirley Cherry of Taylor; three daughters, Kathy Nolan & husband Leon of Ivanhoe, TX, Teresa Glazer & husband Bruce of Louisville, CO, and Barbara Austin of Falcon, AR; three sons, Rodney Cherry & wife Demetris of Magnolia, AR, Douglas Cherry & wife Nancy of Texarkana, AR and Jack Mize & wife Susan of Denison, TX; fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with burial in Shiloh Cemetery at Falcon, Arkansas under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
Syble O. Franklin
Syble O. Franklin, age 82, of Garland, Arkansas died Sunday, January 20, 2008 at St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. She was born July 6, 1925 in Louisiana. Ms. Franklin owned and operated a cafe in Garland, Arkansas for many years and was a member of the Bpatist Church in Garland. She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, and a nephew.
She is survived by: two sisters, Mae Bell Brown of Texarkana, AR and Geneva Bear of Hope, AR; two sisters-in-law, Martha Franklin of Garland and Betty Lou Franklin of Waldo, AR; a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Falcon Cemetery north of Stamps with Rev. Phelan Boone officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
