Thurman Teague

Thurman Teague, age 84, of Stamps, Arkansas died Thursday, August 17, 2006 at the Homestead Manor Nursing Home in Stamps. He was born November 6, 1921 in Buckner, Arkansas to the late Carl and Mary Teague.

Mr. Teague was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stamps, Masonic Lodge #121, Order of The Eastern Star #415, former Stamps City Councilman and retired from Stamps School District. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Dorothy Teague; son, Donnie Teague; twin brother, Herman Teague; and several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by: daughter & son-in-law, Nancy & Thomas Nix of Stamps; son & daughter-in-law, Lonnie & Sandy Teague of Buckner, AR; brother, Carl Teague, Jr., of Hot Springs, AR; sisters, Lynda Knighton, Clara Festervan, and Betty Allen, all of Texarkana, Shirley Steadman of Shreveport, LA, and Marguerite Harbour of Magnolia, AR; grandchildren, John Nix, Jake Nix, Lonnie Teague, Jr., Jason Teague, Christy Husted and Trisha Munoz; seven great grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at Lakeside Cemetery with Rev. Mike Turner officiating under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.

Barbara Joyce Bobo

Barbara Joyce Bobo, age 50, of Hope, Arkansas died Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at the Medical Park Hospital in Hope. She was born March 13, 1956 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Mrs. Bobo was a nurse and a member of the Anderson Baptist Church at Springhill, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Goodwin, Jr., a son, James Marvin Russell, and a granddaughter, Courtney Goodwin.

She is survived by: her husband, Mike Bobo of Hope; mother, Mary Jo Gregory of Bodcaw, AR; son, Jason Goodwin of Springhill, AR; step-son, Charlie Bobo of Springhill, AR; step-daughter, Melissa martin of Laneburg, AR; brother, Gary Goodwin of Magnolia, AR; four step-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 4, 2006 at Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, Arkansas with Rev. Gary Goodwin and Rev. Jerry Evans officiating and burial in Union Cemetery at Bodcaw, Arkansas under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.

Dr. Robert H. Harrison

Dr. Robert H. Harrison, age 84, of Houston, Texas died Saturday, July 29, 2006. He was born April 28, 1922 in Lockesburg, Arkansas. He was a graduate of Lockesburg High School, the then Henderson State Teachers' College, and the University of Arkansas School of Medicine. He practiced Family Medicine in Lewisville, Arkansas from 1948 until 1962; then, after a residency at UAMS, he practiced Psychiatry in Texarkana and Little Rock. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Roy and Lucy Hull Harrison, and by his sister, Ruth Harrison Bales.

He is survived by: a son, David H. Harrison and his wife Inez; two daughters, Katherine Harrison and her husband Clyde Watkins, and Jane Harrison Lowy and her husband David Lowy; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Jennie Stidham

Jennie Stidham, age 96, of Bradley, Arkansas died Saturday, July 29, 2006 at the Springhill Medical Center in Springhill, Louisiana. She was born September 20, 1909 in Arkana, Louisiana. Mrs. Stidham was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Stidham and three sons, Glen Newton, Homer Stidham and James Elbert Newton.

Survivors include: two daughters, Edith Jones and Jessie Loe Caskey, both of Taylor, AR; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 31, 2006 at the First Baptist church in Bradley, Arkansas with burial following in the Walnut Hill Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.

James Delane (Jim) Freeze

James Delane (Jim) Freeze of Texarkana, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2006. He was born September 28, 1921 in Cleveland, Oklahoma to James E. and Lula Freeze. He proudly served as Captain, pilot, and flight instructor in the United States Marine Corp in WWII. Jim has been an active member of the Methodist Church, a former member of the First United Methodist Church, Texarkana, AR and was a charter member of Sugar Hill United Methodist Church in Texarkana. He retired as Chief Financial Officer of St. Michael Hospital in 1985. His love for flying, his patriotism, and his commitment and service to his country reflected the character he showed in all aspects of his life. Jim leaves a legacy of kindness, honesty, hard work, love, and commitment to his friends and family. A friend described Jim as "the epitome of a Southern Gentleman" and truly a member of the "greatest generation". He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Survivors include: wife of 54 years, Harriette Whatley Freeze of Texarkana; two children, David Freeze & wife Sonya of Texarkana and Debbie Brown & husband David Austin of Little Rock; four grandchildren, Julie & Kathryn Freeze of Texarkana and Nolan & Lana Brown of Little Rock; one sister, Melba Krauleidis of Perry, OK.

Graveside services were held at 10:00 am on Monday, July 31, 2006 at the Wilson Cemetery in Lewisville, Arkansas under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.

Paul Babb (P.B.) Woodridge

Paul Babb (P.B.) Woodridge of Lewisville, Arkansas passed away on July 25 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Hampton, Arkansas on August 29, 1915. The family moved to Camden, Arkansas when he was six months old. He grew up in Camden where he graduated from Camden High School and later attended the UA at Fayetteville. He was retired from the Cotton Belt Railroad after forty-four years of service. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Dr. Walter B. and Alice Wooldridge; one brother, Prince Wooldridge; and two sons, Paul B. Wooldridge Jr. and Dennis E. Wooldridge.

He is survived by: his wife of forty-five years, Betty Ann Wooldridge; two daughters and spouses, Betty L. and David Wilson of Magnolia, Arkansas and Alice M. and Steve Kiefer of Little Rock, Arkansas; one son and wife, John R. and Sandy Smith if Hillsboro, MO; seven grandchildren, Kaitlyn Caskey, John Paul Caskey, Tully Wilson, Brittney Kiefer, Brandon Kiefer, Greg Smith, Sreeja Smith and Shane Wooldridge; five great grandchildren.

Memorial service was to be held at Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville, Missouri.

Ann Kimbell Herring

Ann Kimbell Herring, age 82, of Baldwin, Louisiana died Monday, July 24, 2006 at the Franklin Foundation Hospital. She was born March 13, 1924 in Waldo, Arkansas. Mrs. Herring was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Herring and by two brothers, Billy Kimbell and Roy Kimbell.

She is survived by: her husband, Herbert M. Herring of Baldwin, LA; one son, Kim Herring of Franklin, LA; one brother, Paul Kimbell of Waldo, AR; three sisters, Tine Puska of El Dorado, AR, Sybil Gaskill of Harrison, AR and Alice Jean Kimbell of Little Rock, AR.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Rev. Jim Gaskill officiating and burial in Lakeside Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Stamps.

Franklin Pete Adams

Franklin Pete Adams, 88, of Blossom, Texas, formerly of Bradley, Arkansas died Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Paris Regional Medical Center in Paris, Texas. Funeral services were held at the Bradley United Methodist Church in Bradley, Arkansas at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 with Rev. Spencer Plumley officiating under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. Burial followed in Walnut Hill Cemetery.

He was born October 14, 1917 in Shreveport, Louisiana a son of Franklin Pierce and Bessie Stewart Adams. He was married to Frances mathis and then later married Lucille Madden. He was retired from the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in which he was a parachutist and later went to work for the civil service. He was also Treasurer for Collin County. He was a faithful and loyal member of Bradley United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: four children, Sarah Beasley and husband Rob of Blossom, Elizabeth Driver of Weatherford, TX, Jerry Madden and wife Barbara of Richardson, TX and Pat Housel and husband Allen of Richardson; nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; aunt, W. Eva Adams of Bradley; and numerous cousins.
