Ponnie Flewellen
Ponnie Louise Flewellen, 70, of Casa died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001.
She was born Jan. 6, 1931, in the Cherry Hill community, a daughter of Henry Irvin Brown and Mary Emerson Brown. She was the widow of David E. Bewley and Luther Melvin Flewellen. Mrs. Flewellen was a nurse’s aide at St. Mary’s Hospital and member of Ola Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, David E. Bewley of Russellville, Randy Bewley of Casa and James F. Bewley of Little Rock; three brothers, James Brown of Perryville, Joe Brown of Russellville and Charles Brown of Hollis; four sisters, Bernice Shumate of Morrilton, Dorothy Tillery of Clovis, N.M., Betty Parham and Dora Johnson, both of Russellville; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Monday at the Ola Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Denver Robinson and Bro. Geno Johnston officiating. Burial was at Cherry Hill Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Pallbearers were Danny Price, Russell Price, Kenneth Ivey, Marvin Mashburn, John David Keeling, and Lawrence Hearing.
DeWitt Scroggin
DeWitt Scroggin, 75, of Scotland died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001.
He was born July 4, 1926, in Springfield, a son of Henry D. Scroggin and Josie Kirtley Scroggin. Mr. Scroggin was retired from the Conway County Road Department.
There were no immediate survivors.
Graveside service was 2 p.m. Monday at Springfield Cemetery with the Rev. Floyd Stell officiating. Arrangements were by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Pallbearers were Verlon Palmer, Ridge Smith, Romie Acton, Gary Harrington, Dickey McClung, and Scott Lovelady.
Ima Phillips
Ima Phillips, 80, of Little Rock died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001.
She was the daughter of Wiley and Delphia Durbin. She was the widow of William Phillips.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Brannon of Romance, Sherry Evans of Heber Springs, Betty Burrow of Little Rock, and Carol Wadley of Sherwood; one brother, Harold Durbin of Kansas; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of Griffin Leggett-Rest Hills Funeral Home with the Revs. Bob and Tony Minick officiating. Burial was at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
Emma Nabholz
Emma Jo Koch Nabholz, 68, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, in Conway.
She was the daughter of Joe Koch and Emma Lineman Koch of Morrilton. She was the widow of Edmund Nabholz. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway Civic League, the 20th Century Club, and the Christian Ladies Society at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include one son, Eddie Nabholz of Conway; two daughters, Rebecca Karonis of Ivyville, Pa., and Linda Johnson of Little Rock; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 11 a.m. Saturday with Father Tom Byrne, CSSP officiating. Burial followed at Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery in Conway.
Joe Hoyt
Joe Hoyt, 93, of Morrilton died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001.
He was born Jan. 2, 1908, in Adona, a son of George and Anna Nord Hoyt. He was the widower of Helen Nagel Hoyt. He was a retired carpenter, member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include sons, Joe Hoyt Jr. of Sheridan, Edd Hoyt of Cabot, Ray Hoyt of Sherwood, and Ron Hoyt of Stuttgart; daughters, Betty Gottsponer of North Little Rock, Mary Ellen Hill and Carolyn Winder, both of Hot Springs, and Vickie Hoyt of Morrilton; two sisters, Matilda Lachowsky of Conway, and Beatrice Velte of Clarksville; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Charles Thessing officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 tonight (Wednesday) with Rosary to follow at 7, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Randy Gottsponer, Harry Gottsponer, Glen Gottsponer, Dale Gottsponer, Doug Nord, and Wilfred Miller.
Mable Everette
Mable Everette, 76, of Morrilton died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001.
She was born Jan. 10, 1925, the daughter of Ezekel Brown and Leola McNeely. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and the widow of James Arthur Everette.
Survivors include eight children, Mable Louise Everette of Inglewood, Calif., Ruth Everette of Morrilton, Margaret Derden of Los Angeles, James Lee Everette Jr. of Maumelle, Bobby Everette of Dardanelle, Barbara Washington Prudhomme of Los Angeles, Danny Everette of Morrilton, and Charles Everette of Little Rock; one stepson, Mickey Jeffers of Morrilton; two sisters, Zenobia Ingram of Morrilton and Everlean Littlejohn of Southfield, Mich., one stepsister, Erma Williams of Los Angeles; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at noon today (Wednesday) at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Plumerville by the Rev. Curtis Irvin. Burial will be at Owens Cemetery by Wilson and Jarrett Funeral Home Inc.
Pallbearers will be John L. Foster, Paul Hall, Jimmy Nelson, Harold Newsome Jr., A.J. Everette, and James D. Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Perry Lou Wallace
Mrs. Perry Lou Wallace, 99, of Paron died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at her home.
She was born on Nov. 5, 1902, in Paron. She was a member of the Buffalo Jesus Name Church in Paron.
Survivors include her son, James Wallace of Benton; daughters, Mary Frances Williams and Betty Abbott, both of Paron; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Buffalo church in Paron. Burial was at Fowler Cemetery by Ashby Funeral Home Inc. Ministers were Andrew Justice and Shirley Jean Zulpo.
Iva Kelsey
Mrs. Iva Kelsey, 95, of Conway died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001.
She was born Dec. 15, 1905, in Conway, a daughter of Dutch and Niece Cheeks. She was a member of Greater Friendship Baptist Church.
There were no immediate survivors.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Friendship Baptist Church by the Revs. J.J. Richardson and Willie Robinson. Burial will be at Friendship Cemetery by Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home, Conway.
Visitation is 4-6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
