Mildred Doss
Mildred Fryer Doss, age 78, of Jerusalem, died Wednesday, January 30, 2002.
She was born March 20, 1923, in Jerusalem, Arkansas, a daughter of William Manie Fryer and Lillie Bell Warren Fryer. Mrs. Doss was the widow of Cleo Doss and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Jimmy Crye of Springfield. She was preceded in death by brothers, Marion Drew Fryer, James Noel Fryer, Gene Lafate Fryer, Ernest “Pete” Fryer and John “Bo” Fryer; and sister, Juanita Fryer Campbell.
Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, at the Harris Chapel with Rev. A.E. “Bo” Coffman officiating. Burial was at Friendship Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. Pallbearers were Earnie Fryer, Johnny Keith Fryer, Jermey Hice, Brad Thompson, Bill Pruitt, and Barney Mills.
Lawrence Gunderman
Lawrence Edward Gunderman, age 58, of Morrilton, died Monday, January 28, 2002.
He was born Sept-ember 22, 1943, in Morrilton, Arkansas, a son of the late Frank Joseph Gunderman and Margaret Streit Gunderman. Mr. Gunderman was a retired manager for propane companies, member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include daughters, Regina Peckham of Honolulu, Hawaii and DeEtte Eby of Gillette, Wyoming; brothers, Sylvester Gunderman and Paul Gunderman, both of Morrilton, Andrew Gunderman of Marysville, California, Frank Gunderman of Conway, and Ray Gunderman of Hattie-ville; sisters, Helen McMillen of Conway and Clara Marie Gangluff of Hattieville; and grandchildren, Ryan Peckham, and Dustin and Brady Eby.
Rosary was 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, at the Harris Chapel. Funeral Mass was 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 1, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Charles Thessing officiating. Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements were by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. Pallbearers were Harold Beck, Gerald Peckham, Mike Eby, Joshua Tyler, John Gunderman, and Chris Gunderman. Honorary pallbearers were Ryan Peckham, Dustin Eby and Brady Eby.
Juanita Swope
Juanita Thompson Swope, 68, of Russellville, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002.
She was born Nov. 4, 1933, in Atkins, a daughter of Lommie and Lucile Smith Thompson. Mrs. Swope was the widow of Robert Swope and of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include two sons; Lonnie Bryum of Hattieville and Bill Bryum of Atkins; two daughters, Pam Dixon of Russellville and Sharon Maggard of Atkins; three brothers, Glen Thompson of Russellville, Bill Thompson of Ft. Smith and James Thompson of Santa Monica, Calif.; two sisters, Sue Bryum of Atkins and Donna Hofstetter of Russellville; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Memorials may be made to the Breast Cancer Fund.
“Cootsie” Reese
Ussia Alfonso “Cootsie” Reese, 91, of Plumerville, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002.
He was born April 21, 1910. He was retired from the railroad and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Jolenetta Allen of Atlanta, Ga., and Janice Richmond of Kansas City, Kan.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Plumerville. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery.
Visitation is 1-6 p.m. Friday at Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home in Morrilton.
“Nick” Crenshaw
Ernest “Nick” Crenshaw, 83, of Conway died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002.
He was born June 27, 1918, in Conway, a son of Peter and Hattie Allen Crenshaw. He was retired from Heigel Wholesale. He was a member of United Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Eula Crenshaw; one son, Earl E. Crenshaw of Conway; four daughters, Ruby Macon and Cozetta Crenshaw, both of Conway, Margie Porch of Rialto, Calif., and Ernestine Ealy of Shawnee, Okla.; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at United Baptist Church in Conway by the Rev. William Forté. Burial will be at United Baptist Cemetery by Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home.
Visitation is Friday from 2-6 p.m. at Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home in Conway.
Nea G. Hall
Nea G. Hall, 27, of Plumerville died Saturday, June 1, 2002, at the St. Vincent hospital in Little Rock.
Nea was born in Little Rock on May 27, 1975, daughter of Lois and James Johnson. She was a lifetime resident of Conway County, where she attended the Conway County School District. Nea was a homemaker and took great joy in taking care of her children.
She is survived by her children, Blake Craton and Abbie Sue Ford of the home; her fiance, Joseph Ford of Plumerville; her parents, Jan Johnson of Springfield and James Johnson of Bee Branch; grandparents, Jack and Elsie Reville of Springfield; one brother, Arlo Craton of Conway; and two sisters, Carol Kent of Morrilton and Melanie Daigle of Louisiana.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Springfield Cemetery. Arrangements are by Bob Neal and Sons Funeral Service.
Rachel Gunter
Rachel Eileen Parks Gunter 34, of Houston, Arkansas, died Thursday, May 30, 2002.
She was born April 28, 1968, in Morrilton. Mrs. Gunter was a Jehovah’s Wit-ness associated with the Perryville congregation.
Survivors include her husband Timothy Gunter; two sons, Robert Allen Gunter and Henry Eugene Gunter, both of the home; one daughter, Hanna Renee of the home; parents, Hershel and Wanda Tilley Parks of Houston; and one brother, Lawrence “Ed” Edward Parks of Houston.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, June 3, at the Harris Chapel with Mark Thoman officiating. Burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery near Bigelow by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
Pallbearers were Tony Graves, Nash Burns, David McGhee, Tony Tabone, Rusty Herman, and John Shaffer.
Gurtha Easterwood
Gurtha Easterwood, 69, of Conway died Monday, May 27, 2002.
She was born Oct. 20, 1932, in Faulkner county, a daughter of Plummer and Blanche Ola Anderson Easterwood. She was a member of Greater Friendship Baptist Church. She was a member of the Friendship Mass Choir and the hospitality committee.
Survivors include one son, John Anthony McFarlin of Morrilton; two brothers, Andy Lewis Easterwood and John Earl Easterwood, both of Conway; one sister, Shirley Gardner of Conway; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Greater Friendship Baptist Church by the Rev. J.J. Richardson. Burial was at Friendship Cemetery by Larry G. Acklin Funeral Home, Conway.
