Clara Faye Jackson, 58, of Rogers, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001 at the Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. She was born Nov. 9, 1942 at Aubrey to Milton and Harriet Reece Jackson.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Ray of Lampe, Mo. and Lisa Macias of Bentonville; three brothers, David Jackson and Jackie Jackson, both of Wynne, and Gary Jackson of Marianna; six sisters, Jane Holcomb of Marianna, Vivian Jackson and Shirley Miles Jackson, both of Helena, Sharlott Fisher of Mena, Belle Pinegar of Cabot and Angela Steward of Fullerton, Calif.; five grandchildren and one step-grandchild.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Marianna Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. David Mitchell officiating.

Wallace Hornbeak
Wallace Winfred Hornbeak, 75, of Hughes, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001 at Crittenden Memorial Hospital.
He was a WWII army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Nora Hornbeak of Hughes; three sons, Larry W. Hornbeak of Forrest City, Terry B. Hornbeak of Little Rock, and Lorin K. Hornbeak of Hughes; one daughter, Sandra Dilks of Marianna; one sister, Vivian Hancock of West Helena; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14 in Roller-Citizens Chapel of Marianna with Rev. Rodney Skipworth officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena.

Brookcean Nelson
Brookcean Nelson, 44, of Jacksonville, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001 at Regional Hospital in Jacksonville.
She is survived by two sons, Undra Clevis Abernathy and Jametral Martiz Abernathy, both of Little Rock; a daughter, Raynetta Conners of Jacksonville; her mother, Mandy Abernathy of Marianna; one sister, Beulah Turner of Little Rock; four brothers, Charles Abernathy and James Abernathy, both of Atlanta, Ga., Roosevelt Abernathy of Grady, and Leroy Abernathy of Marianna.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Abernathy and three brothers, Clancy Lee Abernathy, Eddie McDowell and James Turner.
Services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, Sept. 22 at Walnut Grove M.B. Church with Rev. Lee Eggerson officiating.

Rickey Dewayne Young, 39, of Forrest City, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001.
He was born in Marianna and was employed at True Value in Forrest City.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Young, in 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the home; his mother, Carolyn Young of Forrest City; two sons, Jonathan and Lance, both of the home; three sisters, Cathy White and Anna Allen of Forrest City, and Judy Dickerson of Sherwood.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17 at Morgan Chapel with Bro. Johnny Brewster officiating. Burial was at Forrest Park Cemetery under the direction of Morgan Funeral Home.
Herbert McNair
Herbert Henry McNair, Sr., 65, of Florida, died Thursday, Sept. 13 at James A. Haley Hospital in Tampa, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Helen McNair; one son, Herbert Henry Jr.; five daughters, Pam Hoyle, Robbie Smith, Tracey McNair, Sandy McNair and Michelle Buttram; five brothers, Dick McNair, James McNair, Tommy McNair, Cecil McNair and Roger McNair; and three sisters, Betty Fear, Sara DeSautel, and Patsy "Bay" Edgin.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Homer Jr. and Lee McNair and two sisters, Mary Edgin and Mildred Watkins.
Services were held at First Baptist Church in Lolfa Springs, Fla. with Rev. Toler officiating.
J.C. Bates
J.C. Bates, 75, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001 at UAMS in Little Rock.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth Smith Bates; three daughters, Linda Warren of Hunter, Brenda Grigsby of Greenbrier, and Glenda Pruett of Marianna; a brother, Bill Bates of Pine Ridge; two sisters, Beulah Osborne of Marianna and Pauline Higgins of Oklahoma; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Talbert, Otto, Hayden, Burl and Leo Bates and one sister, Sallie Turpin.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31 at Bob Neal and Sons Chapel in Brinkley with Rev. Ed Sanders and Rev. Jay Thompson officiating. Burial was in Hunter Cemetery.

Clenzy Rodgers, 84, of Forrest City, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
He was a retired laborer.
Survivors include fourdaughters, Stella Hill and Betty Williams of Forrest City, and Patricia Jones and Mary Hodges of Kansas City, Kansas; one son, Robert Rodgers Sr.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchidren.

Monroe Pointer Sr., 92, of Dansby, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001 at the Helena Regional Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife, Birnether Pointer; one daughter, Evelyn Gaines of Marianna; two sons, Monroe Pointer Jr. of Dansby and Theodis Pointer Sr. of Marianna.

Elton Williams Sr., 90, of Forrest City, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002.
He was a retired farmer.

John Sidney "Johnny" Graham, 45, of Oneida, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002 at the Med in Memphis of injuries as a result of an automobile accident.
He was born Feb. 29, 1956 to Joe Elwood Graham and Helen Randal Graham.
Survivors include his father of Oneida; the mother of his son, Susan Duram of Lexa; his son, John Richard Graham of Lexa; seven brothers, Joe Graham of Oneida, Willie Graham of Batesville, Allen Ray "Buddy" Graham of Montrose, Herbie Graham of Indian Bay, Jerry Graham of Cherry Valley, Billy Graham of Rena Lara, Miss., and Bobby Graham of Holly Grove; seven sisters, Alive Faye Anderson and Mary Smith of Marianna, Imogene Watkins of Gill, Marie Ables of Oneida, Jackie Graham of Gill, Judy Wood of Snow Lake, Miss. and Carolyn Ables of Grenada, Miss.

Melvin Campbell Sr., 80, died Sunday, Jan. 20 at the V.A. Hospital in Little Rock.
He is survived by his wife, Florida Campbell; four daughters, Lora Campbell Duffy of Little Rock, Francine Walker of DeSoto, Texas, Deborah Bland of Helena and Sandra Hadden of Garland, Texas; six sons, Ralph Campbell of Boca Raton, Fla., Regional Campbell of Cleveland, Ohio, Jerome Campbell of Kansas City Mo., Melvin Campbell Jr. of North Little Rock, Malyce Campbell of Little Rock and Rodney Campbell of Cedar Fall, Texas; one sister, Bessie Livingston of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, Eddie Campbell of Marianna and Marion Campbell of Cleveland, Ohio; 28 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Eloise B. King of Elko, Nev. died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002 in Elko General Hospital. She was a former resident of Moro and the daughter of the late Charles H. and Ora Lee Bowman.
She is survived by her husband, Ben F. King of the home; one daughter, Martha Jean Armstrong of Riverside, Calif.; one son, James King, of Salt Lake City, Utah; six sisters, Frances Burress and Noma Faye Wilson of Moro, Joan Raley and Doris Keasler of Marianna, Mabel Moseley of Stuttgart, and Carrie Sue Lewis of El Dorado; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Morris C. Buckingham, 83, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002 at the V.A. Medical Center in Memphis.
He was a farmer and a World War I veteran.
He is survived by two brothers, Alfred Louis Buckingham of Cleveland, Ohio and Leo Buckingham of St. Louis, Mo.; and three sisters, Olar Mae Ellington of Marianna, Daisy Mae Kimbrough of St. Louis, Mo. and Maranda Mae Charles of Pine Bluff.

Olter Lee Jackson, 87, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Booker T. Bonner and her second husband, Walter Patrick.
She is survived by a step-daughter, Jessie M. Harrison; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 at New Hope M.B. Church in Moro with Rev. Spencer Brown officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery in Moro.

Herman Neal
Herman E. Neal, 59, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002 at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Gospel Wonder Singers.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd and David, as well as his parents, Jessie and Dora Neal.
Survivors include his long-time companion, Bobbie; seven children, Carlos Jerome, Herman Marquis, Rhonda Shunta, Monica Terssa, Carolyn, Stan and Tony; two sisters, Jessie Mae Williams of Minneapolis, Minn. and Wanda Verlena Neal of Pine Bluff; 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Iva Turley
Iva A. Turley, 79. of Moro, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002.
He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion in Marianna. He was a carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Turley; one son, Larry G. Turley of Searcy; two daughters, Linda E. Jones of Forrest City and Shirley K. Fowler of Moro; one brother, Gaylon Turley of Cabot; one sister, Edna Burns of Moro; six grandchildren, one step-grandson, three great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
